@leecallam-target182's is a much better advice. It's weird how people go make tier list and give advice on things they haven't even done with such confidence.
lol i have experience in ecommerce and trust me its risky, and hence not easy, on the other hand content creation is not that risky so its not that hard, whatever she said is actually true. its like learning to crawl before you walk, then learning to walk before you run....its not what we wanted to hear (get paid big bucks quickly) and yes it will take that much time
As someone who spent 10 years side hustling every single thing she said is TRUE! NO SUGAR COATING AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT! I had to try most of these myself to learn what’s up. The fastest I made money was junior freelancing.
I like the straightforward presentation of these vocations. It's so true how so many RUclipsrs are trying to sell viewers on 'easy' money such as tossing up digital products, drop-shipping, and the like. I love making items and I have tried to do online retail for my handmade products like my cold process soaps, and quickly found how difficult it is to sell retail. The process of making my soaps was time consuming, the cost to even be able to buy the supplies, the overhead of having a website and trying to film content because it seemed like what I needed to do to get people to see my products was soul crushing. I never even broke even after 3 years- even selling in person and in a physical store... But whenever I have offered skill-based services I had people coming to me and asking me to work. I think the advice of selling services is SO good. This comment is getting too long now lol!
I've never seen a single video from you before (and no idea why it was suggested to me) but I'm really impressed with the way you break everything down about the different types of businesses.
Just as some feedback for you (since you mentioned you aren’t always sure what people like about your content): I enjoy your content because you appear confident, successful, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Your friendly and conversational tone makes me feel like I’m getting top secret tips, without coming across as gimmicky or a hidden sales pitch for some other service. I like that your advice is actionable, realistic, and you have the experience and portfolio to back it all up. You are an excellent communicator and clearly understand what barriers keep most people from reaching their professional goals! Keep up the amazing work, I can’t believe you give out all this information for free - but please don’t stop, because you’re making this info accessible and leveling the playing field for people with little to no starting budget. It’s so refreshing to see someone running a successful business, doing what they love, and not trying to pull the ladder up behind them.
That list is truthful and 100% correct. I myself am sitting comfortably in the B tier right now and have been looking at those channels further down the line. I would never recommend to anyone to start a business in your C-D tiers, unless you already have vast experience in that channel or an unfair advantage with a similar product from another job maybe. Freelancing is and has to be the gateway drug - most of the time.
This is the most realistic roadmap I ever seen! Saw a lot of video suggesting start selling digital products but you're so right that you need audience to drive traffic to your business. I'm so glad that I start freelancing first. Even though I only have 3 client at this moment. You really inspire me 🥰
Very insightful, much appreciated! Subscribed as well! I am a semi-retired business consultant (I need something to do to keep me sane) and this is just the sort of practical and honest guidance I need. Thank you!
😭 the more content of yours I watch, the more obsessed I become - it just gets better and better! And it was already great from the beginning! I can't wait to save up enough for your DBM course. Btw, I love love love your font and B-roll choice for this video, I think it very much goes in line with you and your brand. Thank you so much for being one of the female role models I have for the future that I want for myself.
You have provided so much value! I ran a service based business online and was so happy...I eventually moved on because it seemed like it was not scalable, but I was wrong. Now I am committed to starting back up and scaling it fro the get-go!
Just the confirmation I needed to go ahead with starting freelancing I want to become a Virtual Bookkeeper and I've been struggling with a lot of doubting thoughts But I feel encouraged to get started now Thank you Deya Virtual hug🤗

This is exactly what I was searching for - I'll attempt to reach out (if you do additional training ). Either way, thank you again- you're a total bad a**! And you obviously genuinely care about what you share with others (aren't trying to run a scam or mislead). ❤
While I appreciate all of the work you did I am now depressed and discouraged. I have absolutely no desire to do any type of freelance work or any of the startup businesses you suggest. I did work on RUclips for 10 years and I’m glad that you mentionedit is really only a side business at best. After 10 years I earned the same part-time salary that I earned when I first started earning money on RUclips. A huge portion of RUclipsrs earn well below the poverty level. I did have multiple sources of income, including two books that I wrote and published selling on Amazon selling digital products and I was paid by a few companies to promote their product products. I still at best earned a part-time salary for way more than full-time work.I still think because I have such a strong creative drive that I am going to have to attempt the print on demand way and just see where that takes me.
Digital products can be a trap for beginners! I’ve seen so many friends fail after believing it was easy money. 💸 Anyone else learned this the hard way?
This video was amazing! I run a Product Brand and it’s so true on how difficult it is. Your ultimate pipeline is genius and I’m gonna tell everyone about it 🚀
You are the most valuable RUclips channel I have found so far on RUclips in over 20 years. So much knowledge.. you definitely know what you are talking about. Just stay the way you are please.
I love how honest and straightforward this is! You laid out all the pros and cons so well, very helpful and wish I’d know all this when I started my entrepreneurial journey
Interesting take. I think this is less of a tier list and more of a road map cause this is literally my journey as a graphic designer 🤣 I started as a low level freelancer -> tried to start an agency (then failed) -> now I'm doing content and selling digital products. Gonna save Tier E for next year lol. But in all honesty, starting from Tier A will definitely make Tiers C, D, E much easier.
Isn’t freelancing also too competitive? I mean, nowadays everything is competitive (in almost every field). In my opinion the key to sucess is going to be uniqueness, adding your own personal touch. What do you think?
Ya she didn't mention that for a beginner freelancer it could take many months to just get 1 client, no beginner is going to stick in front of his computer for that long without getting any validation.
@@SurajKumar-kk9pr not just a lack of validation but if this is your only source of income and you're not getting any clients then you're screwed, you have to start it as a side hustle and grind it out for ages before you can do it as your main source of income
If you don’t have a 9-5 is freelancing a good start. But freelancing is pretty much worse than a 9-5 from my experience: you sell your time for money, have to deal with price dumping, have to work long hours and during weekends - at least until you have stable clients. So I wouldn’t really contemplate it as a business… it’s a job. Business means you invest money to make money. This starts at tier C in my opinion.
Totally agree. Plus, freelancing is not easily scalable unless you scale up your working hours. And very often you have to bid for a job going lower with your price than what you value your time and knowledge. Wouldn't include it as a business.
Thank you for this. It's very helpful as I'm trying to determine not only what kind of business I want to start, but also in trying to understand what kind of business I'm willing/likely to be successful at, based on what kinds of (business-related) activities I enjoy, and what resources I have. Thanks a lot! (Subscribed🙂.) And I did watch to the end (no trouble at all), so I appreciated the hug, too 😀 (Free Gift! ) P.S. Thanks, Kirsten!
I believe that service-based businesses are a great way to start because they allow you to leverage your skills and expertise without having to invest a lot of money in inventory or manufacturing. Additionally, service-based businesses can be more scalable than product-based businesses, as you can add more clients without having to increase your overhead costs.
Love your videos Deya! So refreshing to hear business advice from you. I accidentally stumbled into my service based business (baby name consultant) via content creation. It's such a neat job and there's not many of us out there yet!

I think that many pros and cons of freelancing and product-base business are similar, you just don't mention them. You have to have SOME knowledge or experience to start freelancing as well, it takes time to get clients unless you already have a base (like the audience), freelancing is also highly competitive (like any other job), both give you freedom to work from wherever you want, and freelancing is not as easily scalable. You should compare the same changeables to make a fair scale.
