As a Christian, I am pleasantly surprised with the way you guys handled this subject. This video went much differently than expected. Thank you. Be blessed!
@R Hamlet Exactly. I just pointed out in another comment that the video poster employs Ancient Aliens tactics (mixing statements by serious scholars about mundane claims and what people just believed back then with statements made but nut jobs, including the video poster him/herself, about alleged "facts" revolving around the supposed resurrection for which there are possible alternative explanations that are far more likely, given what we know about human nature). This gives the video as a whole the aura of critical respectability, which works very well on people with a bias view on the topic.
@R Hamlet I agree. Every point he made has been said to death by Catholic/Christian apologists. My ex who was Catholic and got very into Catholic apology (a major reason we didn’t work out) parroted every single one of these points. It means nothing to say historians agree Jesus existed if said historians are (probably)Christian or raised in a predominantly Christian society. There really isn’t much “evidence” outside the Bible and Christianity that Jesus was real. A couple of guys around that time saying Jesus was a guy they’d heard of doesn’t negate this fact. This video basically does nothing but give credence to the idea that a man’s spirit rose from the dead and that magic does indeed exist 🙄 also, the idea that these books could have been written with near perfect accuracy 25-65 years after the alleged events took place just because people were really into story telling at the time is preposterous. Story tellers are known to embellish. It’s what they do. And you’re right, there’s a very big difference between other historical figures and Jesus in that people wouldn’t be so motivated to fabricate stories of Alexander the Great as they would be motivated to make up stories about Jesus. There are biases at play when it comes to the existence of a supposed God that don’t exist when you’re talking about some kings or warriors of the past. Come on now, infographics, do better.
@@vvieites001 so your argument is that one side is completely biased while downplaying the existing evidence. Sure the eyewitnesses outside the Bible don’t 100% prove it, but it still is valid. Saying an argument is invalid due to them being biased is just absurd. It damages the credibility, sure, but doesn’t debunk it. Also, atheists have biases as well, especially among those who think they are superior to Christian’s.
At the end of the day, believers and non-believers cannot have a meaningful debate about the historicity of the synoptic gospels because they operate off completely different presuppositions and epistemology. Also, the 'quest for the historical Jesus' was already attempted in the 19th-20th centuries, particularly by liberal German theologians. It's a rather pointless exercise, as you merely find the answer that you want to find based on your own presuppositions. That's why the Christian faith is - faith. And faith is not just a blind sentiment. It's a God given life-transforming and eye-opening gift, the ultimate joy, that changes your life through and through.
@R Hamlet definition of faith according to Oxford: complete trust or confidence in someone or something. So faith can use evidence. You’re just inserting your own definition and saying if it doesn’t apply to yours then it is irrelevant.
For me I think the reason Christianity became the worlds biggest religion is because of what happened on the Cross at Calvary. To remind people when Jesus was pieced in the side with a spear the roman centurion Longinius had his face covered in water and blood, this was an extremely strange phenomenon for obvious reasons. This shook him to his core so much that he became technically the worlds first Christian and was literally Baptized in the blood and water of Jesus, another Prophecy he foretold. The world also had a terrible violent earthquake and the sky went dark during the daytime for nearly 3 hours. This entire sequence of events is the reason why the religion exploded like it did. Imagine seeing that happen in person. it was probably the only thing the people who lived during that time would about.
The Roman soldier wasn't the first christian. Christians were first called christians in Antioch, before then, Christians were anyone who believed and followed "the way", those who believed in Jesus as the Messiah. He also want baptized since baptism is full emersion in water based on the baptisms we see taking place in the bible. What prophecy are you referring to?

You’ve seem to have spent a lot of time on this subject, so would you be able to help me understand one of the Christian claims. See I’m an atheist and see a lot of people using the empty tomb as an argument like in this video. However I have not been able to find any independent evidence of a tomb whatsoever. It’s not found anywhere else in the NT other than the gospels and it’s not corroborated by secular/theologically independent sources from the time. Additionally the notion of a proper burial for a crucifixion victim goes against what we know was standard Roman practice. With this all said would you happen to know any evidence of a tomb in the first place let alone an empty one?
@@arcticpangolin3090 why do you need specifically evidence of the tomb in other sources? What about all the other evidence? @@Silkskii I would like evidence because, as I said in the original post, the whole idea of a tomb burial is contradicted by the standard procedure for cruxifixction victims. This means that this would be an irregular event and thus would need more evidence to be rationally accepted. This would be a special case and I’m asking what reason we have to accept this as historical? And what “other evidence?” Because it’s a claim only found in the gospels. And, since the gospels/the gospel narratives are not independent, this is a single source. We don’t have any independent corroboration even within the bible. This is something I explicitly said in my initial comment. I’m sorry but it seems that you didn’t actually read my initial comment very carefully. This can be seen in your insistence on the “other evidence” when I explicitly pointed out a lack of any independent corroboration.

That was until He visited me and showed me the difference between logic and faith. He explained to me that the two are not reconcilable in the human mind so to try to prove or disprove one with the other is not possible and an attempt to do so will inevitably lead you to a false conclusion... The difference, He explained, is that faith, by its definition, must come without evidence. Though the world hated Him, He remained ever kind and loved unconditionally. It is such a beautiful message.
Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun throug the heavens. Christianity is ancient astrology, it's just fables about the sun. Check out Acharya S aka D.M Murdock for more info. .

@@DemonCore618 unrelated topic. But. For the most part, the Classical-era Greeks "believed" in their gods in a similar way to how a modern American might believe in the Constitution. They were foundational for both national identity and civic institutions, and an important ideological hook to hang all sorts of ideas on, but didn't usually play a very big role in everyday life. Everyday religious practice tended to revolve around local cults which were sometimes very different from the big Olympian deities we normally think of. The idea that the gods were metaphors for "phenomena occurring within nature" is basically the invention of the 19th century scholar Max Müller: his view was that a statement like "Zeus makes it rain" was, originally, strictly linguistically equivalent to "it is raining". This was a very influential view, though the linguistic side of it disappeared in later theorists like Andrew Lang and George Frazer, who emphasised the grounding of myths in ritual and the irrational -- though they all shared the view that myths were essentially a fantasised reinterpretation of primal sentiments that were still shared by modern "civilised" people. This is just one of several "big schools" of thought on the nature of myths: others include the psychoanalytic interpretations of Freud and Jung, the structuralist interpretations of Dumézil and Lévi-Strauss, and the "monomyth" of Joseph Campbell. None of these monolithic theories has really stuck in modern approaches to myth, because it has become more widely recognised that myths are just too complex to be explained by any one theory. Any one of these theories might apply in some cases, but fail completely in hundreds of others. And, on the contrary, Christianity has more social and political elements as well as people arguing for its historical validity. But, I think the biggest difference is probably time frame removed from relevancy. But also - I have no idea. This is all speculation. That’s a good question.
As a Christian i really like the way you didn't only just focus on going against and for the belief of the Messiah Jesus Christ, you actually gave theories and ideas on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
@@JAMESLOONEY-kd1nu Because it was so in the prophecy and the Son of God himself said that after 3 days. It's probably some symbolism. He said: ,,Destroy this temple and I will rebuild it in three days."
I’ve always wondered the historical proof of Jesus even existing. I couldn’t think of a better channel, to answer a question I ask myself almost every day.
I believe that Jesus was a real person but no way he was special in anyway. There is no proof of any god or Jesus having special abilities. I have asked 100s of times and no one has every given me an answer, what makes you believe? Why do Christians always avoid the question.
However - there was not a single document mentioning Jesus while he was still alive. No letters of followers talking about loaves and fishes. This is unusual if we want to believe that the stories, and accounts of Jesus life written in the New Testament happened. Much less famous and less notable figures had documented evidence or at least mentions of him being alive exist across the lifespan of when Jesus was said to be alive.
The purpose was to free the slaves from Rome, right? and bring another option of life for the poor. Beware sheeps clothing when the rich dress up to represent God.
Early writers fabricated the resurrection hoax by making up fake testimonials that the disciples & others have witnessed an empty tomb & a risen Jesus.
ROMANS 10:9 ESV Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Who's Lord ? Who raised who ? Or did he raise himself ? So God was dead there for a while before being raised by himself ?!! Seriously ?! There is but one God and Jesus Christ PBUH is but one of his great prophets. Believe or not, he was not crucified in the first place, as he was actually raised to heaven by God and he will be coming back to earth in the future when God wills. PS: If you want to be saved then believe in the one true god and do good deeds so that God may have mercy on your soul. Anything else wouldn't help you. " being saved" actually takes effort and a lot of struggle as one would expect.
@@7hinkable These we’re very biased facts my friend and chock full of modern day apologetics. They use the Bible to prove the Bible. So this wasn’t that impressive of a video and definitely not convincing…unless you already were a believer to begin with… Cheers.
As a Christian and after watching this, I will say that the video points out very good points. It does admit that something truly incredible happened which caused the disciples to spread the Gospel. Additionally I really like how it emphasizes that the Gospels are written more on a fact based rather than a romanticized way. I believe that Jesus rose from thé dead because of several reasons. He is said to have appeared to over 500 different people, the disciples died for the faith, and prophecies came true. Overall, this video gives a fair opinion on the resurrection of Jesus thé Christ.

Amazing video. I was avoiding it for awhile, expecting it to be one-sided and biased. I was totally surprised and very much enjoyed the video!! Thanks 🙏🏻 Christ is King ✝️
Honestly I came in here thinking this would be an entirely one-sided debunkery of the resurrection. But instead it actually strengthened my belief in it.
I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!
The fact that the Apostles went on suicidal and brutal journeys to spread his message after they said they had seen him Resurrected with the fatal wounds on his body and speaking to them prooves it .. if he died and stayed a behind as a rotting corpse the apostles would have abondonned him and carried on with their lives , but their witnessed something insane ( the ressurection) that drove them to go on their brutal suicidal journeys

Then how can one rely on Gospels blindly even after it is clear to contain numerous errors? Even with the hundreds of hours of debates that I've listened to this has summed up everything better than I could have even imagined. Thank you for being respectful, honoring, and fully truthful in your findings. I hope to see more on topics surrounding Christianity!
The other problem people fail to realize is that to be and become a Christian in those early decades would not have been an easy worldly feat to accomplish. To have been a Christian would have meant to fundamentally and permanently alter your view of the world forever, while simultaneously facing the very real and dangerous prospect of state punishment. Again like stated in the video, men don’t die for false beliefs. Men can die believing false things, but when you compound all the other aspects of Christianity at the time, you can more clearly begin to understand why this would have been very difficult to achieve without having the full conviction that what you saw and experienced was real and what your brethren saw and experienced was also real.
And we are returning to that level of trust being a requirement. God PROMISED us suffering as Believers and those who have bought the 'live your best life now' beliefs are going to find themselves in an extremely difficult place.
Men don’t die for false beliefs? I think every other religion would beg to disagree. The Sikhs are a religion built from conflict. The Muslims have been fighting for centuries, from the crusades to Isis. Mormons were persecuted and murdered fairly recently. But given your view, they must all be correct.
The Jews were under Roman occupation, and their religion was a messianic saviour cult. So a man came along claiming to be this prophesied figure, and the Roman empire had a network for mass spread of information. What's so difficult?

I think it exploded when the Roman Empire adopted Christianity.
@@bahok94 he described the reason why roman Empire accepted Christianity.
But what made them to adopt the resurrection?
The Roman soldier wasn't the first christian. He also want baptized since baptism is full emersion in water based on the baptisms we see taking place in the bible.

Even if you couldn't find evidence for the tomb outside the Bible that still doesn't discredit all the other evidence.

I would like evidence because, as I said in the original post, the whole idea of a tomb burial is contradicted by the standard procedure for cruxifixction victims.
@arcticpangolin3090 mark 15:43 "43 Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus." The tomb of Joseph of Arimathea is very well known. Like the scripture says, he was a member of council. Later in the chapter, we see that's where they put Jesus's body. We know where the tomb is.

If the Gospels are not trustworthy, then the quran is false because the quran teaches that the gospels are the inspired, perfectly-preserved, authoritative words of God. I love how you included the fact that it was difficult for Jews in the first century to reconcile with the view that Jesus was not the victorious conqueror that they understood him to be, but rather a portrait of humility and meekness. It goes to show that whether you believe in Jesus or not, He was and is victorious not by means of sheer force or kingly glory, but rather by making Himself a living sacrifice and servant to others; something that He commands believers to do also.
In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin"
The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind"
The sun is "The light of the World"
The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea.

@@AustinMulkaMusic why is Hades and Zeus mythology but Jesus isn’t?

HE LIVES!

They died being fully convinced of false things. Idk how that’s such a stretch
The Jews were under Roman occupation, and their religion was a messianic saviour cult. So a man came along claiming to be this prophesied figure, and the Roman empire had a network for mass spread of information. What's so difficult?

One of the most interesting videos. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, but as a Messianic Jew myself. It is hard to find something that sounds like someone isn't trying to put a spin to their video to whatever side they are on. I wouldn't know if you are a Christian or non Christian. Great job.
just curious, do you agree with all the "facts" he stated? not putting that in quotations because i think they weren't facts, but because you are jewish. and if you do agree, what is your consensus of the video? i took it it as, jesus lived. jesus died. the tomb was undoubtedly empty as it was surrounded by jewish guards. many accounts proved this. as well as many disciples not believing he resurrected just by word from the women who discovered the tomb empty, but until these disciples saw jesus himself. with that, how could you not believe this happened?! im genuinely curious, thank you.
@@kalebrodriguez8157 just bcs he said he a messianic jew does not mean he is Jewish your only Jewish if your mother is Jewish. @@kalebrodriguez8157 He does believe it happened, that is what Messianic means.... @ikey, it depends on what "sect" of Judaism you follow, some believe Jewishness only comes from your mom others believe it comes from either one of the parents...
Messianic Jew, that is fascinating. I believe some of my ancestors would have been Jews and I recently went to a Jewish Festival and bought a text from them and found it amazing, a mirror image of so many of the beliefs I came to naturally. It also reminds me of what I'm learning about Orthodoxy. I am Catholic and went to Catholic school but always fought this, feeling the need to establish my own religion. More and more I realize that this religion already seems to exist, the religion of the One True God, and it seems that Jews and Christians truly share in it. God bless the Jewish people and may they forever live in peace, I really hope I am Jewish by blood going way back, to be one of God's Chosen People would be an honor of a lifetime. So many have asked me if I am.
@@Awakeningspirit20 I recommend looking at FFOZ(First Fruits Of Zion), they shine a Jewish light on the New Testament.

It's quite biased and doesn't present arguments made against Christianity. It's extremely lacking in the arguments regarding the inaccuracy of the Bible.
@@ryanfloch6054 They addressed plenty of arguments from Ehrman and non-historians and debunked them. The non-believers had their fair shake and were objectively proven wrong. Your claim that "it's extremely lacking in the arguments regarding the inaccuracy of the Bible" is a strawman

@@subaru4920 I hope you do your own research one day. Reading the entirety of the Bible with an open mind would be a good starting point.
@@subaru4920 you’re not making any sense, Biblical documents ARE historical documents. Then you champion other texts as “History”?? This is a special pleading fallacy. You must not understand that all historical information is full of “Damning Facts” as you put it, and historians sift through all the material and investigate embellishments, interpolations, credible sections, etc. Just more special pleading for your assumption that secular historical documents would be pristine and without the need for such a process.
If you think this video was unbiased you need to do some introspection and realize how much you cling to your own biases.
@@perpetualponder6851 it’s impossible to be purely objective without bias. Best we can do is weigh all viewpoints together from different angles, and go with what makes most sense to you. I have a difficult time with the idea that we have so many texts with minor differences (differences that aren’t big enough to call any of the core theological ideas into question) from different locations…yet we’re supposed to believe that radical theological differences existed in the beginning of Christianity, however ALL traces of those texts are conveniently lost. That boils down to a theory with zero evidence to back it up.
Yeah this is far from balanced these are clearly apologetics trying to seem neutral
