That was one of my main struggles on my last trip… seeing how I try to becoming something, only to see that the only way to do so is by not trying. Desiring not to desire. Trying not to try. After being brought up in Christian circles and now being 45, I have heard this many times before. BUT, I thought I was listening, there in lies the problem.
I understand. But there remains one problem. I do not exist? So, who is experiencing the 'life-review' during the NDE, being out of the body feeling what we did wrong and right.....?
Ego. The fear of not existing. The dream character that is stubborn, that it MUST exist because accepting that you don't means no story is going on. If the characters in a book become aware they are a fictional character in a fictional world on a few pieces of paper, the story doesn't work now does it..."You" are just a character that Fate (The nothingness) dreamed up and made a story to play out for it's own amusement. Nothingness has nothing to do you see? What can it do, but imagine infinite amounts of stories. If everyone wakes up, there is no story going on....much like when you lay in bed and have a dream, you find yourself as someone that is "you" in that world, talking with others, there is even a light source like the sun, you have "memories" in the dream of these other characters and yet after you wake up, you go, oh....how the heck did I think any of that was real? Same thing as this perceived "real world." Turtles on top of turtles my friend. Dreams in dreams in dreams. Either you are aware of the dream like a lucid dream where you then can play around with the false world, or you are asleep and believe the world you find "yourself" to be in, to be real.
The guy sitting in the field with papers around him gives a fantastic idea....to give people a sense of enlightenment, have students write up a 1,000 page essay on what they believe enlightenment is. Then have them meet you outside in a field near a tall cliff. Simply say, alright, now....everyone...toss your papers up into their air, over the edge. Their shocked faces will be amusing. They will shout but I worked really hard on this! You aren't even going to grade it! Smile, say nope. And walk away. The point wasn't to write out what enlightenment was, or what they thought it was, it was to empty out their heads of all the useless junk that was getting in the way, and now by tossing it all away, you got a nice empty spot in your head now. Gotta learn to let go of shit, NOTHING is valuable, because there is nothing.
