FACTS. One of the BEST adaptations ever made. You can practically TASTE the passion from that show😂. Damn shane it got cancelled and replaced with Beware the Batman😭
I find it kind of good since every Harley adaptation can always be identified under 2 things 1. Jokers gf who he doesn’t like that much 2. Jokers ex This one’s good since she doesn’t only surround herself by joker but i also feel like they could’ve just made a new character overall instead
I think a big issue is that her costumed name doesn't really match with what she's actually doing. Harley Quinn in most other media works because she was involved with the Joker in some capacity and thats where her whole stage-name came from since he and her had a theme going on. In Caped Crusader however it comes off as just generally weird because her costume doesn't match what she's doing or has anything else to back it up.
I think it was neat for a different take on her Something DC has always done so changes don't really bother me like this since obviously it's not changing the main version

I think the art is simple in a bad way, the animation is clunky, the scene are so static, the background is soulless, the choreography is lazy, the dialogue is boring, the character design are lame. There is almost nothing that impressed me.
DC is more worried about being canceled than making something people would actually enjoy. I remember when New 52 was the biggest talking point about dc now we have this crap.
I only watched the first episode in the show premiere, and I enjoyed it but the modern PC nonsense definitely distracted me. I would accept genderswapping and blackwashing in a modern take like Arkham Origins or Beware the Batman. But Caped Crusader is supposed to showcase Gotham as it was envisioned in 1939. The only people of color should be already established characters like Montoya or Lucius (who ironically looks less like his comic counterpart than Commissioner Gordon).

I’m about halfway through. I thought the first 4 episodes were pretty good, episodes 2 and 3 were my favorite. I’m in the middle of episode 5 rn Edit: Wrapped up the show when I got back home from the gym. Agree with Kwing here, mixed bag. You got your good episodes and your bad ones, your high moments and your low ones. I won’t say I’m excited for the 2nd season but I’m intrigued enough. The detective work, the case solving, basically all the Batman stuff was great. The rest of the stuff paled in comparison. I did really enjoy the Clayface and Catwoman episodes I think those were the best. 6-7/10 for me
@@daChief-khalifedawg I just said they were good 💀 I didn’t say they were perfect or anything like that damn. I have my gripes with the show but to call it trash would be insane. Even Kwing said the show has high moments in his review. Not everything is a 9/10-10 or a 0-3/10, there are some projects that are mid and this happens to be one of them. However if people give constructive criticism where it’s actually applicable there’s a chance that they can elevate the good parts better and erase the bad parts and make a better season 2
I'm starting to think that Bruce Timm wasn't really he might capitalize on Paul Dini's success by looking at every project Paul isn't there you can see writing flaws and gen z bullshit even the Arkham series and Rocksteady suffered from that I think we were looking for the wrong people
@@kwingsletsplays Indeed. Of all the reviewers on RUclips, I was looking forward to hearing your thoughts specifically when it comes to Caped Crusader. Personally, the more I hear about the show, the less I like it, so perhaps all the fun that's left for me is the conversation arising around it.
18:55 the harvey dent from cw gotham knights was better and more sympathetic than caped crusader harvey dent in my opinion im curious if you agree kwing ?
Did Glen Murakami and Sam Register have any decision-making clout in the Batman animated series they contributed to? A Gamespot article said Timm came back to Batman after two decades, but I thought he was involved in the straight-to-video animated movies of recent.
Hm, I see, that’s a shame, I really hate it when a anticipated Show doesn’t deliver, what a wasted opportunity, now i feel like it was a waste to have it be saved after the merger.
Alao, if the show really wanted a female crime boss to spice things up, they could've used an established one like Sofia Falcone instead of Rule 63ing a highly anticipated villain.
I really enjoyed the show. It was fun for what it was. I do agree with the whole new woke shit in it. Like really? No way did that area accept lgbtq shit. Like huh?
turns out a show set in a different universe doesn’t match ours 1:1, god forbid having show set in the 30s/40s be more vibes based in aesthetics than accurate in historical detail. On that note, maybe not everyone coming out of the depression was a femme fatale or captain america. Have you seen Grapes of Wrath or the images of the prohibition criminals during the public enemy era? Not everyone was looking pretty, especially not Ma Barker.
They could have had their cake and eaten it 2. All they had to do was have the kid take up the mantle of Penguin. Have it be something like he played them. and that way they get to virtue signal and we I hope get a recurring story line on the rise of a new crime lord. They squandered a great opportunity for a storyline
Like i Said i am more mixed then anything. Is 7/10 for the show Main problem the b plot drag like shit. ( i don’t call Barbara Gordon show simple because a) there is more b plot or sub plot that just drag. And two there is Batman. I feel the b plot take so mush times.
9:15 omg this scene was difficult to watch. In part because Oswalda isn’t attractive, but largely because the penguin is COMPLETELY different from this person and I can’t help but think of the one from BTAS or Batman Returns… and it’s gross.
I think the reason why Batman calls Alfred by his last name is because I think he's doing the phase of where he's not ready to have a family yet Or they just don't care but I like my idea better
honestly kwing, i wasn’t the biggest fan, i’ve been watching you since a kid and you literally described word for word how i felt about this show, i watched the whole thing in one day so it couldn’t be THAT BAD, however, its mid at best, im a young guy so i understand including everyone but this show just changed characters too much and was clearly pushing an agenda, and batman was not in it enough at all, its such a shame because as you said there were amazing moments but its overshadowed by the agenda
Since there are three people creating the show I think instead of each person doing a season but each to do a episode of the season in their own way so it'll be different style or same style but set during the same story but how they imagine that character going and that's just how the character is or something like that
The only thing good about episode one was Hamish as the voice of batman. I feel like he did a really good job of voicing batman then switching to Wayne. Race swapping the Gordons and gender swapping Penguin was nothing more than irritating and obviously done to pander. There was no reason for neither to happen

@@kwingsletsplays basically "Rizz" is the new slang for charisma, and "gyaatt" is new slang for this person is fine, to keep it PG.
See it fits within those times haha.
Lol😂
💐💐 I Will Probally Just Stick To The Old Stuff I Love Too Like Teen Titans The Animated Series , Superman The Animated Series , Batman The Animated Series , Batman Beyond , Justice League , Justice League Unlimited !!!! . 💐💐
Nothing in this show justifies it taking place in the 40s, it’s just a mask. And that is why all the modern 2024 junk stands out so much. They don’t even bother trying to explain any of the race swaps or genderbends given the setting. So much additionally wrong with this boring and disappointing series.
I respect your opinion kwing I loved the show but I don't like how they Focused on side characters but some of the episodes actually focused on the batman I like two face Harley Quinn and Catwoman I loved the finale too it gave love letter to BTAS overall 9.5 out of 10
No worries, you like what you like.
@@kwingsletsplays thanks
Bruce Timm said he turned down the chance to return to the world of BTAS in order to make this show. WTH ?!
I'll be honest, this show needs work.
Great review while i don't think this show os trash i would call it mid and gets good and the later episodes like ep 3 but to much modern influence to this show so thats annoying but yeah great review 👍
They race swapped the Gordon's and made Alfred fat
Alfred was already fat in the Golden Age. And Gordon was race swapped in The Batman. Ever heard of Elseworlds?🤦
@@sup3414 do you want apology or something u seem pretty butt hurt about it
@@BaliUchiha How is me educating someone dumb being "butt hurt"?
@@BaliUchihayou right I love batman but when I saw fat Alfred and black Gordon black Barbara female penguin I gave up on the show .
So sad I’ve got great hope for this but it seems everything now is condemned to be rotten for stupid woke audience .
@@sup3414Your way of educating is VERY flawed.
Penguin didn’t really bother me but I really wasn’t a fan of Harley Quinn and how much of a focus they put on Barbara I’m very concerned that Bruce Timm is going to put Batman and Barbara together
Damn, never seen a harder fall off. Stick to playing kids games lil bro 💀
I think the art is simple in a bad way, the animation is clunky, the scene are so static, the background is soulless, the choreography is lazy, the dialogue is boring, the character design are lame. There is almost nothing that impressed me.
Barbara Gordon is not a prosecutor. She’s a public defender. Harvey Dent is the prosecutor.
4am slip. I knew She was a Lawyer just forgot which side. The Harvey stuff really threw Me for a Loop in how they make Him bad from the start.
@@kwingsletsplays fair
Defenders and prosecutors are types of lawyers. Also its late at night. He's pushing himself long hours to give us these videos. Give the man a break
Fine! I'll do it myself
I'm confused about one thing. As I'm not planning to watch the show anytime soon... is Barbara in the show Jim's wife or daughter?
Daughter. I think they say it once or twice.
Its his daughter. Very clear in the show
💐💐 It Seems Like Amazon , D.C. Comics , And , Bruce Timm Is Giving Batman : The Caped Crusader , The Rings Of Power Treatment LOL 😂!!!! .💐💐
Hi
mat reeves being attached to this project has me a little worried for the batman sequel
DC is more worried about being canceled than making something people would actually enjoy. I remember when New 52 was the biggest talking point about dc now we have this crap.
This couldn't be further from the point, but there were in fact vegetarians in the 1940s.
After the Killing Joke animated version, the writing was on the wall for Bruce Timm for me.
If they wanted a female mob boss why didn't they just use the Peyton Riley version of Ventriloquist?
Reasons, but nice pick though. That would've been interesting
@@kNIGHTWING01 I've always wanted to see the Ventriloquist again.
Creeps me out, you never know who's actually is in control, the person or the puppet.
One of my people I also think of Peyton when in need of female mob from Batman
It was kinda meh from what I saw of it.
You know I will have to go back to batman the animated series. I agree with you it's set in 1930s but it made me angry because it was not even with the times like harley and montoya made me so mad.
I thought tthe episode was ok i wouldn't say it was terrible but i just thought it was ok i think episode 2 better than episode 1 .
Episode 2 is ok.
Episode 3 is the Best.
5 was one of the worst
4 and 6 was ok
Are you sure you want to do the internet the service of giving your honest thoughts, Kwing? I mean. If you pander, you lose self respect. If you don't pander the psycho trolls who just worship this show because it spreads their politics will come after you. Reviewing this is a minefield 😅
Thank you for sharing your thoughts i agree the show jumps all over the place. Paul dini is missing and that is noticeable too.
I’m about halfway through. I thought the first 4 episodes were pretty good, episodes 2 and 3 were my favorite. I’m in the middle of episode 5 rn
Edit: Wrapped up the show when I got back home from the gym.
6-7/10 for me
I would say u have bad taste but that's way Beyond that
@@daChief-khalifedawg I just said they were good 💀 I didn’t say they were perfect or anything like that damn.
I'm starting to think that Bruce Timm wasn't really he might capitalize on Paul Dini's success by looking at every project Paul isn't there you can see writing flaws and gen z bullshit even the Arkham series and Rocksteady suffered from that I think we were looking for the wrong people
DId DC really DMCA you for criticizing them?
Some stills from the Episode got removed in the Review.
I am on WB's naughty list, so it's possible. Video is up though, so that's good.
@@Borvoc It's a mixed bag. You might like it or not. That's about the best i can tell you.
@@kwingsletsplays Very sad words for a BtAS spiritual successor.
Bring back FISH MOONEY. 😂😂
Im mostly upset they got J.J. Abrams. Who killed star wars
I appreciate spicy kwing!
I really enjoyed the show. It was fun for what it was. I do agree with the whole new woke shit in it. Like really? No way did that area accept lgbtq shit. Like huh?
Who’s kissing on a first date. That felt kind of forced lol. I was like you barely know this person ewwww lol. 😂
Here we go with the "woke" shit. Define "woke shit"
turns out a show set in a different universe doesn’t match ours 1:1, god forbid having show set in the 30s/40s be more vibes based in aesthetics than accurate in historical detail.
They squandered a great opportunity for a storyline
dear lord please bring Paul Dini back
Oh wow.
Like i Said i am more mixed then anything.
Is 7/10 for the show
Main problem the b plot drag like shit.
Weird me and Kwing have different opinions on this show i actually liked it lol
To each thier own. This my second time through it
@@kwingsletsplays i mean i have my issues with it like i think the Penguin gender swap was dumb for sure but over all the show was decent
It was cringe that scene where they pretend that any man on earth would find this creature hot
