Spring and Summer are just words.

It's one thing to try quieting down the mind towards a state without thoughts, however how can a mind that has been trained to anticipate what's coming up ever relax on the present moment?
    For example,
To avoid sudden surprises and having to jam on the brakes that result in clouds of smoke, a good driver's view should never stay locked on the immediate traffic and pavement but should always alternate with glances ahead to see what is happening further down the road. As a bleeding heart animal lover I can spot the squirrels and other creatures that are poised to run across the road, and am terrified when one suddenly comes out that I couldn't know about; devastated if I cause their mamimg or death.
Teachers, supervisors, foremen and fashion designers all have one eye looking at the future while dealing with the present moment.
Musicians and conductors who literally "know the score" have a similar knowledge about what is coming up. To "Be Here Now" we must somehow unite the past and the future into the eternal now
How can this tendency be obliterated so as to relax on the present moment?

I would recommend meditation and breathwork to calm the mind into a state that that allows it to function at full capacity. You’re correct the mind has been programmed to constantly be working but what you’ll come to find is that your mind is always working whether you’re giving conscious attention to it or not, the thinking of thoughts is not actually being as prepared as one may think. Once this realization occurs you begin to trust yourself more. People think fantasizing about the future possibilities allows them to be better prepared when in reality it’s the complete opposite. Folks who live in the present moment are much more prepared for what life throws at them due to their ability to absorb more of the present reality and allow their mind to work in the background. Alan Watts has a story about how when you go to shoot an arrow, you have to trust your process, you can’t think and release the arrow at the same time.

Make your mind like water reflect but don't hold on. Allow your mind to flow through thoughts or the path of lease resistance. The mind, body and spirit are one. The mind and body knows how to go into pilot mode. Most of your involuntary actions like digestion are working without your intent. Let go..

Actually, nothing is wasted, it took what it took but now you here. I felt the same way until understanding everything happens for a reason, and everything unfolds naturally at the right time, including your life and enlightenment.
