I'm early on my exploration of Dartmoor so have a lot to learn. There does seem to be a lot of things to learn. Thanks for watching. All the best, Roger
The video turned out well even though you had to use your phone...Great pitch for tent with excellent views...sorry you were knackered but many thanks for showing such beautiful landscapes..Best wishes
Video just fine, i'm still filming on a 25 year old plus digital pocket camera lol. Love to get down to Dartmoor one of the days, stunning scenery. Nice one 🙂
I was worried I wouldn't get a usable record of the trip - so it's good to hear that people think the quality is ok. Thanks for watching. Stay safe, Roger
Your videos are beautiful. You show us the location with great respect for the land and actually tell us what we are seeing. Your pace of story pace is my pace! I've read so many books set in Dartmoor that I've long wanted to go. Might not make it, but your videos take me pretty close. TY. Reviews as separate videos are fine, I think. Looking forward to Linda's return!
Thank you, very kind. I'm pretty much a beginner on Dartmoor myself, a lot to learn. Not sure when Linda will be back - she's a bit of a summer camper!
The chicken curry looked tasty. Considering no GoPro not a bad video, really enjoyed it. Looked an impressive night, love the shot of the moon! Idea is having two SD Cards, so you've always got one available somewhere. And I might be biased, but yes I think you should do a review :) Did you leave one of your sticks? Coming down you only had one?
That spot in the middle of Dartmoor was stunning Roger (Dartmoor at its best ) and you earned it mate with that hike in 🙌🙌 Revies are good for views they are kinda like the gift that keeps giving (if the kit is popular 👍) The phone did well to be honest it’s exactly the same or better than the go pro Nice chicken curry all good 🤠👍 Thanks for bringing us along enjoyed this one mate Regards Simon
Thanks Simon. Still on the fence about doing a review, we'll see. Starting to appreciate Dartmoor more each time I go down there. I need to practice with the phone. Cheers, Roger
Lovely video again! How do you find the atom packs with walking poles? Are they easy to access when walking or do you have to stop, take bag off and get them?
I'm pretty sure I couldn't get my poles out without taking the bag off - though to be honest I've never really tried. I tend to put them in the side pocket and inside the bungies, it might be possible if they would stay put without using the bungies - I'll have to test! Thanks for watching - and interesting question. ATB, Roger
Reviews are great. I’ve done 2 and they are my best performing videos. I should really do more but I’m no expert lol. Nice video despite the mishaps, great spot! 👌🏻
I would love to see a review on the x-mid. I Iike your videos because they are relatable (you're not a 20something covering 100miles a day and bungy jumping off waterfalls 😅)
@@thewanderingforester I'm doing a hike in the white mountains in New Hampshire in a couple of weeks. We're staying in the huts, I'm not game enough to camp in a tent in winter 🥶
@mandyrunonvegemite Can't say I blame you. I was out last night and it was freezing! We visited New England a few years ago and went up Mt Washington - but by car!
@@thewanderingforester I hiked Mt Washington last June, the weather was terrible and it was terrifying ( I understand how people get into a lot of trouble up there). I'm glad I did it but I don't think I would try again, turns out I'm scared of heights 😆
Must have been a bit nerve racking not sure of locations on a walk. Not my favourite part walking in boggy and. Let alone not having SD card in camera at start. At least your film gave results in the end albeit via mobile. p.s. I always wonder how wild campers transport all their camping gear, food and equipment on a walk?
We carry all our equipment in our backpacks. Of course that means that we are always looking for lighter equipment which packs small. And of course only taking what we need and no more. Unfortunately lighter generally means more expensive! Thanks for watching. All the best, Roger
Great job. Love your style ☕️😎🦘
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic adventure enjoyed this one ☝️
Thank you, I did really enjoy that one. Felt like I was way out on my own. ATB, Roger
I always feel great after watching your videos- it's a similar feeling to camping itself 👍
Thank-you, that's very kind.
Phone footage came out okay. Historic place Dartmoor. Best wishes out there.

It was tougher than I expected, Dartmoor certainly reminded me to respect it! Thanks for watching Andy. ATB, Roger
Scenery is very beautiful lace
Thank you for watching
It’s up to you what do but like you’re videos as they are
Thanks Steve.
Always enjoy your videos, this one was no exception, thanks for sharing ⛺️
Thanks Trudy. Despite all the moaning about it being tough I really enjoyed this trip. ATB, Roger
Looks good...i keep meaning to try filming on my phone
It really was a case of "point and shoot" - and hope! Thanks for watching

They do say the best camera is the one you already have. Thanks for watching. ATB, Roger
Great adventure, and the phone worked out fine. Thank you for sharing and take care 😊

Fatigue is annoying but It’s all part of the long slow process of growing old.
This is so true! I haven't lowered my sights yet - but I can feel it coming! 🤣🤣

Was thinking today I might have had a spare SD in my bag! And no did have two sticks, one in the side pocket of the bag
@@thewanderingforester phew, didn't want you losing another haha

What a peacefull location. Love your video. You can count me as a New subscriber. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦 !
Thanks for joining our little band! All the best, Roger
I see you did this one without momma, the video turned out fine on your phone no worries
Thanks. Linda probably won't be out again until the spring as she doesn't like the cold.
Reviews are great. I’ve done 2 and they are my best performing videos. I should really do more but I’m no expert lol. Nice video despite the mishaps, great spot! 👌🏻
Cheers buddy. My best performer is an X-Mid in the snow - approaching 11,000 which is about 10,500 more than normal - crazy. Thanks for watching

Noted! I'm hoping to one in the next couple of weeks - looks like it's going to really cold on the hills - I have my limits!
