Im that opportunity for the experience to enhance my video/editing skills. Now for the past year, ive been trying to venture out in the youtube world... Thanks for sharing your story dude.

I bought my first camera last year June, 2018. I was 22. I did random freelance work for a few months and then I got hired somewhere as a Video Editor. I’ve been doing freelance for the past year now and have been a full-time editor for 7 months. Everyday I’m literally learning how to do things in Pr and Ae on a daily basis. I dropped out of college 5 classes in and have never had any video experience prior.
I’m pursuing RUclips next!!

Can so relate .. studied a Bsc Biochemistry and Zoology, have 2 years in Theology (for real) and have been in the marketing/advertising/entertainment model industry since 1997. I have been deliberating to start a you tube channel for over a year LOL .... have to learn from scratch ... something burning inside to do this to appeal to folk in age 45+ .... enjoy your channel. It's funny how life plays out! It take's a few uncertain decisions to get to the right ones. Making a living in video isn't all that hard, it's more about can it be something you enjoy long term and are you willing to put in the work. Great video Matti!
Wow, quiet of the same story in my life. I graduated from a bible school in Germany in 2017 and I just made my first wedding a couple weeks ago. The difference is that I was not good at school 😄😅
Makes perfect sense. I'm close to getting my degree in Theology & Cultural Engagement. I'm also a former Youth Pastor and software engineer, who became a lead pastor and church planter, and now I'm focusing on my 3rd RUclips Channel, and taking on Filmmaking as a hobby. So it feels like I'm on the Matti track to becoming a filmmaker. :) --> Perhaps when I grow up; I'll be able to shoot a similar video.
Now Finland will see a sudden rise in aspiring filmmakers from all over the world wanting to study theology there! 😄

Very encouraging video! Thank you! I actually see som similarities in my own experience for sure. I currently spend all day watching you, Peter, your brother, and some other filmmakers while I sit at a laptop designing electrical systems for a union contractor. I love my regular job, but being able to learn more about my newfound passion (film) while I make money here is the best benefit I could ask for! Keep up the awesome content!

Awesome on your theology degree. I spent 5 years at a local non accredited church run bible college myself. And spent 10 years in children's ministry. I also did some fill in preaching as well.

I've been watching your channel for some time and it's time for a few words of appreciation :) I'm from Poland and although there are filmmakers here too, I prefer to watch you (although I do not always understand everything). In my opinion, Polish filmmakers do not want to pass on their knowledge (for fear of competition?) And watching you I get the impression that you are willing to help all of you to enter this world. My very first video was 42... but that's because there wasn't much of a camera selection back then - I find that making videos for kids birthday parties is also a way to get in there. I've made a few and it's fun.

Matti I absolutely love watching your videos, I got my video carrier doing some of the things you mentioned in this video. My start came from creating training videos for the company I'm currently working for. I got my start with the company actually working on the production floor. Management heard about my graphic art and marketing ability, and had asked me if I could edit video. I was like sure I had limited video experience but had played with Premier Pro, After Effects a bit. They had me film a sample video (on the clock) They handed me a gopro. I was like let me use my Canon 5DM2 And they were astounded by the final video. The CEO said that it was way better then they were expecting. A Month later I was offered the job full time. While This is fun and I get to be creative I am always trying to find new ways to improve and hone my skills. Your Videos Have more than helped me. Thank you for all you do. BTW I now own a Canon C200 You have given me the insite to get the most out of all my gear, So again Thank you.

Im in a similar situation, I am currently studying Marketing, I had so much spare time living away so I go into filmmaking, at home I made a few videos for my friends outdoor company, now I get occasional clients for both video and photo and am not sure about sticking with uni, thank you for sharing btw !

Kinda wish I had the option for the School of Internet .... borrowed $100k to go to film school and although I don't regret it, it's brutal knowing how long it'll take to pay off and how much interest will be paid during that time. :( And we have one Freshii in Omaha, and it's great! Definitely wish there were more healthy fast food options. Terrific episode and a LOT of great advice. 🤘🏻
Look, man, while I did later get my Masters in Screenwriting, I didn't really produce anything until I was 22 either besides some home movies on a JVC camcorder and guess what my Bachelor's degree is in... ANCIENT HISTORY. Now I make my own Short Films, made an action-adventure series Series and I've worked on a number of Features too. So it's weird how life can take you from "Ancient History Degree" or in your case "Theology Degree" to being a filmmaker and actually getting creative and yet I often find myself using that Ancient History degree to write and tell interesting stories because that's kinda all history and without trying to blaspheme here, Theology, as well, is.
