  • I am very happy that i am able to present a dyno video of this oldschool classic made by Rockford Fosgate - The Punch 75 HD power test !
The performance of this little guy was impressive especially the fact that this
amplifier stayed nicely cool during the tests.
Of course the amp has been tested for continuous output power and dynamically with burst signals!
    Enjoy :)

Awesome video. Thanks for your hard work. When I was young I had very little experience with rockford fosgate. All the dealers close to me had alpine, kenwood,Sony, pioneer,, and only hifonics and orion or soundstream. I am in canada. I went for a trip to the USA I went to a shop that had rockford fosgate. The man said let me show you our store demo car. It was a fox body mustang. He had 8 punch tens on a punch 75. And I think 5 punch 30 bridged for the front. He says "this car is running just under 250 watts for competition " I couldn't believe it. After that I was hooked on rockford fosgate 😊

Thank you for your nice words 😀👍 Here in germany we had a similar situation. In early 90s I never heard about Rockford , Hifonics , mtx etc.
We had some German brands ( don’t know if they produced their stuff in germany or just imported from far east ) like Magnat, weconic, Blaupunkt and of course alpine Kenwood and pioneer or Sony.
In 94 I got my punch 40 ix from a guy who worked a very long time at a big known electronics shop and convinced me to buy a 2 x 20 Watt amp from Rockford 😉 It was a good decision to get this amp 👍😃 the shop closed last year, it was one of the best shops were you could get electronic stuff locally.

I helped make them by hand in the late 80s.. yes..i made punch amps .and repaired at rockford..

Great video of one of my favorite “3” RF amps from the 80’s like the Punch 45, 75, & 150 and I owned all of them back then with great results! I still own my Punch 45HD I’m using in my Honda with a Kicker Gold Series 10” DVC4 in a factory Skar rhino coated box & I’m listening to this video on! What really made these amps special was you could run it in stereo on door speakers and tweeters and then run a sub at the same time off the orange and brown leads! “What an amp!”#RF❤#thePunch45HD🥊#🔊❤️

I have a couple of old ones. My repair bud said 20 years ago they were ahead of the game in quality.

    Great video, as Always.
I hope you can test the Punch 150 amp next! I think it's around 120w per ch. continuos, and 370w bridged mono, at 4 ohms. Thanks for the video!😮

Thanks for your comment also as always 😀
I think the 150 will do more 2 ohms mono 😎 there is one around but connectors aren’t original and price is too high , not good to make a video of it. It should be cheaper if modified or in original condition, but it has to be checked whether It’s original or not because of the bad cap problem 🙁

The reason why those old punch amps don't get hot is because the heat sink isn't as efficient as the punch 100 200 DSM etcetera IX amplifiers if you take the bottom panel off of that amplifier and you touch the transistors on the rail that connects to the heat sink will be hot I promise you

I have this same amp and replaced the two small caps on that PIM board, Luckily I still had some trace to solder to. I know you can get a replacement board from crazylogic007 but can you go into detail how you repaired this amp?

    • @audiokeller1975
      @audiokeller1975  Месяц назад +1

Yes, I know the guys who have spare boards for this amp but I am located in Germany, shipping is way too expensive ☹️ but I rewired the damaged traces of this board, if I remember correctly, the traces were for the opamps power supply- I have to rewatch my own video 🤘😊😂

@@audiokeller1975 Oh that's to bad about the shipping, I have a punch 45HD that was repaired with one of his boards and it works great. I pretty much got lucky with my 75HD the caps didn't corrode to much of the board.

No Dynamic headroom? Rockford Fosgate is known for their dynamic headroom. I’ve watched many of Big D’s amp videos and the AD-1 shows tremendous dynamic headroom. One- buy an AD-1. Two- get your amp professionally repaired.

    • @audiokeller1975

      Hi 👋
I know about it and you will see dynamic headroom especially at lower impedances 👍 , ONE: no way, never!!! I test dynamic power with all cycles at same voltage level, most manufacturers allow first 5 cycles high and the rest of the cycles go dramatically down and they take the highest cycle for power calculation😂😂 if I would test like this, you will see higher headroom.
TWO: I repair amps by myself , built my first amp 30 years ago.
As long as my results are close to Rockfords birthsheets I continue to do it with my slightly harder rules. Check out my other videos, there are RF amps around which deliver way more dynamic headroom. The 75 delivers also dynamic headroom into lower impedances. If you check birthsheets of the 75 you will see values at 2 ohms between 90 and 120 Watts, I am at 115 with this 75, so not defective and Rockford put the dynamic values into their birth sheets. All amps i test are checked for faults and I always readjust the idle current to keep them safe ✌️
