    I'm encouraged by most of the leaks and official disclosures about the expansion. I'll never be able to look at the Rivers of America without waxing nostalgic about how it used to be but that said, I'm excited about the next chapter and I have a feeling when it is all said and done, it will look amazing. That said, assuming MiceChat's drawing is completely accurate, a crowd-capacity path going between the Hungry Bear and Rivers of America is going to take away a LOT of what I love about Hungry Bear. The zen of that place is sitting at the water's edge, feeding the ducks, watching the Mark Twain go by, forgetting the world for a moment. I'm glad Disney has officially stated that Hungry Bear is to remain intact but I wish the path went behind the Hungry Bear not at water's edge. In fact, now that we're breaking the entire "beyond the berm" concept, let's commit to it fully and put the path along the outside of the train tracks. Again, we'll get used to it eventually and that terminus has always caused traffic problems in New Orleans Square so walking traffic will congest a lot less this way. Based on the concept art officially released by Disney, I can say with confidence that the dark brown sections indicate rock formations with waterfalls. As for the trees facing Disneyland Drive, I don't think that's accurate. I agree with you completely, Dave, that the backstage outward-facing side of Radiator Springs is a crime. (I've always thought they should solve that by simply putting another facade on the other side along with DCA signage.) If you look on Disney's official maps, they take a lot of artistic license and draw many bordering trees that aren't really there. In actuality, they are backstage buildings and service roads. Surely they will need those resources to operate the expansion so the idea of trees right up to the edge seems logistically impossible or at least highly improbable. Rumor on the future expansion is that at some point as of yet not announced STAR TOURS will move from its present location in Tomorrowland along with other STAR WARS themed areas. Tomorrowland is on the drawing board for a MAJOR revamp but my understanding is it is years away, well after the STAR WARS expansion opens.

      We shouldn't be feeding people food to the ducks, anyway, haha!
      Perhaps they will compromise with what is shown with about a 20 foot thickness of trees.....that may be feasible.

    I think the dark brown is showing us where the decor of rocks will be. It follows the train path and it would make sense for you to walk through a tunnel to be transported to another land.

    Am I the only one that thinks Toon town needs a huge upgrade?, it almost feels like Disney is looking at it like the black sheep of his lands, It needs another E ticket atraction, and i dont see a reason to get rid of it, a town where all your favorite cartoons live has so much potential then just an E ticket ride and a few decorative buildings.

    I know this is something that is pure speculation on my part but I would love it if they worked on the TSI, the rock work and river front first. Then the DLRR and ROA could reopen early. The rock work would hide the construction.

  • @BrettJeffries
    @BrettJeffries 8 лет назад

    I'm wondering about that run of the train from the Big Thunder Trail to Toontown. That's a pretty long stretch that's longer than the existing tunnel near there. At the least, that run could have the feel of a utility corridor, a simple tunnel, or a nature walk. On the other hand, it could present like the Grand Canyon / Primeval World, Superspeed Tunnel, or the World of Tron.

  • @AlexTheRailroader
    @AlexTheRailroader 8 лет назад

    That's not a tunnel, thats rockwork that helps disguise both the Disneyland railroad and the backstages of Star Wars Land. Think of it like the entrance to Carsland from Pacific Wharf, the mountain acts as a visual barrier so that when you go through the tunnel its a big reveal.

    Great breakdown of these images, Dave! It's interesting that it's such a large land with only two rides (currently). I feel like they learned from Cars Land, where one great flagship ride is enough to anchor a land. Meanwhile the other rides in Cars Land feel a little pointless (or worse, like Luigi's), so they just trimmed the fat for Star Wars Land. Hopefully there will be a lot of "immersive" environments to explore outside of the actual attractions.

  • @noahfrederick6185

    If Disney wanted to add more expansions, what would they do about space? They took a lot of space over near Adventure land, and there isn't much space in between Fantasyland, Star Wars land, and Toon Town. Maybe by Critter Country?

    Feeling so positive about Star Wars Land now. I was angry when they first announced they'd be building it in Disneyland and shortening the Rivers, but now seeing as the "damage" will be minimal and how much effort seems to be going into separating SWL from the rest of the park, I'm down. Bring on Star Wars Land.

  • @Sedlan18
    @Sedlan18 8 лет назад +2

    Also, arent they gonna move Star tours to the star wars land?, cause it wont make sense to have a ride based on star wars in a place that goes whit the theme of the future now that there will be an entire Star Wars theme land

    • @ninarchiveinactive
      @ninarchiveinactive 8 лет назад

      I'm guessing they will just get rid of Star Tours altogether. There's really no reason to move an entire attraction to another land. Plus you're kind of in a Star Wars land already, so it defeats the purpose of the ride.

  • @rachellebeaney9990
    @rachellebeaney9990 8 лет назад +1

    I like that that it looks like the land will be well cordoned off from everything else in the park. I understand that Star Wars land had to come to Disneyland (it was really the only park with space for it) and I'm HUGELY excited for it, but I was worried how it would fit with the rest of the park and the more vague and generic themes of the other lands and whether or not it would fit with Frontierland rather than Tomorrowland (so am wondering what will happen to Star Tours, which will be weirdly located a long way from the rest of the Star Wars attractions). But it looks hidden and like you said, like it could almost be a third gate (without the third gate)...And I guess the original idea of Star Wars as a 'space Western' means that it could be an interesting lead up going in through Frontierland and Critter Country - Thanks for sharing! :)

    • @jorgemiguel1040

    I was browsing through "future roller coaster" images on Google and found a picture of a plan for a dueling indoor TIE-Fighter and X-Wing roller coaster! Clicked on it and it was a patent filed. Don't know much more, but the building was a similar shape to that of the one shown in plans. Doesn't say WDW nor Disneyland, or even the manufacturer. However, judging by the past of Disney attractions, it is a Vekoma or Intamin.

    Great video/commentary!

  • @kentslocum
    @kentslocum 3 года назад

    Now that Galaxy's Edge has been built, it is interesting to look back and reflect upon this video. Although a lot of this concept art speculation/commentary/observation turned out to be true, many things did not come to pass--at least not in the ways this video expected. It is both hilarious and sad in retrospect to think that a roller coaster might have been built in what is actually Rise of the Resistance. I was surprised that the block of buildings where Oga's Cantina is currently located is listed as the "pre-show and queue" for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run. Not only is the queue and pre-show for that attraction housed in the same building as the attraction itself, but the size of the building for Oga's Cantina is much, much smaller than originally conceived, since the plans for the sit-down table service dinner theatre restaurant were unfulfilled. Ironically, the extra backstage space actually became an extended queue for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, so I guess the image was partly correct. And David's desperate hopes that the backside of Galaxy's Edge would be invisible from outside the park were partially respected: the spires are very visible, but the buildings look like nice warehouses, not ugly steel frames. So a win, I guess.

    • @tixximmi1
      @tixximmi1 6 лет назад

      If you would go there, you just may like it. I like the fact that it's large enough to roam and get away from the crowds everywhere else. There are some cool places on it, especially for kids. It's not large enough for a single attraction but large enough to lose yourself.

  • @danielhaney1071

    Dave, I think Star Wars Land impresses me because of its size. Now, at the beginning I think Star Wars Land would ruin the magic of Disneyland that Walt himself created because for the fact that is, star wars was a different brand made at different studio instead of at the Disney studios, but at the sametime as longs they don't take out any of the attractions in Disneyland I'm all good with that and so I'm excited about star wars land if that makes sence to you!

      Launch bay is only temporary for Season of the Force, to hype up Star Wars land. Star Tours, however, is up in the air right now. Possibly they could move it to that "Future Expansion" area on the map? Others are saying they will retheme it to a different simulator, possibly like the Iron Man experience in Hong Kong (I think). I assume the green path is the new path for the train tracks and I see a future problem with this, Historically every time Disney had made any changes to the train its led to big problems this is due to them being very old and "accustomed" to no changes, meaning for decades the train track path has always been just wide sweeping turns always to the right only now they have rather sharper turns both left and right which will put more stress on the train parts than they have ever ever been exposed to ill be very surprised if there wont be problems or breakdowns due to this.

    So does all this apply to the WDW Star Wars land coming to Hollywood Studios? Does anyone know if the Disneyland and Disney World Star Wars lands are going to be identical or kind of different from each other?

      +Daniel Mota I would think they would do like they did near IASW, a path that goes under the track.

      +DisneyFan421 JC It may actually re-open. They are moving the Fantasmic stuff to the other side of the river, so they do not need the fort. I hope they do open it.
