@@kevindean1327 Imagine how awesome it would be if a POTUS one day just broke out their guitar at a state of the union address and floored every player in the country.
Holy Cow! I was looking for videos on the echoplex EP-3 and discovered this amazing player! His Scotty Moore licks are the best I have ever heard anyone play. Great amp + best echo box ever + great player = epic!
What a treat, some of the sweetest gear on the planet being played by JD! ..He's just simply a beast of a guitar player! No other way to explain it. You made my day George haha.
First off, JD Simo is an awesomely talented and gifted guitarist, and electric guitar 'Gear Head'. How in the fuck is it that there are ANY 'thumbs-down' on this video? I just don't get it? WTF!!!
Hail hail rocknroll ! jd is sooo cool... did yall catch how high the moon....too cool Fender bassman the original dual rectifier and real tape delay ,tone to die for There should be a SuperLike button
In my dreams I can play just like him.....In reality I'm building a fire in my back yard getting ready to burn my guitars and amps :) JD is an INSANE PLAYER....
Hooo-Leeee Crap George!! I just ran across JD Simo for the first time on a grainy video with Ed King from 2014 and could tell he was good....then I saw this video - he is monster good channeling Jimmy, Les, and Keef among others....Hoooo-Leeee crap, in Burton no less!!! I too am just a guitar custodian at this point :) I dunno if you remember me, you lent me your 50w Plexi for around a month many years ago just after I left Shand Electronics. Great to see ya doing very well :-D Dan Gibbs
Hi Dan! That must be 20+ years ago! Hope you're doing great. There are a few players I've stood next to that have changed my perspective of guitar playing. JD is one of them. When you witness absolute mastery of the instrument it puts things into perspective. Sadly, in my case. LOL The guitar is still my master, not vice versa.
+John Gillispie still gonna have to disagree with you there... JD's playing is a lot more creative and versatile and while Joe is incredible as well JD literally has edged him out in every video I've seen, even the ones of them playing together. In my opinion there's no question that JD Simo is a superior guitarist.
+John Gillispie I haven't really heard much of bonamassa. Can he get as versatile as simo? If so, can you recommend a good video? Simo seems to be able to pull off any genre and with entertaining, never-boring flavor.
Does the Bassman have the 250pf/.10/.02 tone stack and the 6.8k resistor in the input of the phase inverter? I'm working on a 5F6A project and I hear there were a few variations from the schematic in the production amps.
Is he playing some Plebeian Grandstans riffs or Deathspell Omega at 4:15? Didnt expect some black metal in this video. Crazy beautiful sound and playing.
No, you're right. When he was in Don Kelly's band he didn't have time to teach himself the more "conventional" method of chicken picking, so he improvised and learned how to replicate the chicken picking sound by purely flatpicking (which to me is even more impressive).
Actually he does. Many of the early inventors of the style didn't play using the modern pick and fingers method. Instead they used a pick and palm muting to get the clucking sound.
The right echo can push you to play at its speed. You did a fantastic job meeting its challenge, JD. Really impressed.
Hell yeah! I'll take JD's playing over Joe B's ANYDAY of the week! Rock on JD!
les paul I can’t tell you how much of a relief it is not to be alone on this 🤦🏼♂️😝 lol
Indeed indeed
Joe who?

I've never heard anyone play so much like Les Paul himself! Most who try fall flat on their faces, but JD just about nailed it! That was fantastic!
That was rediculously good.i am so happy i found this guy.his playing is so inspiring...the jimmy page nod was hilarious as well.....lol
This effect helped Eddie get his signature tone. It is a huge part of the brown sound on the first 4 albums
Tone is in the scarf!
JD can play any style of music he wants.. truly amazing guitar player!
Fantastic---killer chops but very musical, sounded amazing!
Wow! Inspiring improvisational playing! Cheers JD!
I really like this guy and am glad he has a channel.
Cool maybe one day mr.Simo will have a signature amp. I really like J.D :) awesome player and the amp too.
If I have anything to say about it he will.
The Les Paul style playing was awesome and sounded awesome too
Gil Yaron has nailed the essence of these things.
I agree. But the one I tried did not sound anything like this! 😉
Was it the Bone model? The ‘59 clone?
@@folkestonehorror2723I'll admit, the difference was probably due to my lack of skill.
@@paulbcoteaw don’t be hard on yourself. Thanks for sharing & happy trails. Very special guitars!
Awesome playing Awesome sounding amp 👍
JD why did you have to show us this. That's just mental. Your so cool, buddy! Happy Friday!

Nice!!!! I saw a 59 replica WIP thread that Gil posted, He is truly a mad scientist of the guitar world!!!!!

That's an EP-3 , Wow nice playing ! Love how you came in sound on sound , magical timing ......
Excellent playing. I wish I could pick like that.

Why does that bother anyone. There are cretins out there that will steal candy from kids.
@@artysanmobile Thanks, Cheers!
The Page imitation is hysterical!
I need to practice more, great video!
That tone... damn! Can't be beat.
Monster guitar player alert!
Beautiful sound Amazing Playing
Those licks are superb.
I think all of those Les Paul isms are great! Les himself loved playing with echo.
Great sounds and amps !!
Hail hail rocknroll !

Killer sound and playing.
damn. I love seeing a great player get a bit fired up
Bloody fantastic....
Bravo!
Svaka čast Simo!
It's hard to beat the sound of an old "Phillips" at work in the Page section of the video!
came for the review, stayed for the brilhant guitar playing
The Freddy Krueger of hard rockabilly.
I wish I can pop the volume up this much without neighbors asking
I never picked up that "Brown Sugar" had a slap on it.
Love ya JD!!! You rock bro!!!!!!
JD you crack me up brother.....
JD youre a legend man !!!
Yeah men..! Give it all you've got very Nice chords and funny
2:45 Asshton Park influence? Definite James Gang shit going on...
JD make all that twang bearable :)
chester and lester would be proud..... good video
Great tone.....great player
That guitar ain't hurting nothin...
@ 8.34 Les Paul's licks from "How High the Moon" ?
What a great player.
dat boy can play!
can I get the tab to this?
I like it it look's like my Greco EG59-70. This Yaron bust sounds killer....
The best video on youtube
Damn JD how do u know to do all those later Jimmy things??!!!! Wow!!!!!!!
Yayyyyy,,,,I own a guitar too!!!!!!
the 13 who disliked this were former inmates who couldnt get pass that shirt...Its ok guys no one is dropping the soap here
lol that page thing got me rolling on the floor
Makes Bonomassa look like a cupcake
+John Gillispie I wouldn't. Joe Bonamassa is an outstanding guitarist, one of the absolute best. But J.D. is superior.
+John Gillispie still gonna have to disagree with you there... That combination right there is the recording setup Mr. Hendrix used on his albums. Marshalls are for live music.
It’s amazing how he changed lead and chord playing with his own recording as of 7:15 until the end...brilliant
monster playing
I can do everything J.D can but everyone says it all sounds like shit.... So weird !
Great ! ! ! ! 🐰😀😉🙂🎈
What kinda of style would you call this, like the slap back life he is playing
Monster Guitar player
what is the song at the beginning? Everything sounds fantastic
+Horia Rizea I don't know, but it must be some old rockabilly tune. Brian Setzer plays it in his "Hot Licks" guitar instructional video.
+Horia Rizea he's riffing around 'Mystery Train'
JD shows a clinic on how good a Les Paul could sound! About that Gil Yaron busrt How much does it goes for?
Where is the violin bow?
Man that grass is blue!
Mmm. Maybe my Scotty Moore playing is fine too. Simo is so tasteful player. And he can do pretty much everything.
Reissue or vintage '59 Bassman?
JD clearly lacks the ability to *ever* hit a sour note! Great stuff!
Agreed! Real '59 Bassman.
Metropoulos Amplification
Wow, a real '59 amp with a spot on Gil '59 LP.
Sonic Heaven!

Surfy sounds wow!
LiL Texas Playboy's!
Hey George! Is your EP-4 stock or modified at all? Killer!
Danny Gatton likes this
ok for the amp but this guy is impressive
He just poured his magic bag all over the floor... lol this guy is a fuckin picker. :)
DAAAAAANG!!!!!!
Holy shit!
What's the name of the piece he plays at the very end? (the one that ends up looping and he plays over the top of it)
What color sunburst this ?
Hamburgler strikes again!!!!!
Dang, son!
Is he playing some Plebeian Grandstans riffs or Deathspell Omega at 4:15? Didnt expect some black metal in this video. Crazy beautiful sound and playing.
Ha! I wonder what JD would make of DsO.
Wow
JD honed his chicken pickin' licks playing with Don Kelly's band...doesn't sound like he's lost much.
+guitargeezer He does not chicken pick
No, you're right. When he was in Don Kelly's band he didn't have time to teach himself the more "conventional" method of chicken picking, so he improvised and learned how to replicate the chicken picking sound by purely flatpicking (which to me is even more impressive).

кудряш как играет ))
I'm giving up
Better than bonamassa
Danny Gaton took Joe under his wing when he was 12...Both are great but I give the nod to Joe
Greg Koch will take em ALL to school... I say this with much respect to the victims...
scarfs and horizontal stripes make a girly man.
J B is way better of course but i didnt think anyone could beat Joe as a goofball but this dude has..ha.
virtuoso boredom
He should just dip those hands in cold water... I bet there would be steam.
