I have both these watches (my Pel is black). They're both brilliant; you'll be very happy with either. Other things to bear in mind: 1) Sizing the bracelet on the breitling is an epic nightmare. Watch a RUclips video first. 2) The Pelagos bracelet is easy to size but be very careful with the screws. 3) The titanium on the tudor is not coated like a citizen or sinn titanium watch. As a result, this watch will mark if you look at it sideways, BUT if you get a proper titanium refinishing pad it comes up very nicely. 4) The clasp on the tudor is genius; the clasp on the breitling is average at best. 5) The ar coating on the breitling is very good, but its insane on the Pel - it makes the glass almost invisible. 6) Robs point about the bezel action on the Pel is spot on. I think it's probably the second best bezel action I've ever experienced after a scurfa diver one (which is a $300 watch - sounds nuts but imho its true). Cheers.
Great comps. I went through similar arguments with myself over which diver to purchase. Narrowed it down to superocean 42, black bay 58 and seamaster diver. I thought the seamaster diver looked best online, but in person, was too elegant (great watch, but not toolish in any way shape or form-but still love it). After looking at the the bb58 and superocean, decided on the superocean and would have liked to get three (orange and black, black and black, and blue and black. Finally settled on the black and black and have not regretted. It will always be a part of the collection. Last year I was able to pick up a black bay 58 bronze boutique edition in cologne. This is a fabulous watch. The dial, hands, layout are mesmerizing. You should definitively look at that 925, because if it’s anything like the boutique bronze, you’ll love it.
i handled the blue pelagos a few days ago, really beautiful watch but i think i would like the black dial version slightly more. nice video rob, cheers 👍🏼
When did you find yourself wearing the Pelagos? The super ocean fits great on you, looks real comfortable. I have same concerns about buying the Pelagos.
I have the SO II 42 and would not trade it for anything. Runs at +2 and Breitling bracelets are super comfortable. I love the clasp which is small and minimal, yet very functional. I also like the shorter power reserve so it doesn’t run for 3 days when I rotate watches.
Tudor for me, both great watches but correct me if I’m wrong but Tudor in house, Breitling not, Tudor titanium Breitling steel. Tudor adjustable clasp, Brietling manual adjustment. Hands down the Tudor
@@longlivemetal1997 can’t agree with you bro if we speak about SO and any Tudors but agree SOH2 is definitely great quality and even maybe better than Tudor. But SOH2 almost 2k more expensive than Tudor Black bays I didn’t see 50% better watch. If speak about preown market - ok but is completely different watches no comparable for versatility on the wrist 🤔
@@watchwanted6580 but rolex isn’t 2x the finishing of tudor even at retail. To each his own i guess its a personal preference. I own a pelagos and a superocean heritage 2 and i love my Breitling more
pelagos.....you better like black or blue. i happen to love that tudor watch, but i own that very breitling. no its not the best at anything, but it just works. looks fantastic, so comfortable. i paid 3,300 for mine brand new out the door.
My dad was showing me this video, haha he really wants a Pelly. I told him it would definitely be his favorite watch and he wants to trade his basically brand new AT to do it but doesn't want to pay out of pocket... ugh going to the AD tomorrow I don't think they'll sweeten a trade that much but we're going to try. May come back with a Pelly, hopefully will come back with a Pelly.
Mr Rob I have a question on your BSO since you have two I’m sure you can find out. I just bought a new BSO 42 Blue dial and I noticed my date changes 4 min after midnight. It starts to move slightly ten minutes before midnight, but it totally clicks over around 4 min past midnight. Should I be concerned or is it normal to be a little off. Can you maybe let me know if your watches are doing similar things? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
WOW perfect video I am getting ready to make a big purchase . And these two are on the list … I’m thinking of buying a Seamaster or a Speedmaster monmwatch, and then also buy a pelagos or superocean
The same feeling about 👍 I have the same SO42 and SOH2 42 and four Tudors FXD, LHD, Bb41 classic and Silver. Can say next: 58925 not for everyone but this is really my favorite watch, this grey simple the best, it’s one watch for everything 👌 LHD is awesome tool and so cool in details is really special 👌 fxd21 is my sub, really super stylish casual watch 👌 Breitlings - SO42 is my favorite summer watch I bought blue Breitling rubber just on point 👌 SOH2 42 is great with Tudor movement very cool watch but very shiny diver, I really didn’t knows how to wear this piece, is too big for a dressy and too shiny for tool diver 😅 thanks for great review 👍🙏
I might have asked for that VS, thanks. I still haven't bought either. I have tried on the SO and like it, but I don't like the price. I just don't think the watch is worth the new or used prices asked. My Tudor AD never has one in the case when I get there so the jury is out. I also got diverted by Grand Seiko and just picked up a new quartz, for less than the SO, that runs circles around it in terms of finishing and style (imo).
Me too, I’ve owned this SO in white but flipped it for the black dial version. I might get the orange dial next if it is still available. I find the Tudor dive range pretty bland, but the Pelagos is the best of the bunch.
FYI, per Watcharts, the blue Pelagos is almost exactly where it was on pricing 6 months ago. It did go up a bit in the spring (along with many watches), but has come back down to an average of $3,786. I really like the Pelagos, but now I have doubts after watching your video. Do I want a bit more bling? Maybe so. I also like the Black Bay GMT as well, which would be slightly less tool-ish, but not significantly so. Then again I love simple Explorer style watches and the IWC Mark XVIII on bracelet is appealing, or maybe 1 of about a billion Grande Seiko models that are very similar. I plan on trying on the IWC in a couple weeks at a local Watches of Switzerland, and putting more Grand Seikos on to see if I can cut down the models really in consideration. Decisions, decisions...
I have an older reference black super ocean 44 and I would love to add a Tudor FXD to my collection one day. The no date movement and the fact that it forces me to not have it on the bracelet are a big selling point to me. I have a bunch of natos and straps that would fit my SO, but I would feel bad taking it off of it’s bracelet because I adore that bracelet. The clasp isn’t anything to write home about, but I love that SO and it means so much to me.
I’ve tried on the Pelagos so many times in all three variations. The chapter ring and the faux patina on the LHD keep me from getting one. Plus, the clasp bearing wear out over time and I’ve seen the white ceramic bezel inserts fall out. Additionally, the titanium scratches really easy and its a fingerprint magnet.
I get what you mean...Owning multiple versions of both and ending up wearing a SuperOcean (36 for my wrist), it's just more compact and has more personality while still feeling "tool watch" enough, instead of "blunt instrument" like the Pelagos. Both have their place, but I actually let go of all my Pelagos' in the long run
Absolutely find myself gravitating to my white Super O. Don’t have the pelly, but love my red bezel Black Bay. Still the Super O wins out. New 300 Zodiac Pro diver (which seems to now be put out of production in that colorway, and co-axial 8500 Aqua Terra are up there too. I do like that bb 58. And C ward land and sea, has convinved me I can pull it off.
Just shows that the more expensive watch is not always the best!! I had BB58 on bracelet for a year and although it's an Amazing do it all watch...it just didn't feel *special* so I flipped it for an Omega SMP300 white dial
I prefer the Breitling, but the new version rather than the previous gen. Bought a Chinese version of the Pelagos to see how I’d like it long-term & it’s OK, but not great … probably destined for the trash bin.
Pelagos by A LOT for me I had the same situation with the Submariner. Obviously an awesome watch. I just didn't connect after a while. I have trouble keeping a watch just because it's a great watch if it does nothing for me Beyond that.

Pelagos is the classic choice - it's fun, super legible, perfect dimensions - it also looks perfect on a blue Bonnetto Cincuri (sp?) blue nato strap
MY GOD! What kind of an AR coating does Tudor use? At times the glass is almost INVISIBLE!
Hey Rob, why did you get rid of your seamaster?
Great video!!
Why did you let go of the white dial Seamaster but kept the Breitling and the Tudor?
The old Superocean has so much character!
Love my blue Pelagos and white dial 300m Seamaster.
The lume on the Tudor clinches the argument for me - I’d be keeping it. But my name’s not Rob.
I really regret selling my blue Pelagos. Might end up getting the black one for a daily watch. I just love the titanium and dial so much.

Pelagos maybe the best Tudor now.
Tudor wins on specs. Breitling wins on personality.
Nah
The Pelagos in different colours might capture more attention and sell more, maybe Tudor will do that when they refresh it?
The watch tan haha I feel that
The Tudor wins for specs but its just not as versatile. So matte, So tool.
Sometimes you want a little bling.
Doesn't like obvious watches everyone else likes. Wants a black bay 58.
“I go random sometimes”
Good watches, but I think both need a cyclops. Good Vid, Rob.
There’s no contest here in my opinion. The Pelagos blows the Super Ocean out of the water in all aspects
Yes he says that but the super ocean is more enjoyable to wear, he wears it much more often, Peli is large, chunky and not versatile
Specs don't make a watch. The Breitling ist beautiful
Love that “specs don’t make the watch”
The Pele is in your opinion a better watch. The Breitling is a better watch
Simple, the Breitling looks better.
Why do I prefer the Breitling even though the Tudor out specs? Because the Tudor is so boring… like the Ranger.
Pelagos by A LOT for me

Super Ocean is jewelry, Pelagos a tool. Take your pick. Me, Pelagos by a mile.
