@@Rookie30590 they'd have to have people designated as starters and have starters play a minimum amount of minutes a game to count as playing in the game....otherwise I could see players like Embiid trot out there for a couple of possessions and say they played in the game.
Michael Jordan completed a grueling full workout before games for his career and he was super resilient to injury. Karl Malone and John Stockton were the same, never out from injury.
I agree! Any commissioner should have to have played a minimum amount of years in the league....they have a literal egg head at the helm making decisions now.

The thing that pisses me off the most about this is it's the fans that pay the ultimate price. I know the owners pay these guys salary, but if the fans are not paying for tickets or if fans are not watching the games on TV there would be no TV deals. All the money the team makes is because of the fans without fans there is no 50 million dollar contracts and what makes me mad is these players want max contracts knowing they are not gonna play games equal to that contract which basically equals to these players stealing money from the fans.

@@TheRealMindCrime The CBA probably doesn’t allow for it, I mean I came up with it with a few minutes of thought. Thibs was Celtics assistant coach on the 08 title team. He was basically their defensive coordinator. And Marbury is a superstar out there. He's been there for years. They even built him a statue.

I boxed. From my experience, I would say 2 to 3 months "no breaks" before the play offs. Different sports but the idea is the same. You just need an extended period where you are used to the intensity. Load management early in the season isnt a massive deal.
According to Stat Muse there were 17 starting players that played all 82 games last year. Most notably Sabonis, Bridges, Reeves, Jalen Green, Holmgren and Barnes (all of whom played at least 29 minutes per game). A quick search seems to indicate that this is down roughly half of where things have been over the years (67-68 had 27 players, 75-76 had 32, 86-87 had 34... I quit looking after that).
Pierce was stabbed before the season then still played 82 games. Pierce was with Thibs in 2008 he was an assistant coach to Doc Rivers that year. My favorite KG quote ever "Give a guy $100 Million and you'll find out how hungry he is" I think KG wants to support the young guys purely because he loves the game. I disagree with Pierce, and agree with you these cupcakes today will just find ways to not work that is their nature, there's no pride any more in playing a full season. KG was also out there with professor as an NBA Ambassador so he probably had to just promote the NBA
Thibs was in Boston from 2007-2010 with Pierce. I'm sorry. They're getting paid to play a game. If you can't show up, you shouldn't get paid. If you're injured, you get a piece of what you normally get. Pay by position and you earn more the better you play. The sad part of it all is that this used to be common sense. It used to be a point of pride to play all 82 for your fans. There was no thought about sitting out
MJ highlighted this issue I believe in his interview with Oprah. He said how these guys are getting all this money without proving themselves and now that is even more amplified as even Role players are paid huge contracts. Players normally play hard to get those big max deals but when you’re already maxed u got no reason to grind.
Yeah i remember that well. He called it. They get paid on potential now instead paid after they prove themselves. I'm glad he sold the team and got out cuz I bet these young dudes were driving him nuts.
@ I also believe that whoever is face of league influences all. MJ face of league tried to play every game which poured down to his competition. Then u can debate who was face in 2000s Kobe or Duncan Kg ect they all were fierce competitors. Then came Lebron slacking on defence and load managing missing 20 games year then Kawhi Leonard followed along and young guys see that they think they can just do that too.
I agree 100% with you here. Thats what happens. The face of the league sets the tone for the league. Thats why i want Lebron to retire. I'm hoping someone who actually cares will be the next face
I understood load managing for the older players. When Duncan was late 30’s and taking a game every other week or so that’s fine. But look at his games played, it wasn’t as often as people lead you to believe. Players who aren’t even in their prime yet are load managing. Shortening the season is letting the players win, that is not the answer. Paid by game is the answer. Say someone sings a 41m dollar contract that’s 500k a game. They wanna sit out 20 games, they only get 31m. Seems like the solution to me. Now I feel like people getting legit injuries should still be compensated somewhat, maybe not full amount but maybe half. And this should only apply to top tier players. The end of the bench should be guaranteed because they aren’t expected to play every game anyway.
In 2009 when KG had a non-contact knee injury that ended up keeping him out through the playoffs, the Celtics had to lock him out of practice because he was doing the drills on the side on his bad knee, working just as hard as ever, because his appetite was too strong. It wasn’t good for him, but it goes to show who we are hearing from here.
Embiid's messing up the whole organization, all the way down to the fans. I wouldn't buy a ticket to see that crap when you know there's a high chance that Embiid isnt playing and the rest of the team is phoning it in.
Consistency builds the body. If you don't tell it what you want to be able to do by doing it, your body will never be able to handle doing it. The body builds itself by adapting. It cannot adapt to something you don't consistently do. In my opinion, if they aren't planning and striving to play all of the games, get them out. They will keep doing it until players start getting cut. Greg Lloyd, the 90's OLB for the Steelers, was at the time one of the most feared defenders in football. He showed up to Steelers training camp with a big head, slacking, knowing he'd have the starting role. Bill Cowher cut him.
I’ve been saying this, are you HURT or INJURED? If you say you’re hurt or not feel good but can play and ask to sit out cut your pay, but if you’re injured and can’t play, then it’s all good we work thru it. Simple
They should experiment with paying for performance, it would help in a lot of ways. Guys who are on minimum contracts would get higher compensation for when they have breakout years and get a lot of minutes. Guys who have monster years when their new contract is up would have to continue their high performance to get the full pay. Make it a bonus situation that awards efficiency and penalizes low effort. They need to reward competition and get rid of the diva attitude, most of all give the fans a high quality product.
When Embid got to the 76ers Philly told Embid take the season off and trust the process. The 76ers have made this acceptable. Ben simmons and now Paul George has that same mindset.
totaly agréé, pay them one game at the time, cause they're killing today's game. people like Simmons, kwahi, embid, ... it should be that way. for the 1st time KG is saying something that's makes sens
Yes, Pay them per game so they actually show up to work just like literally every other person on the planet has to do. Why are they getting special treatment?
Cuz ball dribbling is so important. Much more so than a man who lays brick for a living. Think about it, youcan live without a house, but could you live without basketball? Thats why they make so much money, because dribbling good and jumping high is just that important 😂
Honestly, i miss the fact guys dont want to guard each other. I wanna see tatum matchup with durant or lebron. And its like guys dont want to do that anymore. Theyd rather sit out.
Played all 82 games and his knee was wrecked. Had black tar liquid drained from his knee every few days to keep playing. His teammates like T Lou tell the stories about and MJ never complained about it. Just kept showing up to hoop
i dont even watch nba anymore. last year was the first time in my life i didnt watch a single game at all! it fucks over people who actually buy tickets. imagine saving up to go see a game and the best player decided to take the day off. thats hthe other thing...its the best players in the league playing the least amount of games, hows that good for business or team morale?
If the everyday person has to show no every single for work (barring sickness and vacation) then the athlete who signs their contract should as well. Also, a decrease in the season means decrease in money. I believe the biggest issue is guaranteed money. These GM’s need to stop guaranteeing these contracts to players who will sit out
Agreed. Guaranteed money has to end. Get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars every time you play a game should be good enough motivation to go out there and play basketball
Serbian top pro bball teams play around a 100 games per year. Serbian Basketball League, Serbian Super League, Serbian Cup, ABA league, and Euroleague. Depending on the playoff run, about 90-100 games per year, excluding national competitions.
If they don't care about awards whats to stop em from saying I'm only gonna play 50 games? Or I'm only gonna play home games? The problem here is too many players are paid like they're superstars so they believe they are. And many of these players don't truly love basketball. They love the fame, girls, and $$$ that comes with basketball. Also, Adam Silver is responsible. He's let players do whatever tf they want. The man is a jellyfish.
I'm healthy, so I'm taking the day off. I'm hurt, so I'm taking even more time off. I just got a whopping new contract, so I'm out tonight. BAH! It's kind of like WWE wrestling. If you aren't used to taking bumps, you have a much higher chance of getting hurt. You aren't used to the physicality. And today's players aren't used to hardly ANY physicality. So, when they get hit, of course they get hurt. And why is KG wearing sunglasses indoors? It's not like it's bright on that set. 🤣 You shorten the season, just change the name of the league, because none of the new stats will count for damned thing. And the teams better damn well pay them WAY less. What, you gonna play single game elimination in the playoffs and best 2 of 3 in the Finals? GTFOH with that crap. No simple solution?? Play the games. All 82 if you can. And if you can, you should be proud. Most of the 'superstars' these days can't even commit to 65 for awards. Soft as mashed potatoes.
What's sad for Paul George he left one soft half assed player, and is on another team with the same effect. Paul wants to build team chemistry. He wants to battle with the Celtics, Cavs, Knicks in the Conference.. how? When you can't build repoir with your "superstar". Garbage.
Kawhi was never soft or half assed we have never known the full extent of his injury because he doesn't talk alot. Fully healthy hed bully any of your favorite players
@TheRealMindCrime what's funny is LeBron calling himself the GOAT. Goat doesn't mean best....it's predictive programming for Satan worship. Goat = baphomet, the Satan worship symbol. They put up statues in recent years, Springfield IL by example. So we have a bad guy who says ain't no party like a Diddy party, calls himself the goat....the guy is telling everyone flat out that he's a Satanist.

Agreed! I wouldn't be buying tix out there either. Get rid of Embiid and I'd pay to go support Maxey lol
Embiid is the same guy crying that he can’t do it by himself and he gave up on his team before the season even started😂😂
Lol exactly. He can't even show up by himself or with help now. How long til he realizes the HE is the problem? 😆
If you say you’re hurt or not feel good but can play and ask to sit out cut your pay,
but if you’re injured and can’t play, then it’s all good we work thru it. Simple
James harden does pretty well with playing, last year he played 72, Tatum is up there with 74, brunson, shai was 78. Theres a few out there.
Mikal Bridges hasn't missed a game in 6 seasons. Tho not the superstar status as these guys.
It should be like that. Each game played you get paid unless injured. Just do not fake an injury because that looks real bad and can be penalized.
Agreed 👍
If I'm getting paid $30 million a year to play basketball... I'm not complaining about back to backs.
yeah, no way, I'm showing up with a big ole smile on my face
Krazy !! He can get hurt in any game played !!
exactly! might as well retire at this point if he's afraid to play
I think so too. Its gone too far and the system has been exploited. Time to restructure contracts
Thibs was an assistant coach in Boston during their championship run. That's why their defense was so stingy.
Yup. That makes total sense. I forgot he was there
Thibs was an assistant for the Celtics before becoming the Bulls head coach
Thank you 🙏
When Embid got to the 76ers Philly told Embid take the season off and trust the process. The 76ers have made this acceptable. Ben simmons and now Paul George has that same mindset.
Tibs was an assistant coach for Boston’s before he went to chi town
🙏
totaly agréé, pay them one game at the time, cause they're killing today's game. people like Simmons, kwahi, embid, ... it should be that way. for the 1st time KG is saying something that's makes sens
What KG said… 😎
(I have NOTHING to add to that)
I like that you're wearing the sunglasses like KG too 😎
@@TheRealMindCrime😁 On purpose! KG is my #2 Top Defensive player of All Time Behind GOAT.
Yeah KG is a defensive nightmare
God I miss the bullls , the knicks , .. I just miss the old NBA
Me too man. I miss toughness in sports
Pierce thinking of today's players like they're yesterday's players. KG knows what's up with this generation.
Agreed. These guys don't love the game now.
It's a mental and integrity thing, it's too easy to get the paper and then Ben it. You don't play we don't pay...
Agreed. Ben exploited the system. It was inevitable. Now its time to make sure this can't happen again
Absolutely.give these spoiled modern players a reason to work hard like the rest of society
Agreed! ☝️
Yes, Pay them per game so they actually show up to work just like literally every other person on the planet has to do. Why are they getting special treatment?
Exactly. They get paid a ton so pay them when they show up and do the job.
Cuz ball dribbling is so important. Much more so than a man who lays brick for a living. Think about it, youcan live without a house, but could you live without basketball? Thats why they make so much money, because dribbling good and jumping high is just that important 😂
12:25
Thibs was Asst. coach for Boston for like 3 or 4 seasons when Pierce was there
(Edit: wow that timestamp was like, EXACTLY PERFECT, btw/Fwiw 😂)
Lol thank you. Dunno how i forgot that in the moment
Mikal Bridges hasn't missed a game in his entire career. Not even in college or high school.
Oh good call! He's got a lot of potential too
Honestly, i miss the fact guys dont want to guard each other. I wanna see tatum matchup with durant or lebron. And its like guys dont want to do that anymore. Theyd rather sit out.
Me too. Those types of matchups were why we looked forward to watching the games
Adam Silver needs to go. elect Joe Dumars
Joe D would be a good choice
Coach Thibideou was the lead assistant for the Celtics.
🙏
Josh Hart is known for being an iron man consistently playing 82 games and massive amounts of minutes
nice!
Jordan's last season with the Wizards, I heard his knees were just a mess and he still played 81 games.
Played all 82 games and his knee was wrecked. Had black tar liquid drained from his knee every few days to keep playing. His teammates like T Lou tell the stories about and MJ never complained about it. Just kept showing up to hoop
@@TheRealMindCrime What exactly was it that they were draining out of his leg? A mixture of blood and puss?
i dont even watch nba anymore. last year was the first time in my life i didnt watch a single game at all! it fucks over people who actually buy tickets. imagine saving up to go see a game and the best player decided to take the day off. thats hthe other thing...its the best players in the league playing the least amount of games, hows that good for business or team morale?
Yeah i stopped going to games years ago. I don't trust the purchase
Tibs was thee assistant coach for kg and Paul during their title run
I forgot about him and Minnesota. He coached Jimmy Buckets there for a bit as well.
Thank you! Totally slipped my mind while recording this.
@@TheRealMindCrime I would have forgotten to if you hadn't asked lol the question sparked my mind a bit, thanks g. Keep cooking 🫡🫡
Thibs was the celtics coordinator. For the pierce workout story
Thank you. Totally forgot anything Thibs before Chicago when reacting to this one.
Thibs was on the celtics coaching staff before chicago
🙏
Serbian top pro bball teams play around a 100 games per year. Serbian Basketball League, Serbian Super League, Serbian Cup, ABA league, and Euroleague. Depending on the playoff run, about 90-100 games per year, excluding national competitions.
Thibbs was an assistant with Boston before he went to Chicago
Thank you. Slipped my mind while doing this one.
Steph marbury is like the president over there
Yeah if i remember correctly he's got 2 statues and a museum now lol
@ bruh bigger then yao Ming and jackie chan😂
If they don't care about awards whats to stop em from saying I'm only gonna play 50 games? Or I'm only gonna play home games? The problem here is too many players are paid like they're superstars so they believe they are. And many of these players don't truly love basketball. They love the fame, girls, and $$$ that comes with basketball. Also, Adam Silver is responsible. He's let players do whatever tf they want. The man is a jellyfish.
I agree. Its gotten to a popping point
You shorten the season, just change the name of the league, because none of the new stats will count for damned thing.
Man when KG wears those sunglasses indoors he is scary 😆
People argue athletes are bigger, better, faster, stronger, & SOFTER! Especially with all the money they’re getting for a non contact sport.
I agree. To go from Harden and Kawaii to Embiid is terrible luck
Thips was an assistant with boston
Thank you. Totally slipped my mind while recording
These babies shouldn't get a dollar guaranteed. Show your ass up to get a check. These dudes are embarrassing.
Agreed. Work for pay
Along w so many other elites in this realm. 22 years in, LeBalco has 3.5 rings and Epstein STILL didn't kill himself
I like this
Thank you!
Thibs was assistent coach with the Celtics
Thank you 🙏
These players today are severely weak minded
I know. Severely
Quarter of a million dollars per game for all 82 games is 20 million per year.
🤔
That should be good enough lol
