Sorry I didn't get more in depth on the front facing camera or all the other software camera tricks - video was getting too long!
The video I was looking for !
Good editing, sharp comparisons, enough details without being overwhelming, straight to the points, thanks for the video 🙏
TYSM! Always appreciate these comments!! Glad it was helpful! ♥️
I am pretty grateful I found your video doing this type of comparison. I am traveling overseas soon to visit family and was going to bring my Sony A6000 and a couple lenses(wide and 35mm). I also just picked up a Pixel 6 non-pro and it has all the same lenses except the zoom and performance is pretty close between the two. I think I am just going to bring my phone along. I'll mostly be taking pics of family and landscape stuff. I don't think it is worth toting along the Sony for this occasion. My usage is mostly just walking and doing basic "point and shoot". Your video really helped my decision because I want to travel light this time.
I hate making that decision when traveling!! But it's true, these phones are so good now! And straight out of camera, Pixel is great! 👍. Have a safe trip!
EXCELENT WORK ! Beautiful review !
I like the grain in the Sony shots. It seems like zooming into a scan of a classic photo on film.
And I'm surprised how well the Pixel held it's ground against a 1000$ camera. That is without the price of three lenses and that Mac to do anything with them.
yea the phone's oil painting effect is really putting me off
To be fair, you buy buy a cheap iphone to use with Lightroom as a photo editor. I use an iphone 12 mini with lightroom to edit raw photos because it has a reference display and can do 1,200 nits in Lightroom for hdr mastering. I use iphones as laptop replacements. I got the iphone for $75...
Fantastic Video! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to know how well the Google Pixel 6 Pro three back cameras perform for real!
Pixal 6 is very bad oversharpening everything. Far away from real life representation.
This is how these mobile companies are fooling everyone.
@@akhilesh718 I don't need 'an expert' to tell me what kind of photography results I should like.
I had Pixel 6 Pro for ten days and I know that very often I would prefer its results over most of cameras for many reasons: hdr, easy, comfort, always in my pocket... however front facing camera is not so good...😢
Great, thanks for the test!
The easy low time to edit the Pixel pics on the phone is a major boost too. I have plenty of pictures that I easily clean up and play with contrast, coloring, erasing blemishes, and more. The times I liked the Sony more, I knew that I could spend a couple minutes if not less to get the color and look I want.
Great video! Thank you 😀
Awesome video man...got yourself a new subscriber!....keep up the great work! Love my pixel 6 pro as well paired with my Sony A7c nice to have both!
Thank you so much! And I was soooo close to pulling the trigger on the a7c, such a sweet camera!
Brilliant comparison!
Thanks!
awesome video! you should do some raw shots and then edit them for a comparison
I was honestly considering it! I feel like my Sony needs a fighting chance haha. 😆
Good video. I think you need to turn down the music so your voice would be clearer. Hope you test out the s22 ultra.
Great video✨
Wow i like this experiment/ comparison. And i just got a Pixel 6. Very good Chanel 👍👍👍
I really like the colours in this video! How did you light it and what camera were you using for your a-roll?
Thx Trusty E! Most of the A-Roll was shot on a Sony a6600 with default picture profile. Lens was a Signa 16mm f/1.4 Prime. Light was either natural or with a Godox ML60 and a large softbox.. @@thatsginter thanks!!
Thanks for this video
Wow - fascinating!
Ive had a pixel 6 since launch - great phone for images and video.
I also use both a camera and a phone and they certainly have environments where each excels at. Personally I would always use my phone when it comes to family outings or where there are people in the photos I need to focus on because it's much more convenient and I can share those photos in pretty much in an instant. On the other hand, environmental photography, I would most certainly always use my camera.
That's how I usually shoot too! I love the quality I can get out of my mirrorless, but sometimes, just capturing the moment/memory is more important! 👍
Great video. You've just gained a new subscriber. How are you liking the Pixel 6 Pro after spending some time with it?
Thx! As for the cameras, they are great! (for a cell phone lol). Been having a lot of fun shooting with it... 3 lenses + a wide selfie again is nice. I do wish it was smaller tho, and still don't love the front fingerprint scanner, but otherwise it's a great phone!
Ohh man what will be the pixel 7 camera going to be next year
The odd thing is that you might be misinterpreting contrast for detail. I think the Sony has more detail, just less contrast.
I think the Sony looks better, though, because all the lighting in it is proportional. On the Pixel, due to hdr bracketing, lighting proportions are out of whack and that out of whackness gets backed into the image which makes it appear artificial and fake looking.
So I actually prefer the a6500 images. Take those raws and then use lightroom to lift shadows if you want. That's the better approach imo.
Please do a iPad mini 6 and google pixel 6 camera comparison
Would be great to have the a6500 vs the Sony pro I phone as a review. Great job though!
Thx! and yes...that new Sony phone looks pretty sweet. I already own the Sony RX100m7 and they say that is the same sensor in the Sony Phone, just not utilizing the whole 1" sensor. I'm pretty sure you can achieve some impressive shots with the Sony Pro phone...just wish it wasn't so outrageously expensive!
Thank you!
I've had a Pixel 6 Pro since day one and I can't speak highly enough of it. I typically take pictures with both the Pixel and my main camera(Nikon d810).
nice video, and beautiful landscapes, you live in paradise
Ty Chester! Yes, it's a desert (and can get super hot!), but there are a few oasis spots here and there =)
Really nice compare
Amazing video.
Thanks!
I am impressed by the Pixels performance 😀. Glad I got it. 😁
I really enjoyed this video!! It was a very well thought out and informative video!! You did a fair comparison keeping it as equal as possible. I liked this video because you remained neutral and didn't bash cell phone camera users. I have several DSLRs and I used my Pixel 3A cell phone to take photos. I have considered upgrading to the Pixel 6 or 6 Pro but not sure if I should pay $900 for the 6 Pro.
Best of luck in your photography journey!
Duane
Thank You so much for this comment! I tried to keep it fair and keep things on Auto on both (a lot of commenters don't realize that was the point). Yes, you can absolutely get better pictures if you take your time and know what you are doing with a DSLR/Mirrorless camera, but sometimes...it's quick, you just got what you got, and need to capture the moment!
@@thatsginter
Unfortunately some photographers forget that even if a cell phone is inferior to a DSLR or mirrorless they need to realize that a cell phone is another tool and way for photographers to take advantage in capturing a photo.
Best wishes
Duane
@@thatsginter
I'm curious if the Pro 6 lenses produced the shots that they did would you ever consider using Moment lenses with the Pro 6?
Best wishes
Duane
Hmm, I'm curious too! I'd have to try them out myself to know. I do know the Pixel's main camera sensor yields the best results, but not sure how much better it would be with an added wide or tele lens vs. the existing wide and tele sensor/lenses. If I didn't already have so much invested into my Sony system glass, I'd probably already own some. In fact, I'm supposed to have received a Moment Case for the Pixel 6 Pro for Xmas, but it's been backordered and still hasn't arrived. 😓
@@thatsginter
Just for a thought I wonder If the Pixel's main camera sensor yields the best results between the 3 lenses would it be better to save some money and buy the Pixel 6 instead of the Pro? I have the Pixel 3A and considering upgrading but wonder if it would be beneficial in getting a used Pixel 5, 6, or 6 Pro?
The way you keep your camera lenses is heartattack triggering. I mean they could easily fall on a random earthquake day which we never know when it arrives. Or slight slip on the floor, holds the rack for support and it moved.
Well I recently sold my Nikon one camera because this phone takes better pictures The Nikon only went down to 160 ASA This goes down to 39ASA and gives you 1.9f lens!
With mirrorless/DSLR experience you already know how to help the smartphone get the best shot, so apart from optically generated smooth bokeh, the smartphone can usually cope well.
I really like the Sony but I don’t see where it would win for the average user. Is the Sony better in video?
I hear you. And yeah, the Sony would win with the right lenses and low light and locked off on a tripod. But the newer phones these days have pretty decent dynamic range and usually better stabilization.
In my opinion, you should've shot RAW with both cameras or JPEG with both. That would be a fair comparison. Just check the RAW files on your Pixel. You'll see the difference between JPEG and RAW. I own a Pixel 6 Pro and the difference is pretty surprising to me.
Nevertheless, it's a great comparison video. Thanks!❤️
So how it is in RAW with the pixel ?
@@MrNobody_1618 it's good but looks flat. So you need to tweak a little. But I like the way Pixel keeps the noise down even in RAW while shooting in night mode . I love my Pixel.
that fine detail of pixel 6 pro in raw is amazing, also the stacked shot dynamic range is also present and you can edit is the way you want because as said in video sometimes you don't want those shadows pushed too much
What all bloggers show: static pictures. Why not compare capturing of movement in low light: smartphone vs camera? Not all of us have statues or rocks as friends. Some move, you know? How is autofocus on that Pixel on a running child? I bet you know but you won't tell :)
Compare at low light bro :D
I understand both of them were on auto, but complaining about a high noise of A6500 with a shutter speed set to 1/160 vs Pixel 6 Pro 1/24 is nonsensical. Pixel 6 Pro won only because there were no moving subjects in the shots. Anyhow, who shoots in auto on interchangeable lens cameras?
It would be interesting to see 4k 30fps recording as indoors such as the kitchen and outdoors as it unfolds with both devices.
Regards from Argentina.
I guess if Google do an SLR/Mirrorless camera it's game over.
If mobiles do similar shots like DSLR, then what's the use of buying DSLR in 2022
Computational photography is the future. I love Pixel 6. But unfortunately not launched in india
totally agree!
Sony xperia pro I camera test
I personally think that for professional business shots, go with the Sony. for "family friend" photography (lol) I'd take the pixel.
my sister mainly shoots a Sony a6300, and for quick shots, she uses her pixel 4
Totally agree with this!
You should have reduced the size of the Sony captures to have the same number of pixels, which would increase their sharpness. When you zoom in, the Sony photos have more magnification. In summary, it is not an honest comparison,
Good video, but I feel that this comparison is slightly flawed and misleading. The whole point of using a mirrorless body camera with a separate lens is the control you can have over the photo/camera. Most people would shoot in manual if not aperture priority or shutter priority. The Sony has an internal stabilizer and so does the lens, in the environments you were in, shooting at ISO 4000 is ridiculous. A comparison with equal shutter speed, equivalent aperture, and then auto ISO would have been nice to see; and I suspect you would see the sony take the lead under such conditons.
I totally agree with you. 👍 Anytime I prefer quality, I still go for my mirrorless. I did state that this was an Auto vs Auto comparison though. Mainly for those quick snap situations and to see how the cameras process things for the casual shooter. I'm definitely a set it up on a tripod, add lights, lock that ISO low, manually focus, and process the RAW myself kind of guy when I have the time or desire to do so. 😁
I can't believe the a6500 in auto mode at 12mm chooses to shot at 1/160 sec. 🤨With my x-t100, with only the optical stabilization of the XF 10-24, I can easily shoot handheld at 1/15 sec. (without camera shake effect)...probably with the Sony in that configuration even at 1/10 (4 stops difference !!).
I used my Pixel 6 to shoot video of fireworks on the 4th and thought it looked great in 4k but I also brought my a6300 with the Tamron 70-300mm lens shooting at 70mm in 4k. Here is the a6300 video I shot using the Tamron lens at the beginning, followed by the Sigma 16mm to frame all the fireworks and ending with the Tamron again for the finale. I set the Sony to autofocus and used the Rode VideoMicro for audio. ruclips.net/video/XfMH71C66aY/видео.html
I thought the Pixel 6 would be good enough but wow was I wrong. The footage from the Sony was astounding, helped by the fact that I had it on a tripod and zoomed in so close to the fireworks. If I had the Pixel 6 Pro it would have been interesting to see them side by side using the telephoto lens.
With the a6300, I had the iso set to 100. The Pixel's iso was variable so that didn't help isolate the fireworks. I could have manually set this in FilmicPro but I'll leave that for another day.
Even though the footage was cropped dramatically more than the Pixel 6, the level of detail was amazing and gave a unique perspective on fireworks instead of the thousands of videos you see using smartphones. Then again, as a professional photographer you will know the best way to frame a shot, correct in post, etc. which to me is half the fun and well worth the time and energy.
That footage looked great! When it comes to video, especially low light, the bigger sensor should always win! With photos, the phones can stack images to help reduce noise, but that's not the case with video! (at least not yet...)
@@thatsginter thanks for watching. I'm still so happy with my Sony A6300. It's amazing that a camera this old still gives me great footage.
Comparison of jpeg file straight out the camera more have been better.
I disagree politely with the comparison. I just saw the indoor shooting part (skipped the rest). First, pixel uses a fixed lower f stop value (2.2 ?) Over your lenses which is 4(?). That is a big deal! A fair comparison would be a lens of that aperture. Because 2.2 causes bokeh (although sharpness) pixel uses focus stacking. Another disadvantage compares to Sony (even if you use a lense of that aperture). So, because I said too much, a fair comparison would be:1) Same aperture and 2) focus stacking for Sony. Fundamentally speaking (is physics after all) the Sony should outperform the pixel. Thumbs up for pixel for usability with very good results (I want to be fair) but thumbs up for an SLR (MFT, APCs etc) for a fully-fledged image (with editing or in some cases, for example, Lumix cameras there is a lot of integrated software in the camera there that saves some time).
You are right, it's not exactly the same. Sony would destroy the Pixel (any small sensor smarthphone) if it was using the same settings/aperture and also had a computational image stacking algorithm helping out lol. I really just wanted to see Auto vs. Auto with the same focal lengths for those quick photo opportunities or for people who don't want to spend time adding lights, shooting in manual, or even processing the RAW files themselves. Personally, I like doing the latter, but many times with the family stuff, it's not an option. I'm happy to see how smartphones have progressed, but I'm still carrying my Sony with me almost everywhere lol.
@@thatsginter I agree, in auto pixel does wonders. In contrast, everytime I tried to shoot in auto with my camera (jpg or not) something goes wrong. Wrong ISO, out of focus etc etc. I don't know but Google engineerings did wonders on that.
@@thatsginter this is exactly it. For regular outings that photography isn't your main focus then your phone is fine. If you want to focus on photography and potentially printing the image then camera all the way. I shoot on full frame so the low light is a huge diff as is the bokeh/depth of field. Not being able to stop camera lenses down to get sunstars is also a big turn off to me.
@@toddysurcharge771 yup, if you know what a real camera can do and know how take advantage of it, then you know what a phone can't do... It's more for convenience 😉

скажите ему, что у него настройки в камерах разные он сравнивает снимок с выдержкой 1/25 на пиксель со снимком снятым на сони при выдержке 1/160.
If you listen, he set both devices on AUTO. That was the whole point - to see which gave the best images without human input.
SONY masterpiece 📷
I thought the cameras was always better thn smartphones
So basically pixel won all the cases and you can sell your Sony now )).
Or you can move to something like Sony A7 to change results.
Haha, ya... I need to buy an a74 now, the wife should understand, results don't lie! 😂
@@thatsginter )))
jpeg vs arw, processed vs unprocessed, which is unfair in my opinion.
Totally. I intended to import the jpegs (they were selected for import), but the raws were in the same folder and Lightroom was "smart" enough to grab those. The jpegs do actually look better in the noise department tho. But since the raws aren't processed, the pixel still had "cleaner" images sooc due to the image stacking noise reduction happening automagically.
@@thatsginter Cuz DSLR nowadays do have stacking image processing too, and noise reduction is a truly huge differences between raw and jpeg. Also the quality of digital crop in is still far behind the optical zoom, tho it's due to the physical restriction and can't be simply overcame with algorithm and processing. These are my opinions and thanks for your reply.
@@leo.hsu.0301 totally agree with you!

😅😅
My Google pixel 6 Pro takes better pictures than my mirrorless camera.
Its hdr is better.but details are better on the camera tho.you have alot to work with and natural low light are better on camera too
I had the 6 Pro and sadly I finally returned it because of the awful front facing camera. I loved almost everything in the device but selfie camera and maybe the fingerprint sensor were not good at all.
I really hope they will have fixed this issues in the Pixel 7 🤞. The front facing camera should rise to the chalenge with the other three, however I compared the pictures with some taken from my Poco F1 running the Gcam apk and preferred the samples out of the old POCO... 😥
oh man, don't get me started on the fingerprint sensor! ugh! I'm still not happy with it either... and yes, front facing could definitely be better, but most phones don't have a great of a front camera compared to the back (i wish they prioritized it more since people love taking selfies - and for video calls). At least they made it wider angle again for bigger group selfies. 🤷🏻♂️
