Looking forward to seeing you progress through the sewing of your coat. The fabric looks beautiful. I made an Octave coat a few years ago to fulfill the exact need you’re describing. It’s in pristine condition; like you said, I don’t wear it often, but it’s great to have for those rare occasions.
I look forward to your videos and enjoy the feeling I get of hanging out in the sewing room together and don't worry if you can't respond to my comments. Sometimes I just like to let you know how much I appreciate you making these videos so I have company. I have a wonderful sewing room here but no "sewing community" close by so it can be quite isolating and the rise of sewing you-tube has been a lot of fun.
I wonder if you left off the collar and made it a collarless coat, it might be more sleek and modern that way, especially since you don't really need the collar for warmth. just a thought. i think the camel will go a long way towards making it look more classic and chic.
I think we all follow your channel because you are so "real," and this video just proves that point. I also think we can all relate to what you described in one way or another - no one has it "all together," and we all have something that we deal with - one of the reasons the RUclips sewing community is so wonderful is that it is so supportive. I know what you mean about the coat looking a little frumpy but it's amazing what a good fabric can do for an otherwise plain style and I bet that's what happens here - the quality of the fabric lifts up the results to a higher level.
I’m so excited you’ll be making the Newcomb coat! My plate is way too full to work on a coat right now, but maybe during the holidays I’ll have some time and make myself one. 💞
Hi Carol, I can’t wait to see your weekly updates on this make, it will be interesting to see how it will turn out. I really like the fabric 🙌🏻🙌🏻. I downloaded the pattern, but I don’t have the right fabric for it, and I don’t want to buy it. And, I really don’t need a heavy coat at this moment 🤣🤣. I look forward to seeing you Saturday 😉😉. Take care my friend 💖💖.
I echo the sentiments of the group ….you will be okay . You are in all of our prayers. I think each of us have a touch of depression most times. Find your happy place (sewing). Take what you need to find that balance. Abundant blessings to you😊.
That coat has a lot in common with a Peacoat style. Thats a coat I want to make. Please put me on the zoom list. Thanks ❤ Oh, I forgot to say that Lexapro is my friend.
Carol, I love your coat fabric - I think it’s a timeless look. If you are thinking the coat will serve you for dressier occasions, you may want to consider lengthening it rather than shortening it. A midi length coat will look good with pants and boots, even a dress, and would need little or no waist shaping. If you want to dress a long coat down a bit, you might consider leather or suede for collar, pocket welts, even the binding for the buttonholes. Hope you have fun with this project!
I love the coat pattern. I have to force myself to look away from all the coat patterns for the same reason. Very short season for wearing it. It is supposed to turn fall weather here tomorrow!! The coat might suit your taste more with a more pointed collar.
Please get assessed for ADHD! The things you said are big markers - can't do things, being told you're irresponsible and lazy, and it can be comorbid with depression or it can be mistaken as depression. Late diagnosis changed my life.
Winter, early darkness and the holidays are hard for me

You are just awesome and I appreciate your honesty. I am here when ever you post. Love the work you do.
Carol, no explanation needed. I think all of us have been there in some former fashion in their lives. Moving On! The coat Fabric is beautiful!❤

I think that wool color will look great with your hair!

In spite of antidepressants, I still have problems with lack of motivation sometimes. A good pattern and great fabric will really help overcome that!

I saw that coat this morning. It's a nice looking coat.
Pattern may seem doughty, but with the right fabric choice, could be magnificent 🎉❤

Me too polly
