Jon Lloyd, the keyboardist, was a founding member in 1968, BUT I am absolutely certain In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, by Iron Butterfly '68, was a HUGH influence on Jon & Deep Purple. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was a significant song for it's place in history, psychedelic and prog-rock movement. The organ was front and center and could have been done very well by either the Doors or Deep Purple. I purchased this album when it first came out & discover it took up one whole side: 17 minutes!

This is one of the best recorded albums in history, IMO. The separation is incredible and yet there is SO much going on. It’s crisp but not dry, punchy but not abrasive, warm but not weak. And that doesn’t even get into the music, which is for sure my favorite of DP and I think most would say is their best. It’s a trip from top to bottom, almost literally. It’s full of great road music including the legendary Highway Star and of course Smoke on the Water. But my favorite is Lazy, which is about 7 minutes long and is 5 minutes of solo instrumentals to start. All timer. Everybody could play and sing their nuts off.

I saw Ritchie Blackmore, Lead guitarist, and lead vocalist, for Deep Purple. Back in 1981 with Richie, Blackmore and rainbow. His warm-up band was Def Leppard. At the end of the show, he did an encore of all Deep Purple stuff and space Truckin woman from Tokyo and smoke on the water were the songs he did.

Oh dear...I searched your channel and see that you haven't yet done Deep Purple - Child in Time (live recording). Seriously kids...this is a MUST view (and watch the live version first - I normally prefer watching studio versions first to get how the artist intended for the music to be heard, but this video is MUST SEE LIVE). If you've been impressed by Deep Purple to date this video is going to blow your mind!!!

My favorite Deep Purple song starts off with John Lord on his Hammond C3 organ which is amplified through a Marshall Stax amplifier, to the point that many identify it as a heavy metal guitar, but it's J. Lord's keyboards. Ian Gilliam screams his vocals out and Ian Paice is brilliant on drums. Two other great Paice drum solos include Burn and Speed King.

Got into this band once I heard "Hush". This entire album is a classic.I always loved the organ in this band. Sir John Lord passed away sadly, but was Knighted by the Queen

So glad you got back to Deep Purple, they were and are my favorite live band with the great Ian Gillan on vocals and Ian Paice on drums, whom I believe is the best drummer of all time and he plays left handed on a right handed drum set. There is no one in this group that isn't at the top of their instruments. I also would like to remind you that you were going to do more Survivor, try Burning Bridges please

You guys should just do every song from this album. They all rock. Ian Paice the drummer is a great rock drummer that has blues and jazz influences. I love when you guys really get into these tunes, especially Amber who really appreciates the 70’s vibe. There are still so many groups and songs I wish you would get too because I’m sure you would like them. Go back and check out the recommendations I’ve given including the emails I sent with a ton of songs if by chance you kept them. I would be happy to send them again.

Definitely one of their most iconic riffs!! Love the interplay Blackmore’s guitar & Lord’s organ….plus there’s no voice like Ian Gillan with his shredding voice….try “Knocking at your Back Door” & “Perfect Strangers”….for further reactions also try “Woman From Tokyo” 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

In early 1972, I saw Deep Purple who were touring the Fireball album and were adding songs from Machinehead before it was released, so I heard this song live before I heard the album. Mind blown when Gillan sang the "yeah, yeah, yeah, space truckin' "at the end. Thanks for bringing me back a few years and making me smile. And now, you are challenged to react to The Warning, Hell You Call A Dream live at CDMX. You have been Warned!

The whole band is just cookin’ on this song! You mentioned the guitars but, and maybe someone else mentioned it, a big part of Deep Purple’s heavy sound actually comes from the late Jon Lord plugging his Hammond organ into a Marshall amplifier that was originally designed for use with guitars!

Top 5 drummer Ian Paice. Way ahead of his time. The intro to the track Fireball of the same name record is beyond words. Top 5 band in my opinion. I was lucky enough to see them live, past their prime, but still great back in 1985 in Florida. Fantastic, will never forget.

I was just scanning through some Deep Purple and ran across this song live from NY in 1973 and thought I would let you guys know. I hadn't seen it before and it is incredible. It has Ian absolutely wailing that great voice of his. Jon is playing 2 or 3 keyboards at the same time and Ian Paice is killing it on the drums. If you guys really like the song, I think you will love watching this live version.
