  • The North End is a large area located to the north and northwest of Downtown Winnipeg. It is bordered by the Red River on the east, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) mainline on the south, the City of Winnipeg boundary (Brookside Boulevard) on the west and Jefferson Avenue, Keewatin Street, Carruthers Avenue.

    i'm not sure this guy knows where the north end is. he was in it for about 4 of 14 minutes, but he also explored downtown, the west end and st. james. if the film had been two minutes longer, he would have been in tuxedo.
    i saw very little poverty. maybe one block. -15 is very warm for january. bit windy that day though. maybe this guy needs a life, somewhere else.

    Winnipeg is an odd city . I left in 88 due to really shitty jobs and notoriously bad business owners .. went to alberta for 20 yrs . Winnipeg has a feel that other citys dont have . The old buildings , the mom and pop diners , the talented artists and musicians . Its finally a stable work environment , but full of tons of shady employers . Its a love hate thing .. under funded mental health care makes u feel like your in an open air asylum downtown in the summer , lots of aboriginal social problems ( shaddap its true and everyone knows it) . Can be randomly dangerous , . But its a really unique place and ill always have a special place in my heart for this weird , quirky city

      Same with me, and I moved to US almost 39 years ago
      Why did they have to tear down Eaton's, old airport, and close the Bay
      Why did they build that abomination Canadian museum of (God-given, not mankind given) human rights?

    • @cinzabeary5226
      @cinzabeary5226 2 года назад

      @@gedjad It's slowly become dystopian. C. Kelekis closed down. The Extra Foods on Main closed. Lots of community centres closed. The transit system has gotten more dangerous and violent, despite extra security measures. While the Convention Centre got an expansion, the Manitoba Museum got major upgrades, and Polo Park has become an exclusive mall for the rich because there is nary an affordable store there.

      Nah bro, its 2022 and there is still nothing to amaze in the streets of wpg, the downtown looks like a ghost town. When you see a few, are drug junkies with poorest lifestyles nobody wanna approach to.
      In the summer its vibrant but dangerous especially north end and downtown. Wpg is one of the most depressing cities in the north America. Heard it used to be better 30-40 years ago.

      What you see in this video is only about one-quarter of the city. This is where nearly all of the murders in the city are committed.
      You have affluent areas like Whyte Ridge, Island Lakes, Eaglemere, and Algonquin Estates which the Toronto-based media never tell anyone about.

      Try living there and being afraid to go outside of your house when it’s dark or not being able to walk to school on the morning after child tax and welfare day because everyone’s still out drunk and high on the streets until their money runs out. Worst time of my life there, I’m just glad I didn’t get sucked into the lifestyle like lots of my friends did and got the hell out of there.

    so little commentary throughout the video. This man only knows what he sees in front of his nose. He knows nothing of the early beginnings and the peoples that made it thrive. Doesn't know of the famous people that were born and went on to become successful in they're lives. He doesn't know about the history of the bridges. The North End is a beautiful area because of all the trees. He drove past or close to land marks that are of interest, perhaps he isnt aware of them. There is poverty across the world and many cold winter cities. This long drawn out video really doesn't show Winnipeg to a tourist

      I've lived in this city my whole life. I grew up in Elmwood and N.K. I've worked all over the city and in these areas for the last 15 years. I agree, it is the poor part of the city with the majority of poverty concentrated in the north end. But... You could be mugged or stabbed anywhere. The likely hood of you randomly walking down a street in the north end and winding up dead is very unlikely... Worst case somebody might ask you for a smoke or some money. I'm speaking from experience and not the stereotype!

    Winnipeg is just the Tip of the Iceberg. Take Number 10 Highway North and after you pass Mafeking, you get into the Snow Zone. After The Pas the Weather gets cold and when you get to the Thompson area you can get -60 plus 30 MPH winds. If you’re not prepared,it can be a dangerous areas to travel. Once you leave Number 10 Highway after Midnight you might be lucky to meet a half dozen vehicles before you get to Thompson.

He went downtown whevere all the businesses are (ppl in suits walk around there safe) and on portage where its safe unless you mean mugging trying to look for trouble. This guy doesnt know any hoods in wpg. Or even film main street around the pawn shops during the afternoon where everyone is posted selling dope. Hey Pepper where did you escape from ?? Like other cities do not have problems ...I travel for my work I have seen real Poverty ......if your so concerned about the area take some money out of your wallet and start a revitalization project in the NORTH END otherwise your really not helping but causing rifts in people ....but I am not surprised ....man has always attacked what he has no knowledge of ......

    • @RusBerry
      @RusBerry 5 лет назад

      RaisedxFist it’s not an amazing city, no. But remember, he drove mostly through the slums. I’ve lived here for 20 years. Never seen a gang. Never been robbed or beat up or anything. Never been without a job for more than 2 months. And Manitoba actually has 10 cities. But I’m sure you meant major cities.
