I've always wondered how high is Red's action. I just love how JD makes such strong bendings ala 'Bloomfield' and use his coricidin bottle in that powerful way like Duane Allman used to do. Best guitar player of the moment, period.
JD always sounds like JD, no matter what he's playing amp-wise. The cab is a little more "even", for lack of a better description, than say... a 1960 model with 25's in it. The old 30's are not so mid focused, they have more top and bottom; where the 25's are more compressed and mid focused. I've always been in the "tone is in the hands" camp. I the sound is in your head, and you learn to make that sound with your hands... a great guitar and amp don't hurt though! Thanks again!
Hey Rosy Mac, great vid. I'd go watch JD do a Cream tribute no doubt. That..is..Clapton, and Clapton at his best! Very sweet. Also made me think about Eric Johnson's sweetness. Must be the Clapton influence there too. So...the elements then that allow JD to get that sound? Dynamic, not saturated, clear, tuneful and sustaining. I've seen sooo many vids with guys using vintage style heads, with what sounds like an overly compressed and saturated sound (wooly).
God this cat is amazing!!! Sounds just like a live Cream bootleg. Jd can do it all, and thanks to youtube we can all appreciate this talent. I'm a die hard blues rock fan, but this dude has just inspired to pick up some country guitar as well. The only problem is I don't know where to start haha! Thanks for posting this amp demo. Is he still playing with Don Kelly?
Ran out of text... 1 Obviously great Clapton-state-of-mind and hands to do its bidding. 2 The 335 seems to have the tone for this. I've seen some of JDs other vids, this is THE tone. 3 Obviously great amp. 4 Cab. How does it compare to other cabs to get this sound? Any comments? Would you say that the besides hands, the guitar is the dominant factor here?
JD's playing is just phenomenal and the tone is to die for..
Best guitar player and best tone out there!!!!!
JD Simo is the only person in the planet capable of re-creating the best Clapton's tone ever! From Cream of course!
I cant stop watching this! The tone is just amazing.
That tone is insane. Marvelous.

Ernesto Cebrián I played red a few days ago and all I can tell... its quite a low action
Probably my favourite amp video on RUclips. So damn good.
When Clapton exited Cream his guitar spirit took possession of J.D. Simo's body.
I want to use that quote for facebook that is awesome!
+Nathan Adkins Use it brother.:)
JD is a true god!
Love the splashy spitty sound of those KT-66s. Man that JD Simo can play.
Dam JD is killing it here! The snare drums just add too the vibe.
I forgot to turn off the snares again... that's the rattling in the background... sorry!
Roosevelt, is that amp a limited edition ? have a chance to buy one.
Your drums are vibrating. Awesome!
Rockin'! JD's gettin' is Clapton on. Amp sounds great.

Very nice indeed. Made me want a 335!
Thanks man, very kind words. One thing that helps the sound "hang together" is that JD rarely, if ever, goes above 7 or so on the guitar's volume.
0 dislikes and you're damn skippy, that tone is just s-i-c-k... about as Cream/Clapton-esque as it gets. Major kudos (and jealousy), thumbs up dawg!
WHAT A TONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Germino's are great! Your Guitar Center in Nashville carry them too. Thats where I got mine on vacation last year. Go try one out!
Thanks, the standard one is $3,250 and shipping.
clapton is the man
Great tone
Great tone man.
Thanks Groove!

Simo is God. :)
Hi I would like to know what's the price of that amp.Sounds great!!!!
That solo at 4 minutes, what song is that from? It's bugging me. Can't figure it out
I feel Free
Can anyone say Live Cream Vol. 1
They're 70 watt amps... so the volume is a little louder than a 50 and a little less than a 100 watt Marshall.
How loud is this amp?
