Look at this. I'm watching this in 2021 and it's EXACTLY what I needed. Hope you're well!
Your the man! I think that's inevitable that one of these networks will offer you a full time show in the near future.
Looking good. I'm trying to turn my lawn from the dandelion and clover field it is now into a thick carpet of grass. I watch your older videos from when you were in CP for tips. Great video, thanks for posting!
Hey Allyn. I bought a commercial grade John Deer LP31340 spreader 2 weeks ago from Lowes. I had seen this video with you talking about the Earthway spreaders. I tried spreading some Milorganite in the John Deer spreader and it was not easy at all to push around, especially up hill. To me the John Deer is not balanced when loaded and the back resting skids are a little too long thus they drag in spots where there are bumps in the yard. I wend out today and picked up the Earthway 2150 spreader today. I topped it up with Milorganite and it worked perfectly. It is very well balanced (unlike the JD) and the on/off control is much smoother. Your video sold me on the Earthway. Thank you. Alan
I have a Lesco High Wheel Fertilizer Spreader Model # (101186). It is a great spreader for granular fertilizer but now I really want that walk behind sprayer, that is very cool!!!
thanks nut!
after watching pretty much all your videos you showed me everything that I've been missing. now I have a real "true" green lawn without all the cosmetics
thanks man, wish you well👌
+Ben Dover thanks Bro!
Another great video, left me wanting to see more.
Enjoy the transparency about product placement. I completely expect this hobby to become like NASCAR or Pro Bass Fishing with patches all over your shirt and mower!
+Ron Furro that would actually be pretty cool!
Been doing the Hybrid lawn care program here in Ohio. My neighbor got mad at me yesterday because of the defined line between our yards.... Domination lol
+Alex Petit I love it!
Congrats Alex! Strong reaction = admission of defeat. You're in his head man! I wish My neighbor would get mad at me. He's new , but soon he will fall to his knees! They all do eventually.
Your neighbors probably think a crazy person moved in. Haha. I'm excited to see the outcome. This is my first year with my new lawn and it already looks amazing but got a long way to go.
Wouldn't a preemergement act as a barrier for St Augustine plugs spreading out, which would actually block the stollons from developing roots?
Can't wait for the unboxing/review of the new broadcast spreader. I recently picked up a 2030P Plus, and it has the same shutoff system... I didn't know it was for edge-guarding. Looking forward to hearing more details on this feature!
+danmohan1981 awesome! glad this video helped you. I will be doing a full review of the 2100 A Plus this weekend.
I've watched most of your videos and I don't recall you ever mentioning a backpack sprayer. Backpacks allow for much more consistency once you get in a rhythm. You can maintain pressure without stopping to pump a hand can.
This is bad ass... Can't wait to see it when its full and beautious!
+HotChowder123 thank you!
Very interested to see the finished product. You have my cousin Jesse hooked man. Great vid bro.
I bought an Earthway based on your recommendation and I love it! I bought the 2150 and got a great deal on it. I tried using a plastic wheeled Yardworks brand and my lawn surface was too much for it. I also tried a tow behind and found it extremely difficult to get even spread. I really like the sprayer you have. Cant wait to see the review on it.
Northern tool sells the S25 sprayer for over $100 cheaper than Amazon.
As for a 4 gallon backpack sprayer, I've been using a $20 (when on sale) from Harbor Freight for approximately 3-4 years now. My lawn is Bermuda, mow with 20" 10 blade commercial McLane
Subscribed..... First at foremost, Thanks for all these videos you've posted over the years. I plan on viewing a lot of your older videos due to me being located in "The Region".....lol...NWI. Funny thing is, is I used to pick up ur Garage when you lived back here (Tiberon) 😉 and always admired your Lawn. Good Luck on your new adventure and I look forward to see how your new lawn turns out.
+Nick Ham ha ha small world right?
+The Lawn Care Nut I do have a question for you. My house faces East and in the front yard I patched a couple spots with sod. One spot was where a tree stump was ground out and another was where a basketball hoop base was. Both spots barely grown and can tell the areas have been patched. What can I do to spike its growth? And make it look like the rest of the lawn.
+The Lawn Care Nut too add, my wife isnt big into fertilizer due to runoff going into the sewers so we dont fertilize. I do however spot spray weeds. Is there a more organic way of fertilizing all year?
Great videos and I do this for a living! The earthway sprayer looks great. I just want to mention a good backpack sprayer is a great option for a homeowner as well to more efficiently spray. I use the echo ones which can be had for around $100.00 and with a flat fan tip and a pressure regulator valve I can cover a decent amount of ground pretty quickly.
Allyn, I had to cut back on my water. Just finished week of new seeds in lawn. I stepped on it to fix a low spot and my foot "sank" into the ground from it being so wet. Anyways we'll see what happens. Great videos!
Just an idea for a video, I know you like to develop content. You mentioned in the video to adjust your sprinkler system to ensure you have full coverage of the lawn. Maybe you can make a video of these types of adjustments for those of us who have irrigation systems but do not know how to adjust the spray heads. Keep it up, I'll see you in the lawn.
great idea thank you
I need some Earthway in my life.
Another epic video. I've had my eye on an earthway. A little smaller (I think) than the one you have. Hopefully I can pick it up one day. Can't wait to see your results!
+Harrison Fowler I have a smaller one that I'm shooting video on tomorrow and should have some edited by next weekend!
+The Lawn Care Nut can't wait. I'll use the anticipated review as a bargaining chip. Hopefully my wife will see the added benefit of a nice spreader.
The music that opens this segment is just the best for your tube cast. I really enjoy it every time I hear it. By the way, what happened to the bermuda grass?; did I miss something? I put in a bermuda lawn at my residence (Hampton Roads, Va.) the last week of June, 2015. It came in shockingly well for it to have been an off the self Scott's product from Home Depot, and not only that, but its growth habit mimiced a tall fescue, in that I kept it at 2.5 to 3 inches tall until mid September. I am anxiously looking forward to its return this summer. Keep up the good work.
+1mobeau 5104 I agree with you, that's my favorite song too - I've used it in the Bermuda grow vids and just recently brought it into these. As far as the Bermuda grow, I will have an update by the end of tomorrow. I've shot most of it and now am about 1/2 way through editing. But actually, right this second I'm snapchatting. :)
Alyn. Have you ever thought about seafoaming your Toro Super Recycler and making a video on it? That would be fun to watch!
Thanks for including us in your opener like that but right off I'm going I'm not the nut, you are. The white rimmed sunglasses are to die for, only a nut would wear those. But the purple reflectors made that make out scene with the milorganite, scary uncle type of scary. Keep it nutty, you know it's great stuff
Allan come october im going to follow this to a t. I live in fort myers. Yard is 99% weeds. Sprinkler system is getting repaired this week. Come october when fertilizer restrictions are relaxed my neighbors are going to get dominated!!
morning, really appreciate your videos. How long did it take for the plugged lawn to fill in?
whenever u put down herbicides or pesticides always follow the label, wear the proper safety equipment gloves, respirator and boots with pants tucked inside and when using fertilizers always use organic like revive or milorganite
I am anxious to see, eventually, how well st. aug. will stripe...
+John Kay me too!
Great vid! Glad you upgraded to Costas! LOL.
Love the show LCN! First time homeowner in the Charlotte NC area and I have learned a lot from watching your videos which I have been sharing with some neighbors. Some good tips and tricks also throughout your videos!
BTW, is that a bullet hole in the shed door?!
Tim, how can you dominate your neighbours if they know the same as you ????
Awesome video. Yard is going to look nice! Just curious you said in the last video you didn't want ANY Bermuda grass in your yard. Why is that?
great job Alan
Hey Allyn, can you do a video on Grey leaf fungus and what you recommend to get rid of it.
How much did all these plugs cost and where did you get them?
Hey Allyn. Really interested to see how your lawn progresses. How long do you think till full coverage with those plugs? Also, just a big thank you for your great video's over the last few years. I went from an OK lawn and improper care and mowing practices, now to a lawn that is starting to get there. (Not like you prior lawn, but thats quite a standard to meet) Anyhow, keep up the great work, and now that you are in FL, you have access to great beers like Cigar City and Funky Buddah!
I noticed you left some or all of the dead grass and/or weeds when you planted. I have a lawn where I'm going to do a scorched Earth approach [I had more weeds than Bermuda and any topsoil I bought or Bermuda seed I put down from Home Depot (I now know you don't use this stuff) had weeds in them so my problems got worse] where I'll have plenty of dead weeds and grass. Aside from pulling out some, should I just leave the dead stuff as long as most of the soil is visible? I only have 1000 sq. ft.
I am considering an earthway spreader to replace my cheapo big box store brand spreader. My cheap one throws everything way too far making it really hard to get consistent coverage.
If pre-em hinders root development to the point that sod can't handle it, wouldn't it have pretty much destroyed your bermuda seed's chances at developing good roots?
Just curious, did you start from scratch like this at you old place in Indiana I think? That grass was lush and you said it was tttf so wondering if you sodded that in? You rock!
I have been laying plugs since the start of April and doing well. However, a small spot in my yard looks to of encountered a fungal disease(spotty leaves turning yellow), do you have any tips for treating this in St. Augustine?
Allan will this work the same if I was seeding instead of plugs thanks, love your videos
Looks great
Like those white boots
I am seeing these small holes around my front lawn, what it is and what I can about it, please help
I don't think they make the S15 anymore. Can't find it anywhere.
I know you sold this property, but do you know how the lawn turned out? Also, my understanding is that prodiamine is not good to use on grass plugs.
Is that a 3" auger?
Which Auger did you purchase? There several on Amazon. BTW cute and informative video.
So you don't need to rip out all of the old root system?
Good morning where did the plugs come from? I live in Lexington, NC is there a place that you recommend? Looking for palmetto St Aug
Allyn, is there a way I can send you a pic of a weed or grass in a customers lawn. I don't know what it is, and how to get rid of it? Thank you.
I have the S25 spritzer sprayer. Having a problem with getting air in the tires. Any advice? Used a air compressor that I use for pumping up my car's tires
What's best time of year / or outdoors temperature for inserting plugs on ugly lawn?
What is the best fertilizer for st augustine plugs that are a few months old
need more!
How long did it take for the plugs to fill in?
Why is ok to put down pre emergent over the plugs but not the sod strips?
+Kevin Woodcock excellent question! The plugs already have a root system, the sod does not. The pre-emergent may stunt or even thwart the growth of the roots the sod is pushing.
Allyn how is the Liquid Sprayer (s25) holding up?? Looking to get it, was wondering if you have any reviews or recommend a different sprayer. Pro's V Con's...Let me know!! Thank You!!
Love it lookin good
Do not apply on new sod? Isn’t the plugs new sod?
I'm just curious as to how many ozs per 1,000 sqft of Prodiamine did you use and how long do you think that application of pre-emergent will last in your sandy soil conditions?
+bloibl1 theres other pre emergents u can use and theres one that can last up to 6 months its called pindee
Where do you buy the plugs here in Florida? We are in Tampa area
love your videos dude
For the next couple weeks you should be saying , "i'll see you in the dirt".
+Matthew Milam I know right?
+The Lawn Care Nut I double dog dare you to say it next vid. I've been watching for two years
+Matthew Milam well since you said it that way!
how do you bring back blue grass sod that has mold on it need help asap thank you
anyone cut self-made plugs from sod squares? is that more cost-efficient?
Did u put milo in the plug holes
How far apart did you plant the St augustine plugs please
Another 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ video!
I have been following your rehab plan sine we moved into our new Missouri home last fall. Currently our lawn looks AMAZING and our new neighbors are definitely feeling dominated.
I'm concerned about the grass type in our lawn though, I think it's a course type tall fescue like Kentucky 31. This fall when I aerate I would like to introduce a better fescue blend. Can I just over seed and expect good results? Would a newer grass type mix well with the course type tall fescue?
Ryan, I recently bought a house in CT and the previous owner used Kentucky 31 (awful) and it was looking tired. I aerated and overseeded using a fine textured tall fescue (Penningtons) last October and today while the results look good from far away, up close there is little uniformity and it always bothers me. If I had to do it over again last year I would have saved my time and money on overseeding and killed the entire lawn using a "non selective" herbicide (Roundup) and just started over. In fact, after this summer is over that is what I am going to do. Good luck...
+Lloyd Breeland yeah I would kill off the nasty fescue because it will never get the same color as new blends. I had great success with the Scott's tall fescue when I over seeded this year. You'll get the best stripes with per. Ryegrass so do both for the best lawn. Along with Kentucky blue if you are in the right zone.
Great In formation Al, hey what's up with the bullet hole in your shed
the turf wars in Florida are hardcore..
I'm just joking , but this information is very good. I brought some grass seed and I noticed when it grew it was much lighter grass then my existing lawn. I wanted to know will it change after time?
With centipede grass, it seems that it grows lush with good watering with no need for fertilizer. Is St. Augustine much different?
+Scott Warren it will grow without the fert, but the fert gives it a boost plus the organic milorg we applied will build soil health. So theoretically, using the fert will make you get faster results
Roger that.
how much did it cost you all in for plugging the yard
Where is a good place to get plug trays from ?? I’m California
Is it harder to stripe sant augistine grass
Allyn, does" Bayer season long weed control for lawns" work well?
Newbie lawn care nut since i bought a house. Help ! Wheres the grass
A freebee s 25??!! Dang!!! I hella need one of those!! The struggle is real... at 4 bills...fml
This is probably the same thing I'm going to do on my salad bar side of my lawn. Maybe you could do some of that super math and come up with a cost per square foot kinda thing.....
and how'd that work out for you
Hey Allyn, can I reseed and spray weed control at the same time, or should I do weed control this weekend and reseed with starter fert next weekend?
+Kyle Raines no weed control with seed at all unless it's labeled for it. This method here, plugging, is completely different
+The Lawn Care Nut awesome! Thanks man!
Plugs are not something I have experience with so I may sound like a nob asking you why not re seed the law after killing off all the junk. I have my own lawn care and home maintenance company and have re seeded many of laws in the spring. And had some really nice yards. Are the plugs supposed to fill in after some time and how long does it take
+chuckccfd9 good questions -- watch the video I published today - it will give you an idea of what seeding is like in Florida. Plus, St Augustine is not available in seed - only sod or plugs.
Yes the plugs will just end up filling up within time, a plug is pretty much ready to go really cuz everything you want is all there, meaning the plugs already have a root system and all they are missing is that ground and some water and they eventually just end up taking off like a track star, you should give it a try I mean you don't have to do a huge lawn but if anytime there is a lawn you can maybe mess around with try out plugs it's good stuff you will not be disappointed
+The Lawn Care Nut thanks for the info I live in the Pacific Northwest Washington state we tried to get rid of Saint Augustine grass and Bermuda grass mostly we have Kentucky bluegrass with a few other types of grass mix then it's cool to see The difference from area to area you're at one complete end of the map and I'm on the other side lot of subzero temperatures snow stuff like that that just will just a yard
Will that sod row even out, or will it always be a bit higher than the rest of the lawn since its wasn't leveled?
+yowmemperor It will even out as the dirt settles. Keep in mind that he has sandy soil that shifts fairly quickly.
did he put the sod row right on top of the killed grass without removing the dead vegetation etc?
where did you find the plugs? I'm in southern California and I can't seem to find a company that will ship them here
+Isaac Santana here you can get them from local nurseries or even Home Depot or Lowes
my question why did you go with plugs instead of sod?
+Shay “PoorBoy” Linton Bro you know me, if I go with sod I'll get criticized for doing the easy thing -- so I have to go hard in everything I do to keep up my reputation. :)
what the heck Allyn? I thought you were doing princess 77 in the front.
+MattFromWork that's on the other side of the lawn.
how tall do we mow st. Augustine? can it be striped?
+2002flstci 3.5" is good for St Augustine
+The Lawn Care Nut can it be striped? thanks for the reply.
you have a small yard my is 16000 square feet
Hey Alyn, do you use manure?
no, never have.
OK I gotta get me 40k subscribers so I can get me a free push sprayer hahaha
$1,500 on plugs??
LCN sounds more like a product plugger than a lawn-care guy.
Micromachines guy at the end there
First good morning
can't wait to see the outcome
I work overnights
I don’t work a day job! Ha!
Solutions Self Chem is a great place to get product. Started using them back when you first told us about them. They are extremely helpful.
Thanks Allyn

He should change his name to grass god lol
Allyn check your instagram I sent you a pic of my lawn from seed to grown
