I totally agree with you about the disparagement of Song of the South. I've just read the entire Joel Chandler Harris book the Song of the South and it depicted the beautiful relationship between a young white lad and an wise old black man full of wonderful stories. It shows how badly our culture has deteriorated that such good things are being cast aside.

    • @edmccray212
      @edmccray212 4 месяца назад

Joel Chandler Harris was an abolitionist and the boy in the stories is him. He was a red haired, freckle faced boy born out of wedlock in the deep south. His old friends were the slaves in the era where he heard the stories he later wrote down. No one else bothered to write them down and had Harris not done that these stories and history would be lost. The Uncle Remus stories were universally loved across America so naturally the woke despise them.

What all due respect the only problem with the movie was that it took place in a plantation do you really think people will be happy to see that that being said I know full well the movie isn't racist or anything like that but if Disney was willing to abandon this movie for years then something must have gone wrong

@@animezilla4486That's not the thing the woke bring up on it. There's nothing wrong with the movie. Actually worse happened in real life during reconstruction. It's a fact many blacks remained on plantations after slavery was over and worked them as freed men and women. I'm starting to agree with you on that.
I've always loved Disney, but their products recently have begun really taking the company in directions they shouldn't go (i.e. The 'Proud Family' reboot going from simply presenting/ touching on social issues to openly preaching hatred and division while claiming to care so much about "Diversity," the insulting of past Disney films as being somehow "Problematic," the near- constant pushing of LGBT themes, and the often quite nasty and belligerent responses to fan criticisms), and their financial decline is proving this. Their leadership structure needs to be completely rebuilt from the ground up, starting with replacing Iger (He was only supposed to be a temporary replacement after they fired that dullard Bob Chapek, to keep things together until someone more long- term could be found), and straight- up firing and blacklisting Kathleen Kennedy.
I believe this is the only way the company Walt built can be salvaged, and the sooner its shareholders and other with sway over the company realize this, the better.

Walt didn't care about anything in people other than TALENT! There are many people from the Davis' to X Atencio who both said that Walt saw that they could do something that they didn't think they could do themselves.. Walt wasn't a perfect man, but a great visionary man. The people running this company don't have a tenth of his vision and talent. That makes them jealous and mad. Iger is the worst thing to ever happen to the Disney Company in its 100 years. He deserves all the humiliation and derision and he should be gotten rid of and walk away in total shame. Of course he has his 100s of millions he took from the company in destroying it to keep him warm. He is still nothing more than a phenomenally rich weather reader.
But he is the pinnacle of the narcissistic personality and is incapable of feeling shame or culpability for anything.

In the summer of 1959 I visited Disneyland for the first time. Being eight years old that visit impacted me in ways that today most enlightened and sophisticated people would have a good laugh over. The last time I visited disneyland was when they had pulled the plug on Splash Mountain. At first I thought that there had been some sort of mechanical failure, that was until my cousin explained that the ride had been to controversial for the modern audience. Being an old Vietnam Vet my experience was, that life and death have no color it has no philosophy it has no gender it has no wealth and it has no ethnicity. While serving in the Military, a call went out for B-negtive blood there were only two men fit into that category, I was one the other was a different ethnicity, We both had a good laugh and became friends in short order. Over the years it has been my experience that there are a substantial number of people who have hitched their star (as my Father called it) to the cause du jour. The "acolyte" will inevitably become subservient to the cause, they hold on fiercely to it because it gives them a sense of worth. Waking up to fact that they might have made a mistake, is like kicking heroin due in part because the pusher is always watching.

even as a child, (50s/60s) i was never a fan of the Disney films. they just were not to my taste. the only one i saw in the cinema was "Swiss Family Robinson". (1960) i loved that! even so, Walt himself was someone who i respected as an iconic artist innovator and entrepreneur. my interest in you channel has been more about your insightful sometimes prescient exchanges with your varied guests about the political/cultural/economic aspects of Disney corporation, and how that is affecting its contemporary artistic output vs. its classic films.
but being a follower of your channel, and this interview specifically has piqued my interest in giving the classic Disney films themselves a look. having this insight into the father of these artistic works adds a depth that is valuable to long time viewers and first time viewers as well. thank you WDW Pro.

He was a proud American who served his country, fought communism in congress, created a Family place for ALL to enjoy , was NOT a racist, and yes I believe he was a Christian man with a strong Faith in God , no matter how he chose to worship . I’m thankful that they still have the Walt Disney attraction over in Hollywood Studios , hopefully they never get rid of that . Since I was on this video and the At the Mic shows, I've gathered even more evidence to back up this material. After this show I was contacted by a few former Disneyland employees who told me details about the Disneyland Christian Society. More than one told me there was a time every inch of that park was prayed over by employees every morning and one told me that sometimes when Walt stayed overnight in his firehouse apartment he's drop by the prayer meeting in the back and participate before he went to Aunt Jemima's for breakfast. I have hard copies of most of his faith essays and have recreated them in his voice with AI. I've also obtained 2 of Jimmie Dodd's Christian LP's and will be making them available on the Rumble page. Just today I received a copy of the early draft for Snow White and there was A LOT of prayer in this early draft. She prayed before the Huntsman tried to kill her (in this version it was her faith and innocence that caused him to spare her life.) she taught the dwarfs to pray over their food in an early version of the soup sequence and there was even a devotions scene. (This version adheres more to the Brother Grimm plot where the Queen tries to kill Snow White 3 times so she spends several days living with the Dwarfs.) These were Walt Disney's values or they would have never been considered for the film. BTW, the version of Snow White we know is NOT the version released in 1937. Walt tweaked it for the 1944 reissue and that's the version we know today.

I totally agree with you. Walt wanted to create a park where people could bring their kids, that was clean and safe and he also created a fantasy world promoting his work. The people now running it are tearing down what he built and creating a Universal style theme park by throwing in Marvel and Star Wars to compete with Universal. Walt had a themed park - Fantasy, Adventure, Tomorrow Land, Liberty and Frontier. Now they want to tear down Frontier to make it Louisiana to update it. The Princess and The Frog was not that popular. I don't think Walt would have approved of long waits, the DAS nonsense and the violence as well as the waste of money in projects that don't even get finished. The park doesn't stand up to his standards. He was anal about how his park looked. The Disney Parks are losing their Disney vibe. It is sad to see.

It’s important to realize that, Walt was not at ALL a perfect man. He was a visionary, a caring father, but also wasn’t inherently the ONLY role model at the studio
Creatively, it was his way or the highway, compared to places like Walter Lantz’s studio or the Warner Brothers lot where many creative minds could take charge.
He was very much against Unionizing in the 1940’s after they moved from the Hyperion lot in 1939, and sometimes ignored the animation department in those later years to focus on DisneyLand and his live action endeavors.
Additionally, the Disney studio inevitably HAD to carve a new path after Walt’s passing, because all through the 1970’s into the 80’s, they were still relying on the notion of “what would Walt do?”, when Walt wasn’t at the forefront anymore. They were doing pretty terrible in the film department during that time, the only real saving grace being that Walt Disney World made it out of production hell following Disney’s passing in 66’.
If new leadership kept relying on Walt alone, we never would have gotten Epcot, Animal Kingdom, any of the 1990’s Disney renascence films, because all of those films took risks and broke away from what Disney was known for.
Things only went south when someone more focused on monetary gain and growth over creative ingenuity came into the picture.
Diversity and stories with more social undertones has always been in Disney’s DNA, it’s only because Iger is such a horrible leader that these films and new projects are lambasted, and for good reason.
The new films don’t land because they don’t have an edge to them, or a compelling engaging narrative, not because there’s a LGBTQ character included, that harms nothing.
And on the theme park side, Disney just needs to realize that Universal is putting up a fight, and they need to rise to the challenge. Because right now? Super Mario and Harry Potter are far better of an investment than the poultry offering Disney’s been putting into the theme parks (Pandora not withstanding)
This isn’t about Disney being “WOKE” or “stupid”, this is about Disney being run by people who are investing far too much into streaming services and short term gains from buyouts rather than reinvesting money back into the theme parks and animated films that made them so special in the first place.

No one said Walt was perfect but everything filtered through him and reflected his values. Walt and other studios reflected American values. Today studios try to indoctrinate the virtues they believe to be positive. This shift started in the 90's when Thomas Schumacher gloated he would sway the morality of generations through the content of the films. Adhering to Walt's values and principles is NOT the same as "What Would Walt Do" When Roy Jr was alive he stepped in on that many times and even shut down a few animated features that crossed that line. The films today are indeed woke and this is why the audience rejects them. No one wants to be forced to discuss sexually inappropriate things with their toddlers because Woke Disney inserted it into a film. Woke Disney is also purging their library with Stories Matter and erasing their heritage. The other studios are not doing this.

You know, at this point, I am actually rather surprised that La Cosa Wokestra haven't yet gone after the song and ride It's A Small World yet, claiming "cultural appropriation" ... whatever the Hell Bullsh@t that even means. Which is usually just another example of complete hypocrisy on their part most of the time.

Shame on Disney's descendants for dishonoring Walt's name!😡 If I were Walt's granddaughter, I would've stayed true to Walt's beliefs and sided with Peltz, not Iger!
