Gold and ruby red look awesome together. I think it would give off factory vibes too.

Here’s a dis-advanced tip for you. For your next headlight freshen up, us a dual action sander and sand away all of the yellow from the lens. Work through your dry sanding grits ending with 800. Then apply a good quality automotive paint clear coat and reinstall. Guaranteed clear lenses for at least 10-15 years.

Hello Alex, I would do a color match on the brake calipers to the car color with chrome lettering on the caliper. A little different but follows the theme of the Cadillac like the fender badge up by the windshield.
This channel really is insanely good. I always look forward to the next videos. Proper car content done brilliantly, with loads of fun and enthusiasm. All the best guys!
Sweet. You went with the CTS. Though not many people stay consistent with the color-I'm hoping that you powder coat the brakes with red. The car looks awesome wrapped in red. One thing that surprises me is that you didn't pull up a Carfax report to see where/when the car was hit.
For the first time ever the fake explosion actually made me flinch when Alex turned on the heat gun on the high tech oven to heat the headlights. LOL!!!! Good one Max!
Good video. Love the car. Love the red color. I agree with your decision to make it your daily driver. As for the brake calipers, please consider painting them red.
Great video as usual Alex! I noticed in the last part of the video, that the steering column plastic covers appear to be loose. When you were turning the steering wheel, both upper an lower covers were moving. Thanks again for putting out the best automotive RUclips content. Cheers from Guam USA👍
I can say from experience from owning a 2010 version with the 3.6 v6 gas mileage is not much better. I get maybe 17 city and 22 highway. The v8 supercharge version at least makes all the good sounds and has the need for speed!
If you are not planning to replace all four rims, I would take a real hard look at each one for any problems. Sometimes a person just wants to replace the bad ones.
I'll give ya credit you and the wife can cut a hell of a promo. Also you should take some time a do a cool build for Peter. He's a great guy and been with you for quite a while now. Something to think about anyway
Great video guys, can’t wait to see how this one turns out! Also, former android user for over 10 years, finally made the switch to i phone and have loved every minute of it. You just need to give it a chance for a month or so and you’ll see why people love them.
More great content! Thanks, Guys! It's awesome that you take the time to create a daily driver that you can enjoy. If you're going to be in it daily, that's kinda the point. Keep the bloopers, Max.
I'd go in an swap the brake rotors for drilled and slotted ones, while you're getting the calipers powder coated to match the car. Of course I feel for you when it comes to the missing head light cover and the cracked rim you have on the car. But I'm still looking forward to the end result after you put in that 40+ mpg tune on this beast.
Drilled calipers are prone to cracking and don't perform any better than slotted. I agree for a street car that solid is probably better. I replaced my factory Brembo drilled rotors with DBA slotted. They look great.
Android all the way. You definitely get more for your money and it's still cheaper than iPhone. Working at a cell phone store for years, it was always the iPhones coming in with issues whenever a new one was released. Going year 4 strong on my current Android phone with no issues.
I love this series, had followed the car on hoovies prior. But I used to drive an STS V, then after my 2nd daughter was born ; I sold it and had a 3.6 CTS I then spent the next get years "V-Spec'ing" lol. Seeingvyou simply popping the clips rushed back emotions and the struggles were real lol. Great job, that screen mod was STELLAR
I think there's room for enthusiasts like us to still drive ICE powered cars for a while, since we only make up like 1% of the drivers out on the road - we won't make a dent in the environment either way. Plus, you gotta take into account the higher emissions involved in producing electric cars vs gas. Personally, I'll be getting an electric car as the family hauler in a few years; but, I'll still keep a couple ICE cars for weekend fun and to tinker with. Also, I've got solar panels on my house and I'm converting to electric water heating (vs natural gas). My point is that lowering emissions can come in other forms besides your car, and it's okay to feel good about that, because ICE cars are simply way cooler than electric right now.
Nothing wrong with it at all until they have resolved the issues with scaling the ability to charge a lot of cars quickly....or maybe before that it is hydrogen power or even carbon neutral gas. EVs, in their current form, could be a trend and not the actual solution to the problem.
I have been a wagon man since I was a sophomore in High School. I bought a Datsun 510 that a Mechanic was using to haul parts around in. And it was one of the best cars that I have ever owned! My last wagon was a 2010 Pontiac Vibe AWD. One of the only things that I hated about it was that it was automatic. It was basically a mini-4Runner.
Android phones all the way! I love the many many options for phone selection, I love how I can still use a phone from 5+ years ago and not be locked out by Google, I also love the price range! There's also more user accessible choice in configuration and modification of the OS and even the bootloader if you're in to that.
LOVE your channel! If your channel was a radio station and you were DJ Wrench spinning all the automotive hits, I'd call in a request. 1988 (Gotta be an '88) Pontiac Fiero GT! Swap out the stock v6 for a boosted 3800 II. You know how the GN was your all-time dream... 88 Fiero GT is mine! Love your content! And WOW, CTS-V wagon is the best American wagon of all time! My current daily driver is my Grandfather's '92 Buick Roadmaster. Stock 350 V8. Still running. No mods. Needs a ton of cosmetic work from 32 years of dings and weather. Keep wrenching! Awesomely helpful creators like ya'll on RUclips taught me everything I know about repairs. Learned how to do a 75% rebuild on my wife's Honda Oddy when the timing belt took a dump and destroyed the valve stems. Took me 6 months, but it came back to life! God Bless!
As a fellow RUclipsr, I have both. A google pixel 7pro and a Iphone 13pro max. I use my pro max for filming. The film quality of 4k 24fps on the Iphone is amazing and the air drop feature is amazing. I also edit on my macbook pro and Mac studio. I keep my android device because there are just so many other things you can with Android that you cant do with Iphone. But the film and air drop then edit option with Iphone makes it a must have.
Just a reminder that is not a crack on the lense, that comes factory, it’s for the blinker fluid! I’m insulted you didn’t give the factory credit. Haha Love the channel keep up the awesome work!
I wanted to say after the 1st video i hunted and got lucky to find a 2010 V sedan thunder grey and manual. I immediately used your code to buy the grom unit and i love it. The dash pieces and the door pieces have a very light ambient glow at night if you pay attention to dimming the interior lights ;) I want to get a full corsa exhaust, just did a air raid cold air intake really wakes up the blower whine. Hope to see a few more mods on your wagon, maybe a smaller pulley, tune?
Good choice. I’m coming up on 100K miles/4 years in my ‘11 CTS-V wagon, it’s black-on-black with sunroof/Recaros/automatic. It’s stupid fun, reliable, and invisible except to car guys…they recognize the badges and frequently come over to chat. Most annoying aspect is that the flexible black plastic skirt under the air dam is JUST low enough to catch on parking lot bollards.
Are you planning on looking into the Grom unit? I just had one installed in mine, & it makes a huge difference. Best money I’ve spent on a car in quite awhile.
My wife daily’s a 14 CTS-V wagon. Such a fun car. She drove Merc’s for many many years, which are massaged and so redefined. This V wagon is a WAR HAMMER.😂 compared to the previous Merc’s.
I actually went the opposite route that you did. I had a CTS-V wagon with -700 HP and totaled it. I loved that car as a daily driver. The only thing that I didn’t like was the 10-12 mpg. I replaced it with ‘17 Tesla Model S P100DL for my daily driver. I loved that Wagon, but after a year with my Model S, I am still really enjoying it. I did lower it and added some nice forged wheels😅
Owning a CTS myself (Sadly not a V, nor a Wagon) that little illumination strip actually shows up UNDER the chrome trim. Just a tasteful bit of interior lighting. Was interesting to see you tear into the dash of one of these.
Thought I'd add, I love the brotherhood yall have and the positive vibes always. I actually got vinyls made for my extended cab windows on my race truck : " I Hope Something Good Happens To You Today" just for the 1 in a thousand smiles they might get
Great stuff fellas! It would be cool if at the end of a project you tallied up total car and parts costs for reference if that was something you'd be willing to share.
i miss the seats that were in my 89 thunderbird supercoupe. it all the lumbar and side bolster adjustments in the back and bottom. so comfortable. and mine had the option for both front seats, they usually only had the adjustments for the driver seat.
Alex, I have to admit I'm kind of jealous. I have been looking for a second generation CTS-V with low mileage on it for quite a while. But I would absolutely LOVE to have a wagon! Good upgrade with the Recaros too. About a year ago, I drove three different cars at a lot in Salt Lake City and the first one did not have those and the second two did. Huge difference. Unfortunately, I was not able to make a deal on any of them because my bank would not finance vehicles with rebuilt titles, which all three had. Looking forward to the next chapter with this car man, and absolutely love that color! So hard to find them in anything other than black or silver.
I wish you luck with the Grom Vline appliance. I have one in my 2015 Acura and it only works OK. I also did the "Advanced Install" and really wish I wired in a power cut somewhere so I could force reboot it when it screws up. We also get a ton of echo in the microphone. It picks up the person on the other end of the line so they hear themselves twice.
A squib is also a pyrotechnic device. Basically a cup with a charge in it, to look like a bullet is going through something. I've worn ones with blood packs on top.
I did my calipers on my Rosso Competitione Alfa in yellow Ferrari Giallo Triplo Strato. It’s a beautiful pearl yellow and the color really pops in the sun. This or something similar would look great with this color of red.
Alex, give PNP a call and talk to Phil about an interchiller system. He has a vehicle specific kit for your V2. I already told him he should hit you up. I’ve sold a couple dozen kits for them recently for different platforms.
WOW AMAZING VIDEO...!!! I have a CTS Sportwagon as well... I have to say that Vline infotainment is amazing...!!! I have the same setup like you're doing on your wagon. And I also put the box in the same cubby area you're placing yours in. What are the odds? After playing with the Vline for a while, all I can say is... it's amazing. Remember to do all the updates in the Vline and make sure you update the Grom as well... You will have to connect the Vline to Wi-Fi to do all the updates. I've been through two updates due to the fact that I emailed VLine because originally the stock Bluetooth screen that is from the car would supersede the v-line screen while placing or receiving calls... After Vline received my email. They worked on a patch and they updated, I believe all the modules that correspond to the CTS through an update. So it's very important to update the Vline... The only other glitch I ran across with the Vline was when you're on a call and you place the car in reverse. Sometimes the Vline will supersede the backup camera. Other than that, it's amazing... And all your factory buttons on the steering wheel and in the center stack work great... FYI. Download the factory UI icon and place it on the upper part of your screen, preferably towards the driver side. So when you close/put down the screen, you can still press the factory UI icon when the screen is down. Once everything is set up... on your phone you will have general motors connected via Bluetooth for phone calls and Vline2 for everything else including wireless streaming... Welcome to wireless android...!!! Enjoy...!!! If you need any help hit me up...!!! 👍
Great car and awesome additions added. I own a SRX but I would love to own a CTS-V. I did have to take off the front facia to replace the headlight assemblies.
This car in a lot of ways reminds me of late model holden Commodores. The purpose this car fills as a v8 luxury wagon, interior design, reminds me a lot of my housemates VF SSV Redline, which was a sedan but also in very similar department was my past boss's VF HSV Clubsport wagon.
Android auto is SO nice.. I grabbed an older Pioneer AVH 2440NEX and man, it's older, yes, but I have the usb A input run out and i connect my phone to it and I get MY maps, MY music, MY texts, MY phone all through my Stereo. It's SO nice
I have a 2009 CTS-V sedan w/75,000 miles. I have the standard seats, yes, good replacment, on a trip they get a little uncomfortable. If you hammer it on the X-way you will get 16 mpg, drive the speed limit, I have seen 24 mpg. I usually drive 80-100 mph not aggresive, and it will get 22 mpg. Had to replace the front shocks @ 64,000, one started leaking a small amount, ($350 each) @ Rock Auto, a few years ago. My car also has Air Aid, and a Billy Boat exhaust, do not every buy, it is junk, mufflers cracked at the welded seams, took over 6 months to get replaced, they are cracking again. Also have the same Continental Tires, I like them. The chassis on all three versions are the same. I only use Shell gasoline, have my whole life, used it in previous performance cars. GM replaced under warranty, the coupler on the supercharger, it would rattle when turning the car off. It is Thunder Gray, w/light titanium interior, w/silver calipers.
Pearl white and chrome delete was my preference. That red is old lady cinnamon cadi red. Mine had the recaros, but for daily i thought couch seats would be better without having to jump over the bolsters. Do a video on trying getting the swirls out of the trim and everything you used.
I drive a 94 mustang gt 5.0. Its no where near as fast as a modern ev. But the smiles that engine puts on my face everytime i drive it, is why ill never get rid of it. Yall can have the EV's, im good.

Who couldn’t love Peter! Always happy and laughing
Love the inspection of the repair. In my personal opinion the repair was done really nice.

Why would anyone put drilled and slotted rotors on a street car? Waste of money. Race cars use solid rotors FYI.
Drilled calipers are prone to cracking and don't perform any better than slotted. I agree for a street car that solid is probably better. I replaced my factory Brembo drilled rotors with DBA slotted. They look great.
The 99 Escalade(1st gen looks like a Yukon with a front clip) and eldorado had the Navi screen animation
I personally think that the brake calipers would look better in red to match the car rather than the odd looking yellow.
I like the part where Alex speaks Italian, you should do that more often, teach us a new language, one car part at a time
I'm all for saving the planet, but I'm also going to enjoy my gas guzzlers for as long as I can. Am I a hypocrite? Maybe.
If you recycle, you’re doing your part! 😂
If only mining lithium and burning coal to make electricity was saving the planet
I love my 8mpg v8 jeep. Sorry
Your videos make my day man keep it up ! ❤
I was seriously curious which car you were going to keep. I think you made the right choice - especially for your channel and viewers.
Android all the way brother
God Bless!
The Blooper reel keeps me coming back
Honestly I’d go silver on the calipers, simple but yet looks so damn good with the metallic red
Haha
Love the channel keep up the awesome work!
I personally really like the yellow calipers it helps the red paint and chrome rims stand out!! 👌
I have the GROM unit for my Acura. Pretty good system. Love using it for CarPlay, makes the infotainment more up to date! Especially in a 4th Gen TL
Enjoyment in getting a car to the way you want it , going through things and getting to know what you have .
Great video. I have a CTS V Wagon. How di I get my hands on the module you just installed?
The frame rail on the first side you looked at seemed like it’s been fixed kinda looked like little indents
Excellent choice for a car channel!
Even though I’m not a caddy fan this one is a beast! It’s growing on me. Love the color and sound! She’s in great hands with you and Peter!
Those new (well) seats are really nice.. what a find!! Really nice of the seller to put in the bonus stuff! Packed very well too!!
My wife daily’s a 14 CTS-V wagon. Such a fun car. She drove Merc’s for many many years, which are massaged and so redefined. This V wagon is a WAR HAMMER.😂 compared to the previous Merc’s.
Good choice dropping the Tesla and sticking with the Cadillac. Wasn’t a fan of wagons till now. Pretty sweet ride & dig the color. Great video
I would've went with the massive tesla screen radio. Those look and run great
I actually went the opposite route that you did.
OEM Silver for the calipers honestly. The silver used on the og calipers is beautiful with its hints of flake in the sunlight
"We have magnets in the tool box, but its too far away". CLASSIC!
Instead of soldering and then using heat shrink tubing, give solder tubes a try. They're super easy, and give a great connection too!
Love your show. Look forward to it every week. When it comes to your brake calipers. Black if you go chrome on Rims or Red if you go with black Rims.
I love how your GM products and even the Beemers come in, get upgraded and run while the F150 is always on the lift in the background.
Nice upgraded on the seats and info center. I learned something new regarding how to replace the headlight lens!
i miss the seats that were in my 89 thunderbird supercoupe. it all the lumbar and side bolster adjustments in the back and bottom. so comfortable. and mine had the option for both front seats, they usually only had the adjustments for the driver seat.
Samsung forever, just my preference, I've never gotten used to IPhone either and I think you should keep Android😎
Alex paint the calipers jet stream blue!
IDK why I love station wagons so much, but I would love one of these, or a Dodge Magnum SRT8. Great video as usual...love you guys!
HYPER ADVANCED Legit Street Team all the way. Love the work so far!!!
Fantastic video. Looks like I need to upgrade my 2014 CTS CUE system with additional capabilities. Thanks for the info.
Gold brake calipers would look awesome
Peter has been such a great addition to this channel!
