About Project Fame: Project Fame West Africa is a regional music talent reality TV Show produced in Lagos Nigeria and aired across West Africa. The show features contestants from Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. Auditions are conducted in these four West African countries to select a total of 24 contestants who then advance to the next stage and converge in Lagos, where the judges will weed off 6 contestants, leaving 18 to advance to the semi finals. From these 18, only 15 will advance to the Academy where they will be drilled and trained in the art of music for weeks.
The show runs for a total of 10 weeks, during which one contestant will be evicted every week for the duration of the show. One winner will emerge and win the star prize, while first and second runners up go home with consolation prizes.

It's really sad that most of our local artists can hardly express themselves in spoken English. But like 'we' would say, 'who English epp'?
My review of the performances:
Elizabeth - She was that song. The song was her. Perfect control, emoting on point, she looked and sang the part. She should consider that style for her personal singing career.
Pere - Most Nigerian contemporary songs are not made with singing in mind. They are more of talk-singing so Pere did well actually showing vocal prowess through it and owning the song and stage. I didn't like his costume though. It was supposed to be youngish omo-yoruba thingy, you know like the Danshiki thing not a flowing baba-like appearance. I will listen to that guy sing the phonebook.
Mirabel - She actually tried to sing and was better than the elimination night. Her major problem was her breath control. She's just not there vocally. She should focus more on instrumentation that may be where she would shine.
Oluchi - It seemed like she struggled with the key a bit but she held it together. Her stage presence looking much better too. She was also wise to pace herself and allow the backup cover for when she was getting out of breath. Decent.
Eli - Bossman! It was a joy watching him move so much and yet having his breath control like so smooth. The song is more about attitude than moves or vocals and he made it work. Noticed he speaks Naija pidgin very well during the week.
Blessing - She was near it but didn't hit it totally. Her chest voice was sounding hoarse on the high notes like she has a cold or her voice cracked. She didn't hit the 'uuuu yeah' part at all. It would have been better if she diversified her tone for the verses, like using chest for the female part and deep belly for the male part. The same tone throughout made it just on the same plain. She tried.
Yusuf - Yeah, he carried it through. If he didn't shine in this performance, he should be spanked. It's great he stayed on the street without fujilizing the song. Let him enjoy his short respite in the spotlight lol.
Winner - Something about her today reminded me of Immaculate, just less intensity. She had the song vocally and she actually moved! But she's not naturally a sensual person and that was the missing link in her performance. Breath control was on point too.
Kitay! He was in concert! That was so lit! It was the high point of the performances. His vocals - check, stage presence - check, emoting - check, swag - over check. He's evolving into a total package.
Benjamin - It kind of fell flat after the powerhouse Kitay gave. He didn't stay on the beats well at all, slowing down the high points of the song. I kept waiting for that 'the moment' but it didn't come. And why was he pronouncing 'Kpalanga' like one oyinbo?
Gabriel - Wow! He was totally in his element! The vocal show off at the start was it. All that his awkwardness on stage is gone. He even got to do that his funny dance. It was a joy to watch. Okay, let me stop gushing.
Dapo - He gave a believable performance. I kind of recognised the issue with him today. He has the tendency to go sort of karaoke; mimicking the original singer. It worked well for him here because Wizkid's songs have a particular style of delivery and he could carry it through. With the Westlife song, his vocals couldn't give that. He needs to mature more into his own.
Steve - He came in and the concert mode returned as the audience couldn't resist singing along. It was a controlled performance and he just has this unique tone with whatever he sings. His costume though, what's with the 'bonfo' agbada na, it actually hampered his movement somewhat.
Okiemute! She was lit! You know when you go to concerts and after the small acts have performed, you wait for the star of the night, this was it! Often, when females have to sing a song originally sung by a male, it becomes a vocal crutch. But here, it was just a spotlight moment through and through.
My favourite performances: Okiemute, Kitay, Elizabeth, Steve, Gabriel and Eli.
On probation, I think the judges should just have chosen the 5 or 6 who didn't stand out instead of putting everyone on probation. The danger now is that some good ones will go home.

This time I agree completely with your analysis, Pere should not have worn am agbada and if he wanted to definitely not a pink agbada. Okiemute is the one to beat like her performance is what everyone always looks up to. Elizabeth killed her performance I didnt believe anyone would have done a Simi song justice.

see uncle Ben smiling and dancing when yusuf was performing and this is the first time am happy with his performance. The two kitays were in point, eli's got moved, Elizabeth was great, Stephen is very underated, Benjamin be careful, dapo was good too, blessing had few mistakes, pere was okay too. Every other person tried.

Kitay, Steve, Okiemute and Elizabeth were outstanding for me.
Yusuf was just lucky he is in his comfort zone which he interpreted very well.
The non-yoruba speaking boys really tried with the yoruba songs , I am looking forward to Yusuf or Dapo sing an Igbo dominated song like Phyno's.
Their stylist was on point but I don't know what's happening with Benjamin's crop jacket.
Choreography was 💯.

Kitay is a Bomb!!! He just blew me away- he really did speak the Yoruba wella than I expected. Gabriel, Dapo, Eli, Steve (his voice ehn) did really great, and Okemutie is so dramatic- she's got some cray energy in her. Above all, y'all are awesome. why do we like making things difficult for ourselves(Africans)? this a competition in Nigeria, by Nigerians and for some insane reasons we keep singing western songs. like am so disgusted, we hate everything african we have so many iconic musicians in africa with amazing songs, yet the producers, judges, and faculty pick western songs. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig, no matter how hard we try to cover being black/african ko le werk. see how flawless they sounded, not to talk about their dance moves, even the dancers were superb because of the songs tonight.
Well said!African esp Naija songs take alot of energy to sing and perform, not easy at all. Even naija artistes can't sing their own song on stage without panting except a few.

Okay so I am one of those people that normally bash yusuph steady lol he did well today and that is because it's African contemporary night, that doesn't change my perception of him at all.. He still needs to kill it on every other genre and not fujilize it as he normally would. Anyways generally good performance from others... Still watching how the rest of the season will unfold after the travesty of elimination night 2
