    The exit ramp might be vulnerable, if you didn't bury any wire under it. The corners of the building, also, unless you extended out the 2' on the front and back. I really like your way of dealing with diggers. Where we live, we have foxes, raccoons, coyotes, skunks, you name it. Your chickens are going to be safe! I like the look of your chicken house -- very clean and neat. You two are doing an amazing job of building a homestead. You are an inspiration to those of us who are "not young" that this can be possible, even as we grow older. God bless you.

    • @nunyabizness3890
      @nunyabizness3890 4 года назад

      I watched your Chicken Setup #9, and saw how you made and installed the exit ramp. If you didn't put the wire mesh under that, maybe a fox or coon *could* dig underneath. Maybe just lifting up the ramp and then driving a few pieces of rebar into the ground, under the ramp and in the corners, would harden up those gaps. You did a great job with the post & wire method, and I can't wait to see everything up and running (especially the quail)! I'm just thinking like a fox, LOL.

      I used reclaimed broken concrete pieces lining the inside and outside of chicken wire over chainlink, but would prefer the solid concrete footer. We've had it for several years and now it's probably time to pour post hole cement into the gaps to seal it better.

    I sure wish I had thought of burying wire fencing around, and a layer of it underneath, my shed before I placed it. There's been a huge groundhog living under it for years. I was surprised to see the fencing attached to logs; won't that become a termite haven? I'll bet it's treated wood, but will that stop termites? I sure hope so. Great idea, great job. Your future chickens will be living in chicken Shangri-La. Protected and pampered. Can't wait to see!

Maybe run hot wire along the bottom of fenced garden to keep bunnies n critters out of garden also. My dog is a bigger version of Bing Bing n color. He also follows me about when I am using the stick vacuum trying to protect me.. Great work Hollis !! Peace to you and yours
