  • Another nice oldschool car audio amplifier from 1996 arrived for a dyno run and sound test! Thanks to people like you the videos keep coming up!
The Infinity Kappa 202a did a good job on the amp dyno!
The efficiency at 4 Ohms mono ( 2 Ohms per channel ) was still good, so i decided to do a dynamic 1kHz sinus burst output power test at 2 Ohms mono which is 1 Ohm per channel.
Burst tests were made with 20 and 8 cycles. The 1 Cycle test is just for fun!
The linearity of the amp was the best i tested so far, other amplifiers loose a few or more watts if the power test frequency changes from 1kHz to 50Hz - not the Kappa 202a!
Thanks to all supporters and people who provide amplifiers for a dyno video!

    Nice amp, nice video!
Never had one of these amps, but it seems to perform very good.
The Punch 6002 amp from 2004-6, should've had similar results, but it didn't! It came very short of the 740w advertised in it's website.😮

I put 50 amp fuses in this amp ran it bridged with rise i would see around 1.6- 2.1 ohm on rise and this amp sounded every bit of 1k rms or better it did run prettt hot wired that low but a hi flow fan kept it from thermal shut down

That sounds *really* good 😳 I usually can't be bothered with YT "sound tests", but man, that actually does sound as sweet as honey. That efficiency is almost unbelievable too. You would be pretty happy to own that beauty, I wouldn't waste it on running a sub

      Thanks bro 👍
I usually see no sense of making soundtests because RUclips crops the quality also a little bit. I made an opinion poll on soundtests here on RUclips because I sometimes thought they are useless but most people seem to like it so I continue making soundtests. 😃

@@audiokeller1975 You must not only have a really good recording setup, but it tuned well too. To be able to really hear what the amp and speakers truly sound like, they have to be the worst quality products in the recording and playback pipeline, and I wouldn't think many viewers have a full separate component DAC + power amp + speaker setup. And even if you do have a somewhat nice high-ish end system, yes the RUclips compression is pretty horrible to the audio.
Well, I will say that Big D's (Williston Audio Lab) recordings of his Elac bookshelves on his amp listening tests have not a glint of the quality and character that I got from listening to your video. I don't know what speakers you are using but the tweeters seems super nice, airy and light, speedy, ribbon like but without the obvious lack of the lower end. Maybe it's the mastering of the song, but I doubt it. Keep the videos coming. I would also love to start a amplifier testing channel one day!

Die soll damals auch nicht ganz günstig gewesen sein, preislich in etwa wie die Punch 500M.

@@audiokeller1975 the center plate? Maybe i do remember taking out the clamp screws and sliding the board out.

I also tried to slide out the board but no luck. I guess I would have destroyed the insulator pads if applying more violence 🤔 David, is there an amp you didn’t work on? 👍😃
