I was a mate of Lemmy's in the 1980s through working with roadcrew for Girlschool, he was a genuinely lovely bloke and always had time for people unless they acted like idiots. A very nice tribute to one of the best people the music business produced.

I saw Hawkwind back in 1974. Even back then, Lemmy played bass guitar with a way no other bassist could play at that time.... A wonderful guy who is still sadly missed....
It's because he had to teach himself, at very short notice, so he largely played bass in the way you'd play rhythm guitar - which he'd also taught himself to play... Space Ritual is probably the height of his presence in Hawkwind (and one of the tightest live albums you will ever find) - tracks like Space Is Deep and Time We Left are absolutely driven by his thundering, unique approach to bass guitar. And the solo in Orgone Accumulator was what inspired me to pick up a bass myself for the first time, 40 years ago.
Thank you so much for this video, you did an amazing job. I was literally in tears at the end, I miss him every day. I drank with him once, I remember most of it. Don't keep up with Lemmy.

What i loved about Lemmy was he had the most authentic legit no bullshit attitude, his song writing abilities were nowhere near as recognised as they shoulda been.
I lost track of how many times I saw Motorhead and not being much of a metal fan I had to endure some awful support groups and other bands at festivals. Motorhead like Sabbath were a rare band as they had a very wide fan base. I would be there in my Ramones shirt rocking out next to someone in a Meshuggah shirt. I even got asked at one gig who were Stiff Little Fingers. I despair sometimes.
He played with The Damned often enough to cross-pollinate plenty of people from the punk scene into the metal scene. And, according to somebody from New Order - I forget who - "Punk happened because in every small town across Britain, there was somebody who was into Hawkwind".
