I work in tech, and yesterday I noticed I was the only straight white guy out of a group of ~12. Everyone is either female or Indian. The other white guy was gay. I’ll concede America is half female, but 70% Indian and 50% gay? Why am I still at the back of the line to get a job? Besides racism.

Crazy right? I believe its the "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" scenario in this case. As they pointed out in this episode, the agenda is political, dressed as religious. If they were to achieve the ultimate goal of eradicating their political foes, they would turn on each other in a heartbeat.

The FTC needs to notify all stock traders that Disney is knowingly and blatantly violating state and federal law and must be held accountable in courts of law. They must warn the shareholders that continuing to hold Disney stock is going to make the value of their portfolios worth less if not worthless.

Remember the report from a Disney insider that the company put out a bulletin to employees about how to speak respectfully and admiringly to Muslim coworkers during their faith's religious season? Seems part and parcel of the agenda behind these film grants. How many non-Muslim employees would have even known it was the faith's special period to comment on it at all unless the memo had informed them? Disney was it seems to me, effectively trying to create conflict, not harmony with that company announcement. I now have my doubts they really cared about Muslims' feelings or faith. Rather, under cover of kindness and tolerance, it could have been meant to provoke some internal conflict they could then have exploited to get rid of any "problematic" (by which I mean "good") people at Disney while virtue signaling at the same time. Divide and conquer. So jaw dropping that lessons learned less than a century ago have been....I can't say forgotten. Suppressed is more like it. It’s very telling how undiverse, diversity policies really are.
Depends on how it is implemented. If it is just to give some (moderate) people the same opportunities as you give everyone else (like free script writing labs in high schools), it works, because it ACTUALLY adds value to the industry and the creative community. When you place radical elements of a community on a pedestal and then are surprised that that your company or industry is collapsing because they are trying to flush every single person who they consider to be a political rival out of it, that's on you.
Also, it's not the fact that some people are getting preferential treatment (since that is what Hollywood has ALWAYS BEEN) that is pissing people off, it's the fact that it is somehow framed as just "doing a good thing" by an industry KNOWN for its abuse and exploitation of people it could use.

Another interesting question: since 200 productions is a significant amount media output, and the US only makes about 800-900 movies a year, that would represent a very large chunk in both the film and TV sphere. Question: Considering the sheer amount of entities the mother company ACTUALLLY owns, you can also be reasonably sure that these programs also influences a fair number of the American media landscape just in GENERAL - but how extensive is this specific program in all of those programming, and how far does it extend into the contractors and collaborations that the mother company has with other studios and/or production companies?
It's actually pretty hilarious this black tar level of irony considering Disney's stances regarding a certain three letter word.

While I loath Disney, they are a private company providing a grant. This happens all the time. There are thousands of grants like this that give monies for very specific qualifications. This isn't a public college, government grant, etc. Also, you guys need to be careful as this is making you look bad by trying to find any fault with Disney. It is a questionable PR look for Disney, but it also isn't a good look for you.

Ok, Pro. This is the first time I think I have EVER disagreed with you, though it is in regards to a description. Gen X is WELL KNOWN for being BASED as… (insert description that starts with “eff”), and while I realize my personal experience is anecdotal rather than solid proof, I know that businesses operated & functioned in a way most people expected, striving for quality & promoting traditional values. It is only when Millennials entered the workforce that you began to see the HR conference topics about no one wanting to hire millennials & how to “employ” them (about 2016-ish, so judge as you will).
The consensus at these conferences was that you must hire them, then just leave them alone to do “their own thing”, trusting that whatever they gave you would not only exceed expectations, but be “EVEN BETTER” than what you thought you knew you wanted.
I think there was a case to be made for this with respect to technology, however, I think we are seeing the effects of this strategy having been applied in the country to devastating effect. Aside from record inflation, manufacturing that hadn’t exited the country before 2016 is now on life support because of poor national leadership during and after the pandemic, California’s new fast food minimum wage has PHYSICALLY hurt the stock of McDonalds & other similar companies (as has the Seattle delivery driver minimum wage) & forced a reshaping of the economy & industry as a whole, and similar policies have caused ballooning medical costs, and crashed entertainment industries like media companies (of which, Disney is one) & video game devs. Something will either have to change if the industry is to survive: they must either change their company position in the products they release to be either more middle ground or (preferably) entirely anti-political, or they will have to be subsidized by the government, and essentially become the propaganda department of the current political party in power, neither of which implies that the industry is likely to prosper, only survive on life support.
What needs to happen is what will ALWAYS happen: an organization will become too big, they will inevitably make some mistake, & lose customer support. Could be failure to update their business model (Blockbuster), or it could be failure to make a product customers want (signs of a business in trouble are continually rising prices with decreasing quality & consumer unhappiness. That consumer unhappiness is what they work so hard to hide, trying to convince you that it’s just YOU, rather than EVERYONE. I’d further posit that if they are continually telling shareholders everything is rainbows & unicorn farts, that would be further indication that it is NOT)
Anyway, I stray from the main point: for the most part, NOT GEN X.

It's called gaslighting. Disney wants to scam you out of your money. They are very hypocritical. They will tell you anything you want to hear to get you in the door... or in this place to get your Disney+ subscription.
