- If you're new to owning a Mini Lathe then this maybe the series for you. In this weeks episode in the Mini Lathe Basics series I'll hopefully cover the basics to drilling on a Mini Lathe along with briefly showing you how Tail support works.
I starting making this series for people new to the Lathe. Now the series is growing and gaining structure I hope this will help you gain some extra knowledge, even if it's only a small amount.
If you have found this video helpful or even the series the please Subscribe and help the Channel GROW!!!
Awesome series please don't stop making them regards from Townsville Australia
Pretty informative thank you. I'll be trying my hand at tackling my first stainless steel part, and it's going to require me to pre drill a hole for boring bar clearance. Pretty terrified honestly ha. I have a similar lathe, a wm210v, so we'll see how it goes.
O from Brazil and follow you and like Very much your work.
Glad your enjoying my content all the way from Brazil.
A good video, I want to see you grind a drill now, I suggest you start with 1/2", its easier.
A suggestion, never leave a tool to dwell in/on the job and you could drop your speed for the bigger drills, you could have drilled Aluminium at that rpm. :-)
Great advise once again accurately checking my centre line is something I’ve been meaning to do for a while so maybe it’s time I do that.
I like those brass handles
Cheers dude I’ve got a video of me making them. They make the lathe feel so much different.
Thumbs up to the new channel name
keeping it short "machining joe" rolls of the tongue easier.
Thanks for the support and great suggestion might consider that 👍
I thought rpm for centre drill was OK, sometimes with centre drilling you actually go a bit faster to give your drill strength, but don't forget it is only HSS. something was chattering on your M/C are you exactly on c/l with your tailstock?
Spindle speed is too high?
What lathe is this
It is a Warco WM180
Spindle way 2 fast for that 12mm bit..
Yes your completely right David,
Thank you for pointing that out to me. 👍
