Musicians of what? SU sucks at playing ballads. They suck and playing marches. There percussion section plays beginning band stuff. They are always out of tune. But as long as they are playing the current Hip Hop songs as loud as they can that means good? Y’all can that. Considering Hip Hop is made from beats that are looped. Which explains southern easy arrangements full of half notes. No musicians takes SU serious. Which is why they have yet to gain any marching band awards from the marching band establishment.
I’m half way through. I’m at spend my life by SU. First of all. YOU A REAL BAND HEAD, SHOT OUT TO YOU. You all the way in point. But rewatch if you have time. Those SU directors knew who they was going up against. Lil old school history. You right. Nobody really checks for FamU stand battles. Why. Because they shit be bland. BUT. Back in the day from SU to anybody in the swac. They didn’t want to see fam. WHY. Because they would right the WHOLE DAMN SONG OUT. Key changes, all that. FAreal Lil Bro. It was a lil embarrassing (musically) cause you know in the SWAC we play wit a lot of soul and chop songs up. FAM new who they was going up against to. WHY. Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying. You can’t be from my error. First I’m just gone start with the numbers. Be foreal Fam was once called the marching cd 💿 I ain’t even a die hard FamU fan but I know them boys couldn’t be fucked wit musically. Go do some research I been listening to battles since MF was recording them on they walk mens and passing them out through the band community. The best battles is on VHS 📼 not RUclips.
FAMU always had FLAG Corp, which is a mixture of male and females these days. In the past I don't remember them dancing in the stands, personally I think it's gay (no offense to anyone)
@@litsupa1002 they actually have a couple of females on the Flag Corp, that still doesn't make it better though. If you look at OLD FAMU videos before the suspension it didn't happen. Hell some years they had almost 20 members and they were all male.
Yo... I'll be honest.. FAMU has some great selections.. but you can see the difference in arrangements, chords and utilization of instruments. That anniversary sounded airy. Vs SU reply. It was fuller because different instruments played parts that filled in gaps. So it wasn't as empty if that makes sense. Still SU is a different beast. But FAMU is trying...
FAMU is a PWI marching band. Mr.Taylor is a man of the CHURCH, a peaceable man, but I think POWER is for SLAUGHTERING the competition. It has no other purpose. It's not even for CRANKING like a Simmons Both Sides or Tourist. POWER is about devastation...wiping out Yosemite even.
Power is easily one of my favorite arrangements from the jukebox EVER, it really shows that Taylor is nothing to play with. The other directors are also starting to become a problem, especially Todd, he just had a few misses this season but other than that he done proved himself to me.
How is FAMU a PWI marching band they created all this we're discussing? You really need to learn your HBCU band history. True indeed FAMU is known for their field shows and dance routine in which MOST HBCUs concentrated on during my time. The 5th Quarter wasn't a big deal until more recent times (2000s) hell you had more Drumline battles. On another note I love when SU plays Power the energy is crazy, but at the same time when they play more complicated songs the volume goes done because you can't just blow. It takes more control breathing when you're doinng constant runs.
FAMU=STERILIZED MUSIC=NO PASSION=ELEVATOR MUSIC. Marching band music for nursing homes. ONLY FAMU IS RESPONSIBLE FOR STARTING 5TH QUARTER W/A SCHOOL SONG. That was their choice.
Why does FAMU have 7 quints? They sound like clicks or like someone is knocking at the door. NOW, I'm not trying to throw shade but I thought the FAMU dancers where wearing turbans. LMAO Whenever I think of those dancers, they put a smile on my face.
Famu never did like and hated when our band director retired and the new band instructor came playing famu noooo we went from jsu and southern drumline cadence to duck mouth never....high school days 2002

@@jolandaallen5866 Yes, they are hard to play because it's one person playing 4, (quads); 5, (quints), or 6, (sexteps), voices. Band Head you are right. FAMU will probably never come to Southern bringing a knife to a gun fight in Mumford Stadium. They got to get that travel budget money together, if they are going to visit other SWAC games.
Yeah man FAMU is basically that DCI and PWI sound you can’t expect them to play out of their style just to satisfy the SU and JSU crowds it’s about being dynamic and precise with them they not there to “blow on you” so if that’s what you want you will always be disappointed honestly.
WHY. Cause SU done damn near mastered the quality and character for the SWAC as far as arrangements for power and quality of music. Aight. Back to the battle.
for the life of me, I can't discover the point you were trying to make. Are you saying at one point in the past (like under Dr. Greggs, SU was cared of FAMU???? Keep hallucinating.
Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying. You can’t be from my error. First I’m just gone start with the numbers. Southern ain’t never been in the numbers with fam an I can’t spell halusinate but the tapes don’t lie. Be foreal Fam was once called the marching cd 💿 I ain’t even a die hard FamU fan but I know them boys couldn’t be fucked wit musically. Not taking any credit from Greg’s but them damn trumpets ain’t never been enough for Fam in the 90s late 80s. Greg’s built that program to standerd in like 93 94 and they fell off in the late 90s.
I can tell.

Had SU won they game then they wouldn't have played it... but SU lost so the head coach directs the band to "Mighty Rattlers"

@@jolandaallen5866 Yes, they are hard to play because it's one person playing 4, (quads); 5, (quints), or 6, (sexteps), voices. It adds extra voices to the drumline, so you can have a counter rhythm to the snares/ have them play melodic passages, have them play conga or bongo rhythmic patterns, tune them up for a soprano voice over the snares, or tune them lower for better blending with the toms or the bass drums. 👍🏾
