Banning call recording apps to avoid responsibility for their usage in two-party consent states (or otherwise restricted areas) makes 0 sense. Walmart doesn’t get sued when someone uses a hammer that was purchased from them to assault someone. It’s a tool.

Not just USB C, EU should standardize Fast charging standard as well. Make sure OEMs support PD fast charging. Otherwise, Apple and others will make their proprietary charging standards so users would still be required to buy chargers from same brand or get stuck at 5-10w charging.
Apple, Google, Xiaomi, OnePlus and others already have made Wireless Fast charging proprietary.

Or if I use it to stalk and harass someone. I'm sure it'd be a good thing for victims to be able to record that kind of phone calls...
I mean, if it's a feature already built in to Android then it's whatever if they ban third party recording apps - I could understand a safety argument there, maybe - but call recording _isn't_ universally available on Android phones. I assumed it was until my dad asked me to show him how to do it, and his phone just didn't have it.

Ads in racing games or anything set in the present or future are fine to me as long as they take the form of something like sponsor banners or billboards and are overall fitting well into the immersion. How ads would be immersively implemented in a game like the elder scrolls I can’t imagine though

  • @jasonjenkinson2049

I kinda dont mind if there are ads in the game world in free to play games, if its fitting. If you in a city and theres some billboard ads for a new game or Coke or something, thats kinda neat

I remember reading a great article about the phoenix Apu's. The title of the article was that the phoenix apus were stronger than a PS5. When you actually enter the article they say how it's comparable to a PS5 and stronger than a series S.
For reference The Series S 4 teraflops, the ps5 is about 10.3 and the Series X is 12. Now this gpu was rumoured to be 6 TFLOPs which yes is bigger than 4. What about that gpu being comparable to a PS5 well 6 is basically 7, 7 ate 9 and we all know all the tech companies skipped 9 and went straight to 10 so you see how this logic makes sense.

Honestly when ads are well integrated like in Trackmania (where you can disable them with the paid version too), it's fine. But I doubt EA would make ads that don't disrupt the playing experience. It definitely will.

Lightning is a more durable design indeed, but it's painfully slow. And I hate the fact that I can't connet OTG connectors and thumb drives.

They should have chosen a format that isn't fragmented to the moon and back when it comes to power handling and only a 10,000 insertion lifetime rating.

@@redfish3858 USB-C standards cover everything from USB 2.0 to thunderbolt 4.
Not to mention all the untested unregulated cables out there that will cause damage to devices.
Also the form factor it self is less reliable and easier to break than lightening.

The 10,000 insertions is a minimum, and is exactly the same as the Lightning plug's rating. Do you know of any similar-sized plugs with a higher insertion rating? And USB-C *does* have a standard for power handling. This isn't 10 years ago when USB-C just came out, you aren't gonna have devices catching fire on being plugged in. And if you did go the route of creating a new format, wouldn't that just cause further fragmentation right now rather than fix the issue?
