The guitars in 7:13 ; I believe it’s called a volume swell. It’s when a guitarist plays a note at very low guitar volume and then slowly turns the volume knob and increases it. Adam Jones uses it really well as an effect in many Tool songs ; and its sounds super cool. Sounds even better live !!

Ryan basically hit it on the head towards the end. Tool works if you want to really sit down with a great pair of headphones and concentrate solely on the music and really appreciate the technical depth to the song. It also works if you're working or whatever and just want something that will make you nod your head going in the background. There are a lot of bands that make more technical music than Tool. Tool's secret is that they take all those complex elements and make them groove, which is a rare gift.

@@Gnix1996 I've heard ppl say 10K got newer fans into TOOL because of the commercial friendly songs. The 'hits' on 10K have that 4 on the floor, "sabbath type groove" -MJK quote. However, the same can be said about Aenima (Stinkfist) & Laterlaus (Schism, which was a massive commercial success). TOOL always writes a few songs for commercial play on every album not Undertow. idk if I consider Undertow grunge. It's hard rock. TOOL said, when they were trying to 'make it', they chose their heaviest songs for 'Undertow', because that was the sound back then.
