I retired from Truck Driving 3 years ago after 25 years OTR. I made a bunch of Trips in and out of Denver. The most memorable was a hail storm. Golf ball size hail was several inches deep on the roads. All the cars pulled over and several were hiding under overpasses. I drove into town and delivered to a Sams Club. My Truck cab survived fine but the noise was very loud when hail was hammering it.
Ah, yes, know this section of I-70 very well. (Used to live in Evergreen, about 10 miles south of there as the crow flies) At the bottom of the slope at the hogback is Dead Man's Curve, seen a lot of trucks wiped out there. Good to see you have this! Be safe!
U always give me motivation when I watch your videos I’m a truck driver almost 4 years and u are one off the best truckers I sow in my life keep it up legend we need more videos or daily updates
The snow is a nightmare, and not because it's scary or anything like that it's because of all the idiots that shouldn't even be on the road, just like that white s.u.v he passed, people like that should NEVER drive when it snows. Be safe out there down under.
Dear Lord, please, please watch over this trucker and his fellow truckers. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen. And thank you, sir, for doing this very difficult but very important job.
Hi Mike just wanted to thank you for your videos, especially hwy 550 video. me and my husband(rookie at that time) saw our GPS malfunctioned and our dispatcher sent us thru million dollar hwy 🤦, I showed my husband your video on moving the tandems up or we could slip off one of those winding turns...we moved tandems and it saved our life!. We went thru when it was snowing but once we got down we literally had to stop and shake off all the nerves! 😅 What a drive! Thank you for your videos, it helps alot of rookies out there (like us) Thank you!🎉
Nice of the drivers on the left to move over left a little more when they see that big blue semi behind them Mike! We all appreciate you on the snowy, icy roads! Be safe please!
I find it interesting that I can get so anxious over here while we travel through the snow over there. Seems we are right there with you MMM. Stay safe. GOD BLESS YOU
That was fun riding shotgun with you heading to Denver. I grew up in snow country In Western Montana so it was fun to see the snow again. I'm a Californian now. Peace.
I was just browsing to see what I can watch and just happened to come across your video. I'm riding with you. I also want to say I am so grateful to ALL of you truckers because, without all of you our stores would be empty and so, THANK YOU!! This is NOT an easy job.
I get severe anxiety about driving trucks in winter weather after getting stuck in a daycab during an ice storm my first winter driving. I appreciate your winter videos immensely, they really help. Safe travels
I have been watching your videos for some time now, you truly have some awesome driving skills. No way I could do what you do, thanks for what you do. Much Respect.
I like your style of driving there Mike. I drove artics (18 wheelers) in the UK & France for 20 years and hardly ever faced conditions like that!! Hats off to you 😉
I live in Denver, and have driven on those roads, and even on light snow/cold conditions, I get shit-scared driving through i-70....you have my respect!!
Years back, used to run dedicated. Ran beer from Winchester, Va to Golden, Co. Then backhauled bulk potatoes from Monte' Vista, Co to Warsaw, Nc. Going back East, ftom Monte Vista, on US160 could get quite interesting around Lavita Pass, when it got slick.Had to check my drawers a few times!! Lol!
I lived in Colorado my whole life I-70 is a 3 Lane Highway you did a wonderful job in that snow storm that other vehicle didn't have the right to honk at you but that's Colorado Drivers today new out of staters that come here act like they know these highways here and drive to fast in the snow. Good Job!!!
We see this all the time back east here where I am now, heavy snow covered free ways, truck rolling right along and the traffic slows down and the trucks can't stop on the slippery road and plows right into the cars, 50 or 60 vehicle pileup, dozens hurt or killed . Up here on I-90 now when the weather gets like that, the freeway is closed to trucks.
Hello Mike! You are a very good driver! And you seem to be cool like a cat, and nothing bothers you..that is excelent! Thank you for sharing your cool videos !🙂👍
I dont know what you haul.. all I can say you are a rock star, I would be parked on the side of the road.... thanks for sharing... and thanks for being out there for all of us.
Love the ride along it just seems so odd you're in crappy weather and I'm in good weather in Indiana. Ya got to admit this country of ours is marvelous cross a few states and you're in a different world. Love ya stay safe out there.👍
My dad told me a story about driving in snow like this. Back in 1984 he went to Lake Tahoe and it was snowing so heavily that his windshield was full of ice and snow so he couldn’t see anything at all while he was still driving on the freeway. Luckily a cop saw him and decided to guide him to the nearest exit off the freeway. Must be scary driving in these conditions especially when you can’t see in front of you.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people lose what little common sense they do have when the weather turns crappy and the roads get slick. I did my time driving over the road logging 4 million miles so I know firsthand what you are going through. Always enjoy your videos, Stay Safe !!!
I know this is an old one but I’m always fascinated seeing you guys drive in shit like this. In a 4 wheeler I’m creeping and you guys all handle it like you’re hauling the mail. Amazing.
Mike drives like I drive….safely aggressive. Been watching these videos for years as good entertainment, sometimes with the sound off to nix the politics but the driving dynamic is great.
If you drive a truck for a living, this is a common occurrence. Snow is part of the job. Reno is even worse. Donner pass is always a joy, hahaha I'm 63 now, if I have to chain I pull over and call it a day. I could care less what broker thinks. After chaining for 21 years I've had enough.
I have driven that road in a blizzard before, not fun. I am 75 years old now and had the opportunity to drive up through the mountains before I-70 was built, all the way up over the top, before the tunnel was there.
Mike, Have you ever done a video of you chaining up? If you have not it would be cool to see that....us east coast drivers could all benefit from seeing someone that does it all the time show us how it's done. by the way I have not drove a truck in over 20 years but it is cool watching your videos. I don't have to leave the house to get a tour of the country...LOL and some of your comments about learning driving skills by doing it [not exactly the way the book or school teaches you] are exactly the way I learned. Thank you ~ keep posting.
I live in NJ. I just had to put chains on i70 for the first time yesterday. I didn't realize my chains were 2 chains welded together so they go over both drive tires. What a pain in the ass to do while it's snowing and freezing.
Thanks for posting! I'm extremely familiar with this exact road and I can't believe how everyone is following so closely! That is crazy! There is no way anyone of them would be able to stop. No thanks.
Americans in warmer states are funny when it snows. This would be a regular winter day in Latvia. People tend to drive slower, choose longer breaking distances, but still drive decent, not blocking lanes and not using emergancy lights without any reason.
I live just outside of Denver, this video was shot just west of where I live, I have been down that stretch numerous times, that stretch of highway on I-70 is no fun in the winter. Thanks for the upload.
Not only do you drive like me but I feel the same way love driving in the snow but with no people around. I used to pull doubles from New Jersey to Albany five nights a week in the snow and I loved it 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm a truck driver from europe. I was in the US. I have to say you truckers are mostly true professionals compared to europe where we have a lot of drivers that never should sit behind a steering wheel and it's all becouse of the lack of drivers. But the rest of the people driving on your roads are just a joke. They drive like they do it for the first time taking all the lanes, cutting off others..
I love watching your series I was a truck driver for 17 years hauled for western dist. out of Denver till I injured my back don't know if we crossed paths or not but I went by dream chaser
And then there are the "old timers" who plow thru anything the hell with the conditions and both about the newbies. And do NOT tell me those guys don't exist.
Wow, the first time I’ve had sm panic attacks watching your videos. Lol, heart was actually pounding! When we had our diesel motor home, I would freak out during rides like this that I would end up on the floor. Lol finally started taking one of husbands Atavan so I would sleep thru the storm.

It is often much warmer over here and that makes it much more slick. There have been many times I made it up a hill in snow just fine without chains, but going down was like riding a sled and wish i had put chains on. Even starting out going down at 10 or 15mph is too much to hold back all that weight. And with the curves a lot of the roads have you do not want to pick up much speed going down or you will be sliding off into the ditch or off the cliff.
Great driving job. I run the Northwest and drive Volvo’s with I-Shift transmissions, Volvo vectro motor and add in traction control that combination is unstoppable. The only time we need chains going downhill is if chains are required. I’ve had to chain up when the sign is on but I know the Volvo didn’t need them , but that’s the law. Plus now thanks to California we have to put single rail chains on all 4 drivers, that sucks. The Volvo with the I-Shift is the best machine I’ve ever driven in the snow and ice.

From desert Australia, of blistering sun and the scorched earth of an arid land,
this looks like a nice and inviting cool change of scenery.
Yeah, but it sucks to drive in.😢

Thank's for the ride. You 're one hell of a good driver and great in the snow. Take care & drive safe.

I’ve driven that road many times !! It’s amazing how most people from Colorado drive do well in the snow !! 👍😊
I really enjoy watching you driving in snow ❄️ you drive through out the snow as if the ground was dry! Hell of a driver ❄️🛻👍
That traffic is a little crazy! People making their own lane. You do a amazing job!
Have you driven in these conditions?
I find it interesting that I can get so anxious over here while we travel through the snow over there. Seems we are right there with you MMM. Stay safe. GOD BLESS YOU
This will be my first year as a winter pulling doubles to Denver every night and I’m terrified!
How are you doing with the weather?
How are you?
You'll be just fine.... just focus on the road and mind nothing else and you will be just fine......

I’ve driven this harrowing interstate a few times.
It’s scary even in the summer during the day.
Very impressive driving mister.
Never been to Denver. What’s so bad about this road? It looks so beautiful
My nerves are shot just watching you drive! I hate snow covered roads, that's why I stay home. Great video!

Your quick lane changes and speed entering almost stopped traffic is scary to watch. Stay safe driver.
When it snows like that, there are no lanes, that does not mean you get to use the entire road.... That suv should have pulled over and called it quits if they were that scared.
Chains are reqiured and not a bad idea for going down hill in the northwest and California, because you need to resist gravity and bare tires often do not have the traction to hold back the rig for very long. It is often much warmer over here and that makes it much more slick. There have been many times I made it up a hill in snow just fine without chains, but going down was like riding a sled and wish i had put chains on.
