Your vivarium is beautiful. The narration of its progressive ecosystem is the cherry on top. I appreciate your keen eye for the smallest happenings, and thank you for sharing it with us!
I used to be an avid viewer 9 or so years ago when I was six until the age of ten, and watching this series has been giving that same childlike curiosity and interest I had when I was younger: mesmerizingly watching your Asian weaver ant colonies, the fire ant empire, golden sugar ants, titan ants, and even celebrating your play button successes with you. This series is bringing back those memories I had, as I’ve been loving seeing how this ecosystem develops. Thank you for both bringing back this feeling, and the moments I spent watching your videos as a kid.
My 4 year old son and I have been watching every episode together. He flinches at some of the predatory scenes, but it's been helping my wife and I teach him about the circle of life. Thanks for the bonding opportunity, Mr. AC!
So glad to see the marauder ants back! The acrobats crack me up every time. They don't care how big you are, they're coming for you! Amazing as always...
I have always adored your channel but this series has me absolutely hooked! The quality of your videos is astounding - from the camera work, the effort to create Pantdora and your commentary, which is educational, engaging and at times hilarious - the crickets singing! You really make me love these little creatures and convey their personalities so well. I feel so much joy for their accomplishments and sadness when trouble falls on them. This is Netflix quality documentary making. You deserve all your success!
I have only recently come across your channel and I am 100% addicted! I have watched hour after hour of your videos dating back 6-7 years and every single vid is more entertaining and educational than anything on TV. You really have a gift for storytelling and narration and your love and respect for all your creatures is absolutely amazing and I couldn’t have any more respect for what you do! You have a new life long fan from the UK AC! Thanks 🙏
I’m 23 now, but I was a fan back when I was a sophomore in highschool! He truly never misses with his videos, his commentary, filming, and everything in between is just top notch for a RUclipsr!
Ants Canada, I am a 14 year old fan of yours and have always been interested in the life of ants, plants, and other animals in this vast world we live in! I've always wanted to work in the science of plant and animals, and how we can save their biodiversity for years to come. Your channel has made me even more inspired to continue this dream of mine, and has even inspired me to create a mini isopod terrarium! Thank you for all that you do!
I am not an insect guy but I do love animals. I am very glad that I somehow stumbled into this realm and I must say the content quality is as high as it gets in my mind! Great camera work and quality... It makes me think allot more about how this globe we live on keeps itself alive but then it also reminds me of how careless and self serving man has become. This is very refreshing!
Im innthe same boat. Im more of a freshwater and marine biology guy. Though Insects are easy to keep and easy to study in captivity. Lots of more "complex" animals like mammals behaviour changes when you cage them. For a variety of reasons.
I'm so invested in this series, and pantdora as a whole. Despite being pretty averse to all insects, they are fascinating and this vivarium is an amazing way to study their behaviour.
14:50 The setup and payoff of this cricket getting mauled played like something out of an 80's slasher, graphic scenes and all. I was sure the couple near the ants were gonna get the Friday 13 treatment too! The setup was perfect!
Hey AC! Regarding the small insect you found underwater at around the 22 minute mark, my best guess judging from some of my work with other insect larvae is that that is a mayfly larvae still rather early on in development, and probably did come in accidentally with the plants you purchased. Lucky find!
22:15 To me it looks exactly like a damselfly larva. There might be a mayfly species that looks very similar, but I’m pretty sure it’s a damselfly. I accidentally had one in my aquarium too once, but since the room temperature was warmer than outside it emerged during winter instead of summer, and died shortly after, because my living room hadn’t the correct conditions (no prey and probably to dry) and it was way to cold to put it outside. But it was fascinating to see a damselfly fly in winter (probably not as weird in a tropical country). It will probably not grow big enough to eat your fish or shrimps like some dragonfly larva can (maybe their babies) but mine survived somehow with guppies and neocaridina davidi in the tank (just like in this case), idk never saw it eat. So maybe we’ll see a damselfly in one of the next videos.
I think it looks way more like a damselfly instead. The 3 appendages at the end of the abdomen, whatever they are called, look more like of a damselfly larvae too
Pandora is by far you best work. I would watch 100+ eps on this alone, plus any future vivarium content. I have adored your ant content for ages, but this ecosystem study is far and above the most interesting yet.
My friend there are a lot of YT creators that could take a master class in video production from you! What you put out is by far the best I see on YT. This is the ONLY channel I turn notifications on for. Your story telling and editing are hands down better than anyone else on this platform. Why you dont have something like 30 million subs is beyond me. I tell everyone I know about your videos and they often watch them with me if they are here when I am watching. This series in particular has generated so much conversation and planning that it influences me far more than anything I watch on TV or stream. So much so that myself and several others are planning on doing something like this, but encompassing my entire back yard which is roughly 1/2 acre. We have already started digging treches along the perimeter to make the base for the barriers that will completly enclose my backyard.
As an entomology aficionado my whole life (I'm 46 now) I can't begin to tell you how excited I was when I saw my favorite animal in the whole animal kingdom, the Praying Mantis, been introduced into Pantdora. By the way, I believe that was a female since I spotted 5 segments on her abdomen instead of the 6 you usually see in most male species. Hope to see more of the tigers of the insect kingdom in future episodes of Pantdora. Keep it up.
This series really is the most remarkable, truly educational, unique and exciting thing I've seen on YT, and I've been here since the beginning. I've gotten to witness both huntsman spiders, and now crickets, succesfully mate, which may seem strange but which is truly fascinating and not something a person normally would ever see. The building, planting/scaping and populating of this epic vivarium is the coolest thing! I adore this channel, and this series, soooo much! Thank you for all your hard work making these videos about it. ❤❤❤
I’ve never been a fan of insects or reptiles and never had any terrarium of any sort, but wow AntsCanada knows how to suck you in with these elaborate videos. I am now an avid fan waiting for that upload every sunday morning in my sub box. Cheers from Chicago AntsCanada!
I've loved this series soooo much. This is the first yt series I've actually waited in anticipation for. What an amazing project. TY AC for sharing it with us in such an entertaining manner to boot!
this is so well done on all fronts, amazing camera work, amazing writing, amazing voice over, amazing tank, amazing work with the insects/animals, just amazing. this is spectacular.
Holy moly. I think I have a new favourite insect. Preying mantis are actually terrifying, yet also perfectly balanced by the elegance and modesty. I think the best moment, was when we saw the marauder ants which actually brought me to tears.
Honestly, every episode is pure genius. You were able to create a real eco system inside for all of us to watch, and your camera work and editing are so incredible! Keep up the amazing work ❤
In the 80's as a kid I had an 16" Color TV in my bedroom but the only channel I could get was the Discovery Nature channel. As a result I grew to love nature over the years watching shows like this. I can't believe I forgot about that until I found this channel. Thank you for revitalizing my enthusiasm for nature and reminding me how entertaining it is, this is hands down one of my favorite channels.
This has got to be the best and most natural, while also most primal version of reality TV I have ever witnessed. And oh boy, is it breathtaking. I think the format is also pretty unique, a livestream wouldnt do the narrative justive.
I've seen some of the more recent episodes but I came back to watch from the beginning. I have always been one to 'let them outside instead of kill them' and I just wanted to say I appreciate you calling them 'animals' instead of 'insects.' I hope you're doing well, and I absolutely love this series. Great work.
This series is probably my favorite of yours. It's definitely proven a theory the great Michael Critaton discussed in his book, The Lost World. If you enter an environment even with no intention of changing it, it will be changed. You originally had a plan for what will live in Pantora, however immediately you encountered several critters not intended. It's amazing that such a theory can even occur in a man-made ecosystem. I look forward to the next installment of this bio-saga!
The endoscope camera is actually a massive W, not just for the purposes of looking into the stump but also just seeing the activity in other ant nests in the ant room (with safety of course, don't wanna break any of their hard work or potentially hurt them).
I've always loved nature documentaries. Your narration and storytelling are a perfect example of why. I hope you always have the freedom and drive to keep creating cause I have a hunger to keep watching. Thank you.
22:22 That damselfy larvae will eat your shrimp and potentially guppies too once it gets bigger. It's best you remove it now, unless you don't mind restocking the water area once the larva grows up.
This is the best series over all on the whole youtube platform, truly amazing and easy as good or even better then many discovery or other made for tv productions. We owe you such gratitude for giving us the opportunity to watch and learn about insects and such. Thank you very much greeting from Sweden
Glad to hear the Mauraders are doing well. Hearing what you found, I wonder if they started moving into the dirt by clearing the top the Halleluia stump first, leaving space for the Black Crazies to move in. That said, I'm curious about what is happening with the Termites, whether they will suvive or not. And since we haven't heard anything about the Fire Ants, hopefully that means there was no queen brought in.
I think it would be a bad thing if the fire ants have died out them and the crazy ants would keep each others populations in check. If not then the crazy ants will wipe out the others. Also I wouldn't be surprised if the mantis gets eaten by the ants I think the crazys will do it. Eventually I think you'll find if the crazy ants populations aren't kept in check they pretty much take out all the insects in there. Crabs, fish, frogs and reptiles will be the only ones capable of co existing with them but they will die off as the pray does. Also it quite easily to over populate it with pray m, how many eggs will one roach lay. Now imagine you have say 5 roaches lay 30 eggs ? That's like a possible 150 roaches running around and then they breed ? Then you have the crickets to do you need small predators that will eat some of the eggs. Also I think it would wise to add a larger variety of prey insects rather the a lot of a few species. So you could 6 roaches, 6 caterpillars, 12 crickets of two different species, 6 flies, 6 wood lice, termites, snails, slugs, larva, moths, lady bugs, e.c.t and so they will reproduce but the total possible eggs layed of each species is lower meaning it will be harder fir population levels to get out of control. I think he's put to many crickets in there of the same kind and I think that they will all of a sudden over populate the viv because there isn't enough soil insects to eat the eggs that are buried. And so all of a sudden you get them all hatch at the same time. Say those crickets can lay 30 eggs each even if half the eggs die and only 2 crickets successfully mate thats 30 potential baby crickets. That's a lot. Then you have the roach's he put maybe 20 or 30 of them in there, so he's probably going to need to put a extra predator in there once they all start hatching.
I haven't been watching for about 2 months now, and now when i come back, i see so many videos of ants! Even this vivarium you've set up! Looks like i'll have lots more videos to watch and catch up on! Really love how you're exploring the idea of a Vivarium and growing it even further! sounds like you went through some stuff in childhood. and like you just need to sit, breathe and desensitize. like you could sit in a park and watch a bird sing, or a chipmunk. it carries a lot of stress to hold onto something like that and usually with a little (even indirect) contact you can start to unmake that tension. wild example but when i was very young my best friend's little sister (kind of a butthead) but she was afraid of snakes. another friend of mine's cousin found a preg cornsnake (they are harmless) and incubated the eggs and most hatched. he gave me one. it was so tiny!!! and pretty. well, the little sister told me one day "i'm afraid of snakes, BUT slinky is ok." she even wanted to hold him. he was the best, chillest little guy. this was my first pet after a cat. and unintended. point is, i think we can hold a mental image that stands in our head for certain animals until/unless we are around them more. then we sort of see there's more to it. it's ok if you never want pets, not everyone does. but usually there are a few types of creatures someone could find interest in or appreciate. it's good not to be blocked off to nature, and this series is a good way to sort of get reconnected. : )
21:12 -Pushes off cricket -has a laugh -goes back the way he came from, so he literally accomplished absolutely nothing other than bullying the cricket

It's amazing to think that you probably own very rare footage of insect mating strategies! I'm very invested in this series! Keep up the awesome work
Glad you like them!
1:36 I LOVE THAT HIS DOG TRIES TO LOOK IN PANTDORA SOOOO CUTE

Thanks 🙏
I think i was in the first 10k subs back when he was still in Canada. Im a little jealous of you because you have a big back catalog to watch!
The song the crickets sang was so funny😂😂😂😂
Hope there are more like you in the world to help undo the damage the past 3 generations have done to the Earth’s ecosystem.

Loved the cricket mating songs and how the female totally ignored the first male who sang her way!
The frogs and fish try population control. Oh, and the marauder ants being food for black crazy ants. I'm involved 😊
A generational shift is coming for us, might not be this generation but we’ll start feeling the effects of humans in our floating rock soon enough
Insects are animals.
I'm so invested in this series, and pantdora as a whole. Despite being pretty averse to all insects, they are fascinating and this vivarium is an amazing way to study their behaviour.
❤️🐜🙏
14:50 The setup and payoff of this cricket getting mauled played like something out of an 80's slasher, graphic scenes and all. I was sure the couple near the ants were gonna get the Friday 13 treatment too! The setup was perfect!
You are becoming quite the story teller. "you choose death, if you come any closer" Love this. 🦗🦗🦗
I read this as he said it😂 had to go back to make sure I heard right
The cricket serenade was good too 😊
Hey AC! Regarding the small insect you found underwater at around the 22 minute mark, my best guess judging from some of my work with other insect larvae is that that is a mayfly larvae still rather early on in development, and probably did come in accidentally with the plants you purchased. Lucky find!
22:15
To me it looks exactly like a damselfly larva.
Wow I was just at that part when I found this comment
I think it looks way more like a damselfly instead. The 3 appendages at the end of the abdomen, whatever they are called, look more like of a damselfly larvae too
What an eye opener this eco system is becoming. Well done!
Nothing like the little doggy at 29:07 wanting to know and see what’s inside. Love frenchies
This sounds so cool! Hope you upload videos about the process and the results. I'd definitely watch that.
Keep it up.
Ahhh I keep misgendering the animals! Thank you! Ant love forever!
@@AntsCanada my pleasure.

Thanks for watching!👍
So glad the marauder ant colony is still there, they are so neat with all the different shapes and sizes

Gahhh I'm so invested. Your cricket love songs were hilarious. Can't wait for next weeks update. Good job with the "cliff hanger"
This has got to be the best and most natural, while also most primal version of reality TV I have ever witnessed. And oh boy, is it breathtaking.
I think the format is also pretty unique, a livestream wouldnt do the narrative justive.
Hearing you talk as the animals always makes my day, my mom used to go this for me with our pets and it always made me happy :)
I've seen some of the more recent episodes but I came back to watch from the beginning. I have always been one to 'let them outside instead of kill them' and I just wanted to say I appreciate you calling them 'animals' instead of 'insects.' I hope you're doing well, and I absolutely love this series. Great work.
That Pray Mantis curb stomped that ant to death while continuing to sway and blend in as a leaf.....that's some gangsta sh*t
I look forward to the next installment of this bio-saga!
ohhh yeah bio-saga is a great description!
That acrobat ant is a gigachad, threatening a mantis, fighting off like, 6 ants at once, its wild
🤣🤣🤣 Seriously!!!
Thank you.
22:22
That damselfy larvae will eat your shrimp and potentially guppies too once it gets bigger.
Glad you enjoy it!
Wow, how do you drop an episode this full of amazing moments? This series and channel are my favorite things to watch.
❤️🐜🙏

We ain't plant, fungi, or microbes, man
So we're in that Kingdom Animalia too. Not healthy to live in fear of like 99% of the earths biomass
sounds like you went through some stuff in childhood. and like you just need to sit, breathe and desensitize. like you could sit in a park and watch a bird sing, or a chipmunk. it carries a lot of stress to hold onto something like that and usually with a little (even indirect) contact you can start to unmake that tension.
wild example but when i was very young my best friend's little sister (kind of a butthead) but she was afraid of snakes. another friend of mine's cousin found a preg cornsnake (they are harmless) and incubated the eggs and most hatched. he gave me one. it was so tiny!!! and pretty. well, the little sister told me one day "i'm afraid of snakes, BUT slinky is ok." she even wanted to hold him. he was the best, chillest little guy. this was my first pet after a cat. and unintended.
point is, i think we can hold a mental image that stands in our head for certain animals until/unless we are around them more. then we sort of see there's more to it. it's ok if you never want pets, not everyone does. but usually there are a few types of creatures someone could find interest in or appreciate. it's good not to be blocked off to nature, and this series is a good way to sort of get reconnected. : )
