Man, this music is SO old and these guys play it close to how it was always played and it's SO hip. It's just awesome to see this piece of culture, not preserved, but living! What a joy. Tivon's solo is a dance, no ego, no profanity, just great music and joy.
This music ain't that old, it started in New Orleans about 100 years ago, that's only a lifetime or two ago. Seeing jazz open jam sessions in just about every city and town, musicians of all skill levels playing and enjoying the music tells me jazz is alive and well! The great standards never EVER get old I don't care what anyone says.
@@Zxx459 Agreed! 65 years old and they play it as if it was written yesterday. There's no need to infuse any hipness, no need to demonstrate that it's still a relevant song, they don't need to tell anyone that good music doesn't get old, they just play good music. ❤️
I love the way the sax player builds his solo. You can see him start to play something, then pull back out of sensitivity. He only plays when it’s right. And then at the right moment he’ll rip out some really crazy lines
That ending 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Everything from 13:00 Had me out of my chair. Well the entire thing did, but that was some shit I have never heard before. As a jazz player this is the reason why I still play!!
Emmet is the first worthwhile modern pianist I've yet to find. All the others are meh to me. All the greats have died. Emmet is here to take all their styles and combine them into one amazing playing style. The man can play anything. My favorite pianist rn
Now that's what I call jazz! Past, present and futurino. Cooler than the hottest or maybe hotter than the coolest simultaneously. Most fun to have with your jazz on, delightfully delicious definitely. Bravo.
25years ago, when I saw Rollins, in Vancouver. He looks like this band’s bassist. Cause he (Rollins)wearing denim hat and beard. 😄 That day, maybe 30min over,he play st Thomas. And today,Good sounds, and funky 👍😊✨ XQ from Tokyo (^^)/~~~
Emmet and his fellow musician associates he brings on this show must all be some old souls reincarnated souls of the masters..wheeew..so authentic...I love their respect for melody and form.
Really want to thank you Emmet ..... this is really music ..... best ever .....and you are inviting top musicians .... but what is unique is the atmosphere... it seems to be there !.... Bravo !!
I watched the video to hear Tivon, but Emmet!!! That was some next level...SHIT!!! How the fuche old are you? I'm speechless! You are a TRUE master. I enjoy your videos immensely!

I hear some Redman influence in Tivon. Especially in his shoulder movements. Awesome playing, guys!

everybody is wondering how the other side of that room looks like
They are Emmet's neighbours from upstairs.
