James Taylor is an American legend. He’s a true poet. 🤓🤠
True that!👍✌️
James Taylor grew up in/around Chapel Hill, NC. He father was a professor at the University of North Carolina. Carolina in my Mind is about his childhood and how he was homesick when he was away back in 1968. It is still a popular song here in N C.
Correct and their is a bridge in Chapel Hill on Hwy. 501 named in honor of James Taylor.
WOW!!! Thanks for the information. My great-Uncle and his family lived in a cabin off of Airport Road in Chapel Hill. Also, my great-uncle owned a bakery on Main Street called “Thell’s Bakery.”
My mother’s side of the family are from NC and the other side are from SC. Obviously, I love this song!!! ❤️❤️❤️
What a small world!!!
Not just in N.C., my friend. I'm in the UK and the nearest I've ever been to Carolina is Niagara, but this is a song for anyone who can look back on a small town childhood in a world that seems to have changed beyond recognition in our lifetimes. Or maybe we just got old, but this speaks to people beyond creed or class or race. Genius.
Asia & BJ, You’ll love his “You’ve Got A Friend”, “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)”, “Your Smiling Face” !!!!
I was a kid back in the 60 when He started to make a name for Himself. Now that I am 68 He is still going strong.
Same, 69 here.
Another 68 here !...I like some James Taylor, but, honestly, I can't say I'm a fan of his.
Same here. 👍🏼
His voice is so soft and inviting but still commanding. He takes you to the place he is singing about.
This is a HUGE rabbit hole! Our national singing/songwriting treasure!!
“ Fire and Rain” is his masterpiece. Watch the video from 1970 at the BBC. ❤😊
Watching him sing and masterfully play the guitar is the best! His diction is so clear you can understand all of his lyrics.
Lovely and thoughtful reaction as always!!!!
The original version has Paul McCartney on bass and George Harrison singing back up on it back when he was recording it at Trident Studios, London in 1968.
You can’t go wrong with any James Taylor songs but this definitely one of my favorites
'Fire and Rain' and 'Sweet Baby James' are two more that spring readily to mind from this master poet.
I grew up with James Taylor, and that’s a long time ago and he still going strong… Good music never dies
Always makes me smile to see you two. James Taylor was right there during the cultural and societal change of the 60's and the large influence that the acoustic guitar had on rock during that period. Check out "Sweet Baby James" - you'll love it.
As a man who lived in North Carolina for the first thirty years of his life, this song should be the official state Anthem! Just as the State of Georgia declared the Ray Charles song “Georgia” their anthem!
James Taylor is a legend. So glad my dad put this on in our car rides up to ocean city, 7 hours past by in seconds listening to him.
Man I Love this song 🎵 Goosebumps !!
True legend...James voice plus his writing skills/guitar playing...he's a mood
I'm a North Carolina girl I was born there...moved and on the West coast but my heart is is in Carolina❤...James Taylor is a amazing lyricist and guitarist please play more!!!!
For some reason i listened to this while i was pregnant with my now 25 year old son. It soothed me while i was big pregnant. Lol
This takes me back to when my mom and I saw him live in Charleston, SC back in the 90’s. Just James on a stool with his guitar and mic. ❤
My favorite song of his the harmonies are spectacular! You two are special keep it up I really enjoy you
What a beautiful couple the two of you make. Asia is stunning and BJ as handsome as can be. God bless you. Always be respectful to one another, show love and compassion, never take the other for granted. You are blessed to have each other.
My favorite of all his great songs! Great reaction! Thank you!
Love JT!!! He is such a treasure. I finally got to see him in concert last year with Jackson Browne. I won his Handyman album off of a radio station contest back I’m
The day. Been a fan ever since.
Jackson Browne - one of my fav concerts I’ve seen. And I’ve seen over 100. Just him and the piano. Magic. After his I’m Alive album.
James Taylor is a beautiful singer and song writer!
I saw him at the Vermont Fair Grounds in 1991. He sounds exactly the same live as the albums. He's great.
I've seen probably over 300 concerts in my life. Concert #1, many years ago, was James Taylor. I was a fan ever since. He is amazing and so humble. In 25 days I will be seeing James in concert again for the 12th time and hope to take several videos from the show and put them on my youtube channel.
I saw him once in concert. I sat sixth row from the front of the stage. He sang beautifully and effortlessly, but his voice projected so much power. I did not expect that. So much better than hearing him on CD.
Classic James Taylor. Such a good song.
My favorite JT song is "Copperline". It reminds me of my own childhood, even though I grew up in the North Bronx! Back in the late fifties, early sixties, there were still lots of wooded areas and places we kids could go out and have summertime adventures. When ever I go back, the changes in the old neighborhood are really shocking, but I still have all my childhood memories to fall back on. You should give it a listen.
Wow haven't been able to get your reactions for over a month then today they reappeared on my subs list, so glad to see ya again. Great song. One of the great storytellers through his music, Sweet baby James.
THAT UNIQUE TAYLOR VOICE AND GUITAR SOUNDS, IT'S JUST SO DISTINCT YOU GUYS! 😊
Beautiful! His voice is a treasure!
James's 1st recording break came from "Apple" records, and if you're not familiar with them, it was primarily Lennon and McCartney. They heard a few of his songs and sign him right away. So yes, he was signed by the Beatles for his 1st record.
“ the holy host of others”!😊
One of the greatest performers to see for me. Always a good time.
I live in North Carolina and I love it. You have the ocean, the mountains and everything in between.
Been to North Carolina very beautiful state, people are very friendly.
Hard to imagine a more pleasing male singing voice than James Taylor...
It's James Taylor's home, and this shows how much it means to him. Thanks Asia and BJ, always a pleasure.
James Taylor is amazing, his calm voice just puts you at ease. I grew up listening to him and still do . He did a great song with Zach Brown Band " Cold Weather" and then James went right into "Baby James" at the country music awards. You guys will enjoy it. Thank you so much for everything you do!!!!!
James Taylor’s voice is so wonderful. I never get tired of hearing it.
This is my favorite James Taylor song, but my favorite version of this is from a few years ago, the live “Pull Over” concert. Check it out if you want a slightly different, older man’s feel for this masterpiece.
I was in school at UNC Chapel Hill when James blew up. Hometown boy. His dad was with the University in capacity. So James knew Carolina. He wrote it while he was in England for his first album on The Beatles' Apple Records. James did a concert on campus my sophomore year
Thanks for some J.T. this morning. Has an extensive catalog to check out. Great reaction. Appreciate you 🙏
My favorite James Taylor song. I Live in North Carolina and i relate to the sentimate. Walking Man is another great song by JT.
For me its Christmas in San Antonio Texas when I was a kid 🇨🇱🤠🍻 Wonderful memories Love to y'all and God Bless 🙏
James Taylor’s music is never less than perfect.
There IS a beautiful cover of this -live- by Allison Krauss. Please consider giving it a listen for your own enjoyment.
I remember listening to James Taylor , Jim Croce , John Denver , Carol King , Carly Simon as a teenager , Those were such good times ! What a wonderful time it was to be young !
Hey there from Shreveport, BJ! Now I know why I like listening to you. You sound like home. Thanks for the great reaction to James Taylor’s wonderful talents: songwriter, musician and singer. He does it all.
James Taylor has had dozens of legendary songs that either wrote of has covered. Asia and BJ you would love tunes like Mexico, and Handy Man!
Always enjoyed this song
Carolina inspired 2 great songs. The other is I Am A Town by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Highly recommended. One of the great storytellers.
CMT used to have a series called "Crossroads" that paired country and rock stars singing each others tunes. One of the best was James Taylor and the Dixie Chicks!! The harmonies on this song and his tune "home" were AMAZING!!! You should check it out even if you don't do a reaction video!
makes me happy :)
Was raised on his music. Was the first concert i ever went to. Have seen him a half dozen times since. I danced to sweet baby james with my mom at my wedding. My wife and I danced to september grass for our first dance. Oh yeah, I was also named after him.
James is one helluva guitar picker and has a distinct style.
Brilliant songwriter.
My wife and I chose one of his songs as our wedding song! You are the only one! He is one of the very best wordsmiths!❤
Sweet Baby James!
I am a Carolina Girl....this predates me but by very little. This hard rocking Southern girl loves some James Taylor...nothing like North Carolina!
Yeah this is a really good journey to take He's got some pretty good songs
He is amazing.
Nothing like some smooooooth James Taylor ❤
Thanks for your reaction. I love this song so much. Last fall I went on a road trip with my dad. We went from Denver up to Yellowstone, west to Reno, down to Vegas and on to Grand Canyon and back up to Denver. This song came up in the car stereo many times on our playlist :) IMO it's such a great road trip song
Fire and Rain is a masterpiece of his
Check Taylor out live, he’s one of those artist’s who’s sole soul is diluted by relatively sappy studio over production, best dressed by his voice & guitar alone 👌
such a smooth singer he's like the Mathew McConaughey of folk lol
Singer/Songwriters of the 70's created total masterpieces. Full stop!
James spent a bit of time, in his youth, in the area of Chapel Hill, NC. This song is his tribute to the state.
JT is an American treasure. ❤🎶❤🎶❤
I was thinking of home, Lake Eufaula Oklahoma.. Dang now Is am all in my feels now.
Fun fact! The original was recorded in London at the same studio and time The Beatles album was being made. The base guitar was played by Paul McCartney and backing vocals by George Harrison. There's even a line in the song "holy host of others standing around me" which refers to The Fab Four.
I know I'm late. James Taylor was the first CD I ever bought. I'm in Lawton Oklahoma in my mind. I'm also from Dallas. Oak Cliff stand up. ✊
Him and Carly Simon in concert together, Awesome
My late Dad was born in Raleigh (the state capital) and he died before I could ever share this song with him...
Your reaction is so sweet! ❤
Absolutely LOVE BJ's take on this. Great reaction
James Taylor is an American Treasure.Check out "How sweet it is to be loved by You",and "Your Smiling Face".
An Important note about this tune. There were 2 VERSIONS released. The version on APPLE (Beatles Label) was much more musically satisfying. Hard to find, but worth the effort. Beautiful sentimentality
True poetry
A great song by his you might try is _Shower the People._
On every travel mixed tapes I made for road trips. Thirty years ago. And it was an old song then. But a great travel song.
Wrote and recorded this one when he was in England - having been signed by the Beatles. He was missing home...
Asia and BJ, there is a Wonderful version of this sung live by Linda Ronstadt and Glen Campbell you ought to check out!
Sweet Baby James. Roots in NC.❤️
This guy paints a picture with his smooth voice like no other....believe Paul McCartney played bass on this studio version ....The Beatles found the ORIGINAL JT, as he was one of the 1st artists signed to their Apple studio record label....
You guys are brilliant. I totally get this now.
Legend
Just 1, word (HOME) It’s th “ Happy Place “😁😁👍👍😎😎
Shower the people is another really good one
Fire and Rain is my absolute fav!
Look for live performances of Steam Roller Blues and Something in the Way She Moves. He's fantastic live
James Taylor was part of the "clique" that included Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, Jackson Brown, Don Henley, JD Souther, and other legends. They hung out together, performed each other's songs, and appeared on each other's albums.
Home town chill song😮
Can we see you react to Gregory Porter singing, "it's probably me"? Great live version celebrating Sting !
❤️❤️😎
This song saddens me. I love it but it makes me know I will only be going to my hometown in my mind. Even if I went back, it isn't my home anymore. I left when I was 20, went back to bury my father when I was 23. Never been back since. I am 65.
If you enjoyed this, I encourage you to check out the RUclips channel of his bass player on this recording, the great Leland Sklar.
Homemade Ice Cream,(not electric) turn’n th handle, real Ice, Rock salt, & goin 2 Aunt Mary Lou’s 4/ super ❤❤😢😢
Yes I remember that.
When i was in grad school at UNC IN 1982, Jt's father treated me for a sprained ankle at the Student Health Service. Back then he looked exactly like James does nowadays.
After I moved from Calif, I would sing "going to California in my mind" 😢😊🎶🎵
One of the great American folk ports.
Have not seen you two in a bit - nice to see you - I see you are doing alot of movies lately. James is an American institution. Many of his songs make you want to jump off a bridge. Fire & Rain for example is about the suicide of a friend, his heroin addiction and his checking into a mental institution all in one. Probably his greatest song and very powerful and sad
