  • Sorry for the re-upload. I messed up the audio the first time. Discosoma mushrooms are excellent corallimorphs for beginning reef aquarium hobbyists. They are extremely tolerant of a wide variety of aquarium conditions and come in a dazzling array of colors. In this video we show them feeding on Sustainable Aquatics Hatchery Diet pellet food.

I got one more fragging method less intrusive, manage to get the mushroom attached to 2 different rocks and then slightly separate the rocks so that eventually the mushroom will split by itself.

As far as lighting, my mushrooms loved T5's and not so much with LED's. When I had T5's, they would grow quite large and under LED's, they remained small. I added T5's to my LED's and they once again responded almost immediately. LED's for my sps and T5's for everything else.

Hey do the mushroom shrink and slightly retract before they split? I have a interstellar mushroom for a month now and in the past 4 days it has looked smaller and “deflated”.. I can’t tell if it’s splitting because the shape is no longer round... it’s shriveled and looks like it has large indentations that are possibly “splitting”

What kind of lighting do LEDs fall into, light or medium? Does the intensity of the lighting affect the colour of the mushrooms?

I bought a rock with pulsing xenia on it. There was a puny discosoma on it. Now, all the xenia melted away and that mushroom has grown to be a noticeable specimen. Oh xenia...
