I really enjoyed the video showing your last visit to the house and was delighted when I discovered this updated vid. The exterior walls washed up beautifully - seemed like the house took a deep breath of relief and happiness for the first time in years. Excited to see the rest of the ivy and that dreadful back shed come down and protector shed be built. Thank you for preserving the history of this little lovely cottage. Until next time - from Ontario, Canada.
Morning Adrian, quite a challenge!! That coating is a product widely used in 60-70-80s it called “Tyrolean” finish, puerly a cosmetic enhancment used it on many jobs it was mixed into a sticky paste and applied by a series of flickers turned by hand on a spindle within a small hand held hopper, still available in various colours.
Seems like this little gem needs some fast growing hedge for wind protection with more trees. Then later the foliage could be adjusted when some one moves in. This will be a fun journey.
I like very much that you are looking to keep the history of this house instead of a bulldozing it down. Simple thing is the many colours on the trim, brilliant stuff.
Yay what everyone had been waiting to see! 👍oh wow that’s some high pressure cleaner , wish ours was that good! I have never seen anyone create a tap and connect to water that quick. You’re a clever man Adrian. Your plans sound amazing. Watching from Western Australia 👋
I enjoyed watching, and I have subscribed. I have watched other videos of restoring cottages and going off-grid by Brits who have relocated to Ireland from the UK. It's nice to hear an Irish accent.
So happy we’re starting on the cottage! It was how I found your channel, and I’ve been anticipating this rebuild for a while now. I know you have to fit it in with all the farm work but I can’t wait to see what you do with it. I imagine such a charming little place.🤗❤️🐝
Very well done Adrian. You did a great job on pressure washing the house. You will have lots of work to do but I know that if anyone can do it you can. One step at a time. I. Very sure that when you are finished,(however long that takes) you will have a cosy and comfortable home. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A remarkable difference with such a small job completed and I concur with your thoughts on checking for faults in the render a great start for what is going to be a long and exciting restoration. A very informative video can't wait for further episodes.
AT LAST. I even went searching for you yesterday - yes yesterday, but couldn't remember the name of the RUclips channel. Seems the universe had heard me saying , " it's about time we heard....." So, there you are. - We are. Standing at the point where you are doing what I would have done.
Adrian, the program i saw tonight raised by a village, Well fair play to you and your family for helping that girl. Your a pure legend and again fair play to ye all
Adrian thank you for saving this building. It is not about the money but preserving a cute old cottage. I’m sure you will enjoy the process.Im looking forward to watching. Love the aerial view…looks so charming. Does the cottage have a name?
Seeing how you take care of your farm and animals, this house will be done to a great standard too im sure. 😊 Some nice proffesional tv presenter style shots there near the end with you walking into the rooms. Great Sunday viewing as always.
Yes, i was one of many people wondering when you might be getting to work on the restoration of the cottage. I'm very excited to see you ❤️ starting again ❤️
Thanks for the update Adrian, I really like your idea of keeping the traditional look of the house too. Best of luck with the work that's coming up, stay safe
Really enjoyed everything about this video! Excited to watch how the house changes & improves over time! Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Cheers from Canada :)
Tyrolean render or Snowcem... I remember watching the builders apply it on my Father's new build in 1957, they called it 'snowcem' and it was applied from an open drum with a revolving cylindrical yard brush inside that spat the snowcem out. Nearly 70 years later the stuff still looks great. And, Adrian, your videos are a Sunday morning joy. Thank you Sir. Best Wishes, Brendan.
Adrien you will do a great job on that house like you do good jobs on the farm you have great knowledge what you do looking forward to seeing it finished keep up the good work whatever you do keep the great videos coming
Fantastic view at the end of your amazing video, the wee cottage stood in a beautiful field. Only thing missing your two four legged sidekicks. Bet they were lying in 😂 All the best for the future of your wonderful cottage.
Adrian, I built my own house and I renovated a small house like yours about 10 years ago, I did it over a period of about 7 years, the derelict house was stripped down to four walls and the roof and fully redone, I had friend with me on Saturdays and it took just over 12 months to complete, I got great enjoyment from it and would love to do another one sometime, but now I am renovating the farmyard and farm over the past 10 years sometime time it will all get done, my advise is take your time enjoy it and do it right and learn along the way! Best of luck with it!
Now it has begun! Looking forward to this journey Adrian. Just glad there wasn’t a strong wind with that grimace on yer coupon when power washing, reminded me of the expression on mine when the missus is parking the car 😬
Lovely to hear more about the cottage... what a difference the pressure wash made! Yes, better to plan ahead... There's that old saying... Those who fail to plan, Plan to fail... We look forward to future progress on the project... Thanks for the update... Goodonya from Australia! Its gonna be a lot of hard yakka though! Blessings to all ❤
Its a great project and we are really excited to see what you have planned for it. I'm sure you will have it done well no matter what route you take. Very jealous of all the machinery! Could do with a good quad & trailer!
Greetings from coastal New Jersey ! I enjoy your channel and marvel at all the skills you have mastered to keep your farm moving forward ! It is wonderful to hear of the thoughtful way you are approaching the restoration of the cottage and the intention to breathe life back into it , for you and others to enjoy ...well done !
Was in New Jersey many years ago, different world out there but I loved it. Follow a good few RUclipsr in the area like Casey Neistate and Andrew Camarata in New York State. Also a big Soprano’s fan 😄

Wat a transformation in just washing the outside. I wish i had so many talents like you adrian (althg im a woman),there is nothing you can't put your hand to...a man of all trades.Be lovely to see the cottage when it's complete, ive been following from the begining on it's journey. Another happy subscriber of your video's.
Mighty man Adrian,Iv an old cottage like you and have no long term plan with/for it,Iv always said i should seal it like you said and decide after that,Im not motivated by the grant either,Keep up ur good work and thanks so much for sharing your work and ideas with us.
Yayy, a new challenge! I know you are excited to save some history. Yes, so many say just tear it down but that is being done way too often and national history is the poorer for it. I love those turquoise door and window frames, by the way.
I enjoyed this video very much! There’s something so rewarding about watching power washing, lol. Here in the states, we call that kind of render “stucko”. It was very popular in the 60’s and 70’s. But it’s a nightmare to get off. Good luck on the build!
You're going to have a real gem there when it's done great to see and really looking forward to watching it progress thanks for the effort you put in your videos
Another great video Adrian, will look smart with new build and original build combined, thought to my self when the sledgehammer came out, oh he’s finally going to do some labour work then🤪 we turned a big three story house (built in the 1700s) into 5x apartments, always more interesting to work with old buildings than new ones , anyway keep safe, oh good to see you shut the door before you washed down walls😜🍻🍻
I agree, keep the history. When Adrian first showed us the cottage, some people in the comments were saying knock it down and rebuild it. I'm dead against that as it destroys the history/character of the place. I'm glad Adrian has chosen renovation and will be tuning in to see how it goes.
Top of the Morning Adrian, (Although it's late at night whilst I type this) It was almost as if Spring missed a season without IFarm coming past too. Great to see you arrived back for more of the old cottage rebuild. It's going to be a busy time for all involved. Subbed and liked. Just to keep in touch with the progress of this fantastic redevelopment. 🖖
Hi Adrian. I just wanted to let you know that I love what you’re doing with the cottage also it is so nice to see you and your girls farming together.I am from outside Tullamore so you can figer out what has happened to my youngest daughter and I miss her so much, I hope my message doesn’t upset anyone
I would rebuild the back wall but replace the window with a large window and door, makes it easy to add on in the future. Getting the windows and doors replaced to help weather proof the structure. Getting the old bathroom structure sound and weather tight is a must. Paint the outside and you can leave it till your sure what you want to do. A septic design for future is a good idea before laws change,Redo the house to live able now and addd on later makes alot of sense. Your always improving the farm,
Looks grand, now you've washed it just the exterior a coat of white wash and you could move in tomorrow. 🙂 But honestly you're quite right there is a lack of tradesmen, all the good ones are booked up for months or even a couple of years ahead. Plus let's not forget the cost of materials that have gone through the roof, if you need anything specialized then you'd better start thinking about taking out a mortgage. With regards to your render, if the mounds are smooth it's likely to be lime, if they are cement then they would be sharper. I'm with you, that place needs a tasteful restoration so it can be reminded of its past life, lets face it if we have an older building we are just custodians. Me I would put in fixtures that look like the ones that were put in when the building was built, it would be a living reminder of that period. 👍
Will be great to see the final project! I’ve just bought an older cottage out west - it’s in better shape than this - but lots of hidden problems to contend with!
Great video again, Adrian. Although I was expecting some artistic drawings on the house wall from the pressure washer, knowing your character Adrian 😂 lol
Hows things Adrian? Im a painter and one thing ive noticed is any old mass concrete or mass mud walls houses that have been renovated will always have trouble with mold regardless with insulated from inside or insulation on the outside walls. Demolish and start afresh will give you a lot less headaches. Looking forward to seeing the progress regardless which way you go about it.
Hi Adrian if a house is worth saving I say go for it plus I'm learning something like if a house is made of mud it lasts for hundreds of years so it looks real strong

It sure is its on my home house its on it since the early 1970s its a devil to paint 😂
@@bernardobrien2196 It looks like what we call Stucco, and yes it's horrible to paint.
Seems like this little gem needs some fast growing hedge for wind protection with more trees. Then later the foliage could be adjusted when some one moves in. This will be a fun journey.
