Thank you so much for making these videos! I am a just a kid, and your videos really inspired me to start leatherworking. What leather would you recommend buying for starters? And what needle should I use for .4 ritza?

I use pipettes I ordered on Amazon to fill the Montana markers. Pipettes are a helpful supply in my studio - in this case it eliminates the dye mess. I just sit the marker I am filling in an old salsa jar to hold it upright. Hope this little tip helps someone. 😊

super, super nice - and honestly I wouldn't even buy much of it until BG started selling panels because it only came in heavier weights. It's wonderful for carry goods in lighter weights, always been my fav strap leather :)

As you use the marker, the wide leading edge gets a bit frayed. At that point, you get dye or edge paint on the good surfaces. That is when I go to the sides of the nib and they work perfectly for keeping them at right angles to the leather edge. The edges don't seem to fray much at all. Keeping the liquid where you want it.

First I have to say I love your videos, they are really informative and you cinematography and editing is top notch.
Any chance you can do a video at some point in the future, about lining? I'm just getting into leather work, but a lot of what I'm interested in seems to be considered higher end or advanced techniques, and thus isn't discussed much. In general it seem like lining isn't a common topic of discussion.
For example I know you can glue two pieces of leather flesh side to flesh side and stitch all the way around it. How do you make a fully leather lined card slot on a wallet or folio without stitching across the top (something I've never seen)? All the wallets I've ever seen or owned had rolled edges that got glued to some kind of liner fabric. Do you just take really think leather and fold it in half and use the folded edge as the top of the card slot?
I'm sure i can't be the only one person with a lot of questions about this topic. 🙂

Do you all plan to do any videos on the Buckleguy acrylic templates? I got the both tote templates and have no clue how to make sure my stitching holes will line up. They aren’t marked on the templates.

Great wallet...and a very good cause, too! One question, before I buy the pattern; would this work with a 6mm spaced chisel? I think you're using a 5mm one there, so I'm not sure how a 6mm one would look. Thanks in advance! 👍

Are the edge beveler from Buckleguy any good? It seems to be a japanese one from Oka Factory. I see you used the Weaver beveler for the second shot. It seems to be working smoother and easier...

    • @Corter
      @Corter  2 года назад

i like them! I'm just used to the weaver ones which have a very, very different approach angle, but take off a lot more leather at the smallest size - so I have to get used to the buckleguy ones is all. They're super sharp out of the box though, it's more me needing to learn how to use them. The Weaver ones are basically like safety scissors - there's no possible way to take a chunk out of the edge like there is with any other beveler. but the flip side is that they're not as fine as the buckleguy bevelers, so you can't really easily bevel lighter leathers without hanging the piece over the edge of the cutting board or something like that

I have the OKA edge Bevelers punches and punch mats. All of their stuff is TOP notch. Looks like Buckle guy is reselling the OKA stuff. Can’t have everyone finding out they can order direct from Japan for half the price minus shipping. Respect the hustle. Love these videos

I am wanting to try the tape you used last week. I always make a mess with glue and thought that might be a good alternative. Is there a reason to use glue over the tape? Also, I knew you'd live the marker!

I have a request, I am a dabbler in leather, interesting, but I would like to make, what some call a belly pouch, or pouches, and be slim, with a wide elastic to hold secure, one to hold a CCW, compact, (and idea could expand) and the second would be a wallet and phone carrier. Most likely this would be worn under a shirt but over the pants.

I have two questions, how often do you change out your X-Acto blades? And also, how do you sharpen an edge beveler? (question three, how to spell "beveler"...)

I use 5mm myself, but I don't like small stitching as I think it looks unbalanced with pieces much larger than a watch strap - that's all personal preference!

I have not heard that before, I can’t concentrate on the project, because I’m waiting for the next super.
It’s super, distracting, but you are a great leather worker, thank you.
