I loved those Hammer Horror classics staring the wonderful Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Dracula, The Mummy and Frankenstein. Loved staying up on Saturday nights to watch them back in the 70s as a youngster. And I very much like your new cupboard in that style, John. You've got a good eye for decor. 👍😀
Yeah as soon as you see the names of Lee and Cushing, you knew you were going to haveca great time 🤩🤩yeah It was the highpoint of the weekend, the good old Hammer double bill...haha yep its back where its lived for 20 years....that cupboard was a wedding present from my wifes Grandmother, 28 years and still going strong 🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
Great video John. I love Hammer Horror and I've double dipped (and sometimes tripple dipped 🙄😮) on many titles in my collection, because I'm obsessed with the different audio commentaries and extras. I can't get enough of them. When i saw the neon Alucard sign, i immediately thought of Kim Newman, the film history expert.

Another great video! Thank you very much for the new story. That made my day, haha! I love Hammer horror and seeing them on Blu-ray is like a gift from God. Haven't seen all of the ones you show in your video, but I have seen about half of them. I am a bit shocked though about one thing you didn't mention about Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, The Horror of Frankenstein and Dracula Has Risen from the Grave, and that is that all three movies have Veronica Carlson in them. In my opinion the best reason to see them, as she is absolutely stunning. Sure, the movies are fun too, but it's her presence in HD that elevates these movies. While I don't find the Hammer horror movies scary (at least nowadays), I do admire the work that went into making them (art direction, costumes, hair, make-up, cinematography). If you enjoy the extra's on those releases you have, I highly recommend getting the Blu-ray of Borley Rectory, which is a animated documentary with horror aspects. One of the best blind buys for me in recent times and have a huge admiration for filmmaker Ashley Thorpe, since I saw it. Now back to writing Mrs. Carlson if she/they still don't want to adopt me...
🤩🤩 that's a good point actually Koroshiya 👌 Veronica Carlson was amazing in all her roles for Hammer, I got to say that maybe my favourite was Ingrid Pitt closely followed by Caroline Munro 🤩yes there sets and style of Hammer hasn't been captured again, on TV you could instantly tell a Hammer movie!!! I love the Hammer horror films! I wasn’t exposed to them until I was grown and tracked many of them down via the internet. The Frankenstein/Dracula films are great and are significant departures from their counterparts from Universal. The films all have that washed out look, but to me it adds to the feel.

Mondo Chelloveck Movies Absolutely. My parents were the same. My introduction to horror movies was Halloween II at 6 years of age. That began my life long love for the films of John Carpenter. Although, he didn’t direct that particular film by credit, he did make significant changes to it which gave it his unique feel. I also prefer the Hammer horror films to the Universal monster movies. The stories really feel like EC comics stories brought to the screen.

Mondo Chelloveck Movies Halloween 2 is such a smooth transition from the first one as it occurs the exact same night of the first and is set in an absolutely terrifying place- the hospital! It also wraps the film with an odd jingle of ‘Mr. Sandman’ as the killer and the hospital goes up in flames. The film is such an improvement from the first in pretty much every aspect. It’s also a fantastic time capsule of what an early 1980’s hospital looked like- from the grimy baseboard lined hallways, the lighting separation that creates shadowy areas and of course the low tech paperwork driven nurse’s station. This is how it really was back then. A far cry from the over-lit and high tech sanitary hospital environments of today. Needless to say, a huge impact on me. I can also go into depth about the third entry as I have a lot of love for that film as well.

Fantastic video John, i think those three disc Lionsgate Blu-rays are slowly going out of print now, Monster from Hell is £25 on cex and The Mummy is even more expensive, there are four from them but i only own two, i also think some of them came with another movie in the extra's, i am also in the same boat as you regarding US on 4K, expected the slip which didn't come lol, thanks for the video and will try and watch part 2 soon. P.S Frankenstein created woman in the extra's came with a doc called Hammer glamour, i know the U.K Blu-ray of the Witches comes with the same doc, well i hope its the same, its around 40 minutes, been after that doc for a while now, thanks mate.

Great video and channel - I’m currently trying to track down all of the older dvd editions of the Hammer films, including the pretty rare OOP Anchor Bay releases of films like Scars of Dracula and Dracula POD.

I love Frankenstein series so it's frustrating that Monster From Hell blu-ray is out of print and pretty expensive. I think Shout Factory just released it in USA but it's the shorter version! ☹️
Finally received my Warner Archives release of The Curse of Frankenstein yesterday! Looks absolutely stunning and the extras are nice as well. Highly recommended! 👍🏼

It refers to the production company Hammer films Productions that started in the 30's in the UK and released general movies of most genres but in the 50's till the 70's they hit their strde when they released horror movies...hence Hammer Horror. They seem to have a look and feel of their own and (especially on TV in the 70's 80's) where peoples "go to" Horror. the ealry frankenstein the monster had to be different its only in the later 1s he had a flat head because universal held the rites to the film
