- I tried the Rhythmic firmware for the first time on the Soma Cosmos today and realized that it has a little bit of the original firmware to play with as well. In this example, I try and recreate my first workflow with it, encounter a "problem" and learn how it works because of it ;)
Hope you learn something as well, and expect more from this in the future!

The beauty (and occasional frustration) of Soma gear is its true charm. When you hit that sweet spot, though...
Indeed, sometimes out of chaos and randomness comes beauty :)
Nice honest vid 👍🏼
Haven’t tried this firmware yet.
Still loving the original.
The Cosmos delivers exactly what I’ve been looking for on many levels. ✌🏼🍄
Yeah, it is a journey... I am gonna try all the firmwares... also the pitch firmware are interesting, texture wise... "recording" high notes and pitch it down... compress, and blur :) So much nice things...
That "redefine the loop length" trick is no joke! Thanks very much for finding that and spreading the word.
Sharing is caring.... I really like to share my enthusiasm :)
i am so glad this demo includes a "mistake". so many videos are scripted and perfect and that's not at all the fun of these devices; we always learn more this way!
Thank you! Yeah, I try to showcase my full experience with the gear… as raw as it gets ;)
Inspiring....thanks for sharing this!
My pleasure!
this device is genius - with all the possibilities of different firmware - love it ! i am 62 years old.
Genius is a pretty good description yes ;)
Very well explained! Curious to learn more about the many options thanks to 5 (!) different firmwares.
Yeah, I will explore them all... except for the Quadra one, since I don't have two (yet) ;)
Enjoyed it! I like the unscripted laid back approach. It’s a very interesting device. And despite setbacks it’s clear you find it useful and satisfying. What is that amazing iridescent object? I really like the entire aesthetic here.
Yeah, I like the unpredictability of the workflow... it creates random things in the moment and then just roll with it.
Oh and the stone? I always forget the name ;) Some comments on my video will have the name in it... when I know it again, I will share
Looks like labradorite! My fav stone specifically the blue flash cuts. I have these as ear plugs such a beautiful natural creation
You demonstrated exactly why I did not get this... I don't understand why they did not add the ability To save and recall loops... As it stands, you need to record everything because it's virtually impossible to recreate anything if you stumble onto somthing wonderful...
It should be do-able to recreate the cosmos with Ableton right? That could be your solution!
Tap tempo firmware update would be soo cool
If they would open a Wishlist for updates, I could think of some stuff too ;)
great video. if you buy a new cosmos is the firmware already on it or you stll need to download it??
You need to download it and put it on a usb stick.... the unit itself can only hold 1 firmware...
interesting....however this sounds like it's just a MONO recording, which is not using the main functionality of the unit, which is its' stereo manipulation
Ahhh yes, I didn't even notice that... Now I am wondering if it is a mistake in my recording, or that it actually is mono....I will test that out...
In my other video ( ruclips.net/video/O_Cz-XSSCZw/видео.html ) it is stereo, so I think I messed up my recording here... thanks for spotting it :)
Stereo - such a big part of what the Cosmos is about......
thanks for sharing :)
Thank you for watching!
So this update combines both original and rhythmic firmware? Cheers ❤
No, I loaded the rhythmic firmware...
Sounds a bit more like a Hologram product with the new firmware
I haven’t tried a Hologram product yet… but I believe you :)
Thank you now I know it’s a pure Ambient machine.
Well, now you make it a challenge to make other genres with the COSMOS... haha (although I'd prefer ambient'y music)
not impressed
By the Rhythmic firmware?
