All The Tors: A Dartmoor Story

- Emily Woodhouse journeys across Dartmoor and through her life, as she tried to be the first person to visit all the tors on Dartmoor in one continuous circuit. The All the Tors Challenge took place in 2018: 119 tors, 10 days and 300km of walking solo and self-sufficient across the wilderness, fundraising for Dartmoor Rescue.
You can complete the route yourself over as many days as you like at allthetorschal...
“The one thing you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. The moment that you feel that just possibly you are walking down the street naked…that’s the moment you may be starting to get it right.” - Neil Gaiman
This film makes me feel vulnerable - more vulnerable than being a solo female walking and camping on Dartmoor! It’s a window into my life and into an expedition that I spent almost entirely alone - with the fog, the bog and a camera for company. At the high points I was living out a childhood dream. At the lows I was so sleep deprived and exhausted that I was hallucinating killer cows. But I want to share that all with you, because that’s the truth of expeditions. It’s not all hardcore, epic adventurer - although we might like to seem that way sometimes! So, I hope you enjoy the film and my little love story to Dartmoor. The All the Tors Challenge was a very personal journey and I hope I’ve managed to convey and explain that in the film.

No retreat, no surrender! Stupot Brown a total legend - I cried so much when Huc told me of his passing! Great video, everything I have achieved in my life has been because of Ten Tors. Sam (ex Ten Tors participant, Ten Tors Dartmoor Rescue and Ten Tors Scrutineer)
Thanks very much. It's incredible how many people's lives he changed for the better. Ten Tors did so very much for me too (as you can probably tell from the video! 😅). NRNS
Travelling Lines I probably did your kit check on the Friday...Stu always tried to get me to do the Plodders teams! 💚🙏
Unbelievable, I just stopped and chatted with you and you friend on the track between Standon Farm and White Barrow. There was a voice in the back of my head saying " yes, it's her, All The Tors", but I don't trust the voice. Lol. Only read the book a few weeks ago and gutted to have missed the chance to say how much I enjoyed it face to face. Great read and stirred many memories of my time doing TT and as a trainee with the Okehampton DRG. Well done on coming up with the challenge and then completing it. Inspiring stuff. I was the chap in the red coat complaining about his knackered legs having aborted my planned camp due to the appalling weather...as we chatted in the now sunny afternoon. 😂😂
Great and inspiring video. Didn’t know all the tor’s was a thing and now I’m tempted.
Just started reading the book. Its excellent and what an achievement. Keep finding myself saying, “yes, thats exactly what its like!” For example, clearly illustrated path on the OS map which doesn’t actually exist, but if your lucky you might just notice a slight change in the shade of green. On Dartmoor this can be like finding a major motorway!
Thanks for sharing.
This would make a great miniseries for TV. Great work.
That is so good! So good! Sat here in tears for you and your achievement. Sat here in tears wishing I was young enough to walk like that again. Dartmoor used to be my second home and your achievement is marvelous. Thank you!
You walked ALL the Tors of Dartmoor... You're not a Grockle Emily, you're one of us! From one Devonian to another.
It’s not all the tors there’s 160 of them and even more little tors. Cant be Devonian if born somewhere else so she is still a grockle but her achievement is still great. I have lived my entire life of the moors and was born there
Great video, wonderful book and a fantastic achievement. Love it all, and Dartmoor too. You're an inspiration and deserve a huge Well Done for a magnificent adventure!
This is just fantastic. Shared straight away with my Ten Tors Team - 15 years on we're still good friends. Even though we may not be Dartmoor based still we all still know #southwestisbest
Love the film, love Dartmoor. I arrived in Devon by accident with the moor on my doorstep, couldn't imagine living anywhere else now.
What a lovely video. Well done what an incredible effort
Truly brilliant, well done x
Amazing achievement, fair play!!
Brilliant well done what a trek... I'm just getting my kit together to start wild camping and hiking and found you whilst looking at utube re Dartmoor where I plan to start as soon as the lockdown lifts I'm am getting there ASAP to start a new chapter in my life something I should've done ages ago but never too late to start!
Likewise. I’m a regular runner and walker on Dartmoor but I’m just starting to get my kit together so that I can walk longer distances and do some wild camping. Can’t wait.
Well done young Lady,,very well done. Knowing myself what Dartmoor can throw at you, you deserve all credit. 👏👏👏

Awesome! 🙌🏻
This rocks! ...er, no pun intended ...but then I've noticed the pun and left it in ...and, in fact, drawn attention to it, which is even worse, in a way. Anyway, an absolutely legendary achievement!
Wow

I know the feeling :( this was just...no words to describe it. What a great woman and story
Superb x
Amazing! Thanks so much. I definitely have a love affair with Dartmoor. I’m Devonian born and bred but I haven’t explored it as bravely as you have, yet.
It's late, I've just finished your book and now watched your video. I am so grateful to you for doing all this. I just met Dartmoor this year and with a close friend, have smashed out about 90 miles so far, so I just about have some idea of what you are a part of. Check my review of your book on Amazon and you will see my own sighting of the mysterious Cow of the Moor, a picture taken months before I had found your book. What about a Woodhouse Tor?
Awesome hope i can do one third what u did................
Well done quite an achievement but really that’s not all the tors as there’s about 160 and much more to go. I’m born and bred Devon and have lived my entire life on Dartmoor. I probably completed most tors by I was 16.
That 30km a day for 10 days that is good going with a backpack carrying all your food.
GOT to carry those very long knifes. Well to be fair I was walking part the dorest costline once after a night out to get back to my activity centre i was working at and this person in a car followed me. They soon there headlights on me evey time I moved out the way. The 4th reajustment of the headlights to my possion gave reason to sprint across a field and head to a lower path which I new the person could not drive to. I new the paths off by hart and new manny places to ecapse to. But the creepy thing is the person was speeding up to the end of the path behind me where the path from town to country meet. headlights soon across the feild but not on me. I seen this in the far distance and sprinted as fast as I could across the nerest campsite where there was people. I ran back to the activity centre I was working at. I was safe. But dam, did the person think I was trying to steal something. on a dart track! or was this person someone that gives reason to carry a large knife. Who knows. Scary time. To be fair I was impressed how quck I soberd up and acted. .
