OMG thank you for mentioning niching. It's not just about industry type or "genre" etc. I mainly offer strategy and consultation over actual content creation & scheduling. So many clients really appreciate this because they often have a Social Media coordinator who may just need "help" here and there.
Coming across your page was a blessing. Thank yo so much! If you only knew how much motivation I received. I now have more confidence about my passion and about services I was giving away for free to friends and family instead of charging out of fear.
Love that point you made about the race to the bottom. Sooooo many freelancers make this mistake and muddy the water for future freelancers and it's important to know your worth not just on your level, but the client's level as well.
This helped me secure my product and enforce the quality of my service. I now have revenue goals and ways to reach them thanks to this video. I will not undervalue my work. Thank you
this is SO HELPFUL as someone who's just dipping their toes into social media management but wanting to do this full time. thank you thank you thank you!!!
I appreciate you making this video. Pricing is definitely a touchy space. I do believe in making joint ventures and working on partnerships to help expand.
Regarding pricing: When I started out when I was working full time, I figured my hourly rate based on what I was making at the time. Quickly realized I needed to include calculation so I changed up how I was doing it. Now I operate off making 3 times my "day job" so I'm making double my hourly even after taxes are taken out. I probably need to push it to be 4 times, in case I'd get sick and have to hire someone, but I'm waiting until I get the customer experience down before I move on to that.
Yes! These insights work for areas other than SMM. For example, I am an Education consultant and trainer, I work with schools, and start ups, and I have these problems. This video comes at a good time for me, as summer breaks will start in India in April. I want to limit the number of projects I take on for the next 3 months, and spend quality time with my son. So for me, some of the tips here go beyond the pricing factor. I am gonna rewatch this video, to work out my strategy :) The main thing before determining your our prices is also the self-believing that we are worth it. If clients value us, they will pay what we are worth. If not, they weren't meant to be our client in the first place. Thanks LJ for another priceless video :)
This is great! Do you by chance have package examples that coincide with the prices you mentioned? For example, 3 posts/week on one platform, 2 hours of engagement/week, etc.?
Million thanks to you Latasha! so glad I ran into your video. This is very helpful, esp for startup freelancers like myself. If only I had found you sooner I could have joined your free social media management starter class. I hope you will have another one.
great video! I have a client who pays for ads, content capturing, creation, travel, & scheduling! It's not too hard to offer all of those. But it is time consuming
You mentioned that your clients aren’t local. I’m planning on starting an SMMA and a question I have is how did you get started with non local clients and how do you manage and work with each client without seeing them in person?
Thank you so much! This has been a passion of mine that I’ll be stepping into more this year and this video has helped to make clear some hesitations that came with charging a client. Thank you for the insight and tips!
As an experienced content creator I ran into starting video producers who charge very low and what inevitably happens is they're out of the market in a year or two as they can't afford to stay in business racing to the bottom.
I get so many leads and discovery calls with people but have yet to land a client who will pay me more than $500 a month lol I need to figure out where to find higher paying clients
Hi there, I LOVE your channel & content, thank you for sharing knowledge & being transparent to use 'newbies'. :) Also, any chance you'll do the Social Media Management Starter Class again? Would love to check that out if so....or get the recording link. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the pricing tips, very helpful! Any recommendation on groups, websites or freelance communities to stay updated on the current rates, based on niche, clients' location, etc Thanks!
Hello, I'm starting my SMM services which includes: content creation, keyword research, strategy, monthly calls, auto publishing/scheduling, community management, analytics and more with 3 package pricing points with the first packages starting at about $375 to about $650 a month for the first 3 months. And this is not including money for ad spend. And I am a beginner in terms of this service but I'm very well experienced in providing content creation. What do you think of these prices starting out?
@@thelatashajames Hello, (This is the same person, this is my business account) I thank you so much for your response, I was thinking about this as well, now this will be my price for the first month or so just to get clients in the door, but yes you are right, because I'm thinking of my living expenses and cost for equipment and software. But I heard that you had a free class today?
Content creators are different to social media managing now! F.e I'm a content creator, I don't touch my clients social medias. BUT I sometimes offer to manage their social media if they're willing to test it out, but this is mainly to show them how to utilise my content.
Sorry about that, Emmy! I try to do one every month or so! Actually doing a different live class tomorrow. I share all the links with my newsletter and on Instagram, here's the link: view.flodesk.com/pages/6347313312fa5e426dd8458e
This video was so helpful, thank you. I currently work in higher education marketing, but I had a lead for some freelance work. I have a question. If you offer paid social media advertising, who pays for the ads? Is it the business? or is it the freelancer, meaning you’d have to factor that into the cost of your package?
Wow! Your awesome and helped me alot. First time someone talked about money and helped figure out pricing 💪🏽💯🔥 I'm interested in learning and leave my 9-5. Do you offer free classes?
is this with managing only 1 client and accounts for 1 only? I have one client were i handle 2 clients at once for this 1 client. And it’s only $900 and i feel they aren’t paying enough because they have been pretty difficult to deal with, would love your advice on this and feedback.
I’m curious on your opinion on what I could charge just starting out in social media management. I have an associate’s degree in graphic design, 5 years of photography experience, and I can do social media videography. I’ve been studying everything about Instagrams and Facebooks algorithms/engaging content ideas. I’m going to offer three packages but since I’m just starting with this background in mind, do you think I should start my packages in the $700-$1200 range? Or maybe higher? I would also schedule content, write captions, and travel to the business location bi-weekly to shoot content.
What I don't hear going into this is what value are you providing to the customer. You are creating prices based on how much YOU want. The pricing scheme you are describing is completely arbitrary lol. As someone with a technical degree and in business development this sounds like such BS.
@@KiwiKiller88 I respect this comment! It’s just a part of pricing, as I believe I mentioned. This is an example starting with labor/work hours, but value absolutely needs to be factored in. It’s a starting point, not a hard and fast rule.

Definitely raise your rates! I don’t know your target audience/niche or skill level in detail, but that sounds like a lot of work

Dang, the webinar is expired now. is there anywhere else I can still watch it?

your video is very helpful. because i will create account on Fiverr as a social media manager
What if I'm outsourcing services like graphic design or videos done? How do I state additional cost for this?
How would I go about charging a client to go to their establishments to get content?
So I tried joining the free class you mentioned, but it is expired. Any chance I can still get in on this? ❤
Super video 😉👍❤
