    Just to add on here, this transmission is very similar to models for eclipse, neon, Sebring, avenger, and several more. Much of your information applies in other vehicles too. Thank you

    Yeah thank you this transmission is practically a unicorn when it comes to repairing. This video confirms my suspicions and now I know where to begin. Much appreciated!

    Hello, nice video man! I see another video about this issue and the Guy didn't dissemble the transmission apart he just pull out the little cover to get access to the bearings and replace it from the out side.

    Yes got it all back together everything works great once I had all my parts it only took maybe 4 hours to put it together and get it back in the vehicle but turned out great the little ears that were broke held up great that was only for reverse and there was no pressure on it and I only replaced what was bad left what was good alone that way I did not have to disassemble some of the shifting mechanisms

      There sure isn't much out there on these. Thanks for posting. Rebuilt ones are going for 2300 if you can find one. I may have to go this route. So you can drop the transmission without lifting the engine? Would be easier to pull the transfer case with the tranny?

      I have the same exact sound coming out of my 2008 Jeep Patriot. Can you tell me exactly what you bought from eBay? Did you pay the dealerships for the rebuild kit? Or eBay. I went on rock auto and they kits with out fly wheels for 200+ but I’m not sure what to buy can you please help?

    You can replace the bearings without taking the transmission apart. Here's how: ruclips.net/video/KdzLvMECQ2I/видео.html I found that if you remove the exhaust manifold, it makes it a lot easier to get at the transfer case bolts and is not too hard to do. I found that two of the bolts holding the transfer case (including the one you pointed out) have open threads on the transmission side. They are open to "pockets" which collect dirt and water. The bolts get galled up and can be very difficult to remove. I broke the case on one transmission that I was removing at a wreckers. Make sure you clean the pockets and soak with a puddle of penetrating oil for a couple of days. Heat helps too, before trying to remove them.

    How many miles were on the car? My 2014 only has 21,000 miles, and the trans is shot. I think Chrysler got a run of defective parts for the 2014 model year. Another person said his 2014 5-speed trans failed at 17,500 miles.

    I'm in the process of replacing the bearings inside the same transmission. I had already replace the rear input and counter Shaft bearings months ago. It was still making noise, so I pulled it and tore it open. I did not disassemble anything. I just separated the case. When I turned it over, a spring fell out. All of these "dog legs" you're talking about are all still where they belong. I cannot figure out for the life of me where this spring came from.

    • @truedepth3
      @truedepth3 2 года назад

      The Jeep Patriot is front wheel drive. What do you mean rear input?

    • @raeofsunshine81

      @@truedepth3 mine is not a jeep patriot. I drive a caliber express which has the same transmission.

    • @raeofsunshine81
      @raeofsunshine81 2 года назад

      There are two input shaft bearings in this transmission. One behind the throwout bearing and one on the other end of the transmission behind the rear cover of the transmission. Same shaft. Two bearings.

      @@raeofsunshine81 Oh, no. So there is another one that can go bad? This is crazy. Imagine how many thousands? of Patriot(and other with these transmissions) owners have had this problem, not knowing it is a defect from the factory.
      My Patriot only has 47,000 miles and the front input shaft is going bad. Makes an awful noise. I have taken it to 4 different places and they don't know how to fix it or say I need to replace the whole transmission, LOL
      I don't know what to do. Are you a mechanic, or did you just say screw it and did it yourself?
      After you fixed it, it failed again after a few months?

    • @raeofsunshine81
      @raeofsunshine81 2 года назад

      @@truedepth3 47,000 miles was about what mine had on it when it started making this noise. I had to replace every bearing Inside the transmission. Every single one of them was scored , burnt and falling apart. I'm not a mechanic. I just finished getting mine back together, but haven't had time to put it back in. There was literally no information out there to help me with this issue. This guy's video helped me more than anything I found. They told me that I needed a new transmission too. I was not about to drop 5 - 6 thousand on a new transmission. I should not have been the one to do this because I do not trust my abilities as far as transmission repairs, but I had no choice. Nobody would touch it unless they were replacing the transmission.

    Hi, thanks for the video!
    I want to buy a jeep compass with manual transmission but the transmission is broken.
    As the fix would be very expensive I'm thinking of doing it myself....
    How complex is its mechanics in general? do you have to disassemble a lot to remove the transmission?
    I have no experience in mechanics but I am quite skilled in general.
    I appreciate your answer and if you have any manual or diagram that you can provide me it would also be of great help.
    Regards
    Gabriel
