Your assessment is right on....as a loyal flip upgrader this upgrade gave me pause.... If you download the Samsung store app you can save another $50 so $399 with trade in.

So happy your family and doggies have electrical power.... I purchased the Z Flip 5 last year through your link. The Z Flip 5 takes gorgeous pictures. I love the phone and cannot justify replacing it with the Z Flip 6. Perhaps next year I will (depends on how many times I drop it).
@@kimberleysweetser6087 it does take great pictures (im a photographer) but it's low 12mp sensor has little detail when zoomed in and im upgrading from the 5 for that improvement alone. But the Flip takes great pictures

@@TechOdyssey Sure there's some deals to be had? I bought a flip6 TODAY for 550 euros. 388 for the device, 162 (13,15 x 12) for the 1 year plan. It does require you to trade in ANY phone. Could be a 3310, Iphone 4 that got ran over etc etc.
My S9 had $510 trade in, and my S21 Plus had $540 so I'm trading in my S9 and get to keep my newer phone with my flip 6 :))! Pretty sure the trade in deals are still on

Love my mint z flip 5 with the mint silicone cover. Got it last year for little over six hundred after getting 2 hundred trade in on a pixel 3a xl. So no I would not pay the 450 difference. Did however just ordered the watch ultra with great trade in on my 5 pro.

Thank you for clarifying the price issue. I don't mind paying if it's worth it, and i do appreciate the updates Samsung provides. Someone said they didn't care about updates over on new Razor video and they buy a phone for what it is today not the future. Everyone don't want a new phone every year or two.

@TechOdyssey hello sir! I highly value your opinion when it comes to Samsung... so here are my concerns for you.
I have the Z Flip 5 and trading in today, to Samsung, I will have to pay $359 out of pocket. My question for you is, I'm only getting$650 for my flip this year, do you think it'll be less trade in value next year and do you think the Z flip 7 will increase in price!!??
I don’t expect the trade in to be lower next year or the price to increase. It seems the big emphasis this year is on the fold. I expect it to rebound some next year or stay the same.
Not gonna lie. I was pretty pissed off about the Flip trade in values this year but I also knew that the great values we've been getting in the past we'rent going to last forever. I've been a faithful Flip trade in person since the Flip 2 and even though 650 was a let down I still upgraded if for no other reason to be ready for next year's upgrade with max trade in value. I would've liked a bigger cover screen but beyond that the upgrades internally are pretty impressive. I'm also willing to cut Samsung a little slack given all the value I've gotten in previous years from the very high trade-in values and the great warranty coverage I've received on at least three of my previous phones. I think the Razrs are pretty cool but overall they just cannot compete with the Z Flips especially considering how invested I am in the Samsung ecosystem....BIG fan of Knox secure folder and Samsung Wallet. I look forward to my 12GB/512GB crafted black (if it proves to be grippy enough I'd love to go without a case) Flip 6 and hope that the Flip 7 has a bigger cover screen.....and maybe higher trade in values.

I'm keeping my S24+ with its telescopic camera, QHD+ and full IP68 rating. Trade-in value took a nosedive this year.
I had the flip 3 moderate user battery wasn't the greatest have the Fold 4 and battery is awesome for me ,now the Fold 6 is alittle to much to spend again with the Fold 4 still working great 👍

So, I made another go at Samsung and I was able to get mine ordered with the reserve and military discount. Trading in an S23 Ultra got me down to $489.39
The big surprise here is that Samsung did this in a year where the Razr Plus is really bringing the heat. Guys like me whi like to switch around the brands from time to time. If f it wer $50 -$100 I would have pulled the trigger already..saw it in person today, its nice but I dont see paying $450 when I can try out the Razr Plus for the same price. Really want to see your comparison on the two. If sales of the flip are slow maybe we get a better Deal on Black Friday.

I got the new razr in pre order I like the large front screen it just feels like a better value. I hate the folder front screen design
I'm personally going to just stick with the 5 and replace the screen myself, when it decides to go out. The only thing that entices me about the 6 is the 12gb ram; but I've been thinking of getting a one plus 12r for the amazing specs and camera for the price. I'd get the Razr just for the coverscreen, but the size of the main display is pushing it for me (around a 6.5 inch display would be perfect, imo).
I knew they were gonna nerf the trade in value for the flip to flip eventually, because it was a no brainer to upgrade previously with the trade in value because it was too good of a deal lol

My Flip 5 has been great but I don’t see the need to upgrade. Trade in values not great this year.

In the UK the flip 5 is only worth £380, but then again I bought it for £649 in the sale 3 weeks ago

I'm a Flip5 owner and although I'm very happy, the purchase bonuses available in my country are giving me a headache and thinking about switching.
The original price in my country for the Flip6 is $1,245. If I trade in my Flip5, I'll get a $450 discount plus a $214 "Trade-in Flip6" bonus, so the final price of the Flip6 would be around $581, which is already something very hard to ignore. Ideas, advice? :D

Razr+ 2023 all day
Nice phone but the lack of OS updates and security updates is seriously lacking. Also there have been many reports of questionable build quality.
@@gelley46 I think you are referring to mishandling and misuse of the phone! You should go in buying a phone like this knowing you'll probably want to baby it a lil more than normal!
@curtismiller1854 I never baby my phones and I've had the z flip 3 and after a few drops.... the phone would shut off after closing it. Now that I have the z flip 5, I have dropped it many times and it is still rocking!! Granted the hinge is pretty scuffed up but still operates correctly!
@@lopezdad30 I hope I drop mine lol it's never planned I have a case but it's been a nightmare finding a good comfortable case that covers the hinge! I finally found one that doesn't but it's the most comfortable thus far! Samsung is a heavier hitter thus case market is much better

I don't care about the price... I only buy it after 10 to 12 months because the price drops a lot in Brazil... and I liked that it has 12GB and better cameras.
I also wait 10 months here in Norway. Got a nicely used fold5 couple of weeks ago for 660$, that's a good price for me.. Then I'll sell it used for 450$ a month before the fold8 comes out, and get the fold7 used for around 660$.. Upgrade every second year used is the way to go for me 🎉

Saw a z flip 6 in person and while it is pretty, cost and durability still give me pause. After trading in a non-samsung phone, it would cost me ~$850 to get it and I'm just not sure it's a device that will last me a while (especially with two young kids)

I''m trading my 5 for the 6 and having to pay $425 which includes the paltry $22 military discount. On point, I guess Samsung knows what they are doing by decreasing the trade-in value. I'll be looking forward to the 50 mp camera and other improvements but do admit, many will not go for this deal having to pay $400 plus.

I have a Flip 5. The so called "upgrades" on the Flip 6 are just hyped window dressing. It's definitely NOT worth upgrading, IMO.

Yeah, when I was watching the unpacked event, and he said they get 7 years updates, i was like 😮 because i had the flip 3 and now the flip 5 and these phones are fragile and i cant even get the screen protector to last 6 months! Im switching to s24 plus ive decided. I love the look of my flip but charging it twice a day is getting annoying.
Want an external screen? Grab the razr 2024 for $400 less.
2023+ user that external screen is amazing! Wasn't worth paying for the 2024 when it was my first flip and is flipping awesome. Got android 14 yesterday so very happy

I paid 57 after tax to drade my 4 fornthe 5 but then i had to upgrade for 450. I did begrudgingly preorder the 6 cause it is worth the upgrade to me

I am trading in my Iphone 13 Pro Max 512gb for the Flip6 through ATT. They have me $1100 trade-in for the 512gb version of the Flip 6.
Pretty sure I'm going to get the Razr+ 2024. Especially with all of the updates they've done to the 2024 Razr+, it just appeals to me more. I had the ZFlip4 and traded it in for the S23 Ultra. The colors, update, and design of the Z Flip 6 are just not that exciting or as appealing to me. The Flip just looks outdated already. And that price increase and lower trade in value = no thank you.
Personally I have never understood the concept. Seems like there are only one way to make a brick. Happy with my S22 Plus. With the price of life, a phone is my last worry as long as I have one that works well.

You absolutely nailed the problem! I heard one comment that the Z Flip 6 is engineered for gamers and the perception that AI is awesome. We'll, I'm not a gamer, I don't care enough about taking photos and definitely don't have an interest in AI right now. For these reasons, and because the Motorola Razr + has everything the Z Flip 6 has, and more, I decided to switch. That's after owning Samsung phones (candy bar and flips) for years.
I just ordered the z flip 6 and I saved $1, 036.99 with the trade-in value of $800 and some discount coupons that Samsung gave me for being a loyal customer over the years.

If someone is married to the Samsung Universe, the Flip6 is a decent upgrade from the Flip5, even with the lower trade-in value. Otherwise, the Moto Razr50 Ultra is a better phone.
Too expensive to upgrade from flip 5 to 6. My phone still is in perfect condition. Not enough upgrades to stomach 350+ bucks for the 6

I don't like that the 2024 Razr+ ditched the ultra wide for a not so great zoom camera. If the zoom was more impressive, I could understand but it's not.

I think the trade-in values of yesterday were mainly incentives to get people to buy the phone.
Samsung no longer needs to offer those now that the Z flip has a well established name and "audience".

It's funny Att said I could trade in my S24 Ultra for the 512 gb Z Flip 6 for a even trade I don't think it's a even swap my phone is paid off and if I do the trade I get 3 years of bill credits locking me in to a contract and loose the extra cameras and S-pen and screen quality but I would have to stay for 3 years for the phone to be free I like to live unlocked and like you said it used to be a way better trade deal I guess we gotta watch 😂 the carrier closely

But you didn't pay just $150, the $150 is in addition to the cost of the phone you used to trade in for the z flip 5.

I would only be a buyer of one of these devices that they replace it or repair it for free if anything happened with the crease. If not they can do you know what with it😮 it's more of a novelty item. Just to impress your friends. For that girl you like. Probably better off getting the Samsung s24 Ultra.

I bought a flip 6, coming from an S10 simply due to its size, I have large hands so the taller screen isnt an issue.. Its just so much smaller than the current phones out there, and I already have issues with the s10 falling out of my pocket because I cycle a lot :D

@EconomyisFine-oe1se Nope. Wife likes the small form factor and the only issue we've ever had was a peeling screen protector, which Samsung replaced for free. Any other issue we would have covered by insurance. I realize that high priced items require insurance not unlike a house, car, etc...
