brought tears to my eyes. beautiful song, beautiful band playing, tight, coherent, in tune with one another jazz. tivon's solo followed the energy and took it to the apex (and the band walked every step of the way there with him). thank you
All the comments seem to be about how great Tivon Pennicott is. Whilst this is undeniably true, did no-one notice the rest of the band? Some of the most outstanding young Jazz musicians in Greece.
And here was I, thinking that #AngusYoung's guitar solo in Thunderstruck, on a sax, required superhuman skill! Nuh! This Regressive Compulsive AnythingButDisordered solo makes Thunderstruck sound like Three Blind Mice! #TivonPennicott, you are a SAXUAL HERCULES! I'm calling you Saxules from now on. Man, if Athens had a Jazz Olympics, you'd be taking home 5 gold medals (at least one of them would be as part of the Next Step Quintet Team Event, of course :)). I am SO going to have to find a way to use live art to get you on a World Tour. If I was painting you doing this, live, it'd come out looking like a combination of Freud and De Kooning. And maybe a bit of Thunderstruck in there, too. But churning out a jazzterpiece at every show might just work out, if I had someone marketing it who had marketing skills resembling your improv ability. You know that's what I'd do, though; Try to use the live art to give something back, to the performers, for the quality of their art/generosity/courage. It might be a totally stupid idea, but I won't know until somebody gives it a go. Virtuosic performance, anyhow, and feel free to use my *Review* here. :) (Just attribute it to Sophie Downey of 'Saxoffender Time'. Like, swing it, dudes! Or..I dunno, any sort of Sax Magazine name you like. But not The Saxual Weekly. I don't do weak sax. Certainly not in reviewing a SAXULEAN EFFORT LIKE THAT. :))
