    Please do Kithkin tribal next.
    I don't care if it's any good, but for the love of Lorwyn, I really wanna see a Kithkin deck, even if it is super casual.
    ...
    But this video was great though. I really enjoyed the intro! :)

    Recently started playing Magic and instantly drew towards Golgari colors. I especially love the generals they offer, with Sapling of Colfenor as my main choice. Then I saw this video and was instantly inspired. This is very informative and fun to watch! I'd love to see more!

    So glad I found this video! My current Commander deck is a Green Treefolk/Saproling Deck. It's the first deck I've built and I've only won with it once due to some early Saproling generation and a lucky 22/22 Fungal Behemoth that led to my opponent forfeiting.
    Your videos like this are great for card suggestions and comparisons! I love them!

    I was inspired by this video when I saw it, first getting back into Magic through EDH. I finally got around to building it a couple months ago.
    I don't have Worldslayer in my version of the deck, but I have a couple other little tree-ts that I think you'd be proud of.

    I love that you did Sapling; I've been waiting for this since discovered your channel via your coverage of Sapling in the "5 Under-rated Commanders" clip. I've been running a similar (more land ramp, less rock, more saprolings / fungi, less tutoring) deck for about a year. Some good ideas here, might have to find room for them.

    I happened to be playing a lot during Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, so my friends and I made Block EDH decks. There's not a lot of acceleration or tutoring in the Mega Block, so it's a little slower, but makes for great slugfests!

    Amazing video!!! I am a new player to Commander and wanted to build a tribal deck that had Green in it because of the fact that I love to play Green. Anyway, this video has shown me the potential of the Treefolk. So I will use the information within your video to make a version of Treefolk Tribal. Thanks.

  • @dagosto

    Great video! Actually my first tribal deck was a treefolk Doran. I couldn't replace him because I got the full art promo but Sapling was part of the team. O_o

    • @TolarianCommunityCollege
      @TolarianCommunityCollege  9 лет назад +9

      That full art promo is worth quite a lot!

    • @DiscoStriker
      @DiscoStriker 9 лет назад +2

      JakesFavorites Ah, Doran is NOT useless. You forget. Assault Formation only affects YOUR creatures. If you have an opponent with high attack and low toughness creatures, then you can reverse their switch. Also, Doran is a 5/5 body (basically) for 3 mana. If you own a Treefolk Harbinger (which, if you're going treefolk, you better), then you can use the cheapest tutor in the game to get to him. And when he comes out on turn 3, you'll have a 3/3 and a 5/5. Pretty solid. If you have Orchard Warden, you gain 5 life instantly. In a normal game, that's a quarter of your health. Also, because he's part white, he allows you access to one of the most powerful treefolk in the game: Indomitable Ancients. Also with white is the exile removal. Beyond that, the black allows for a vast array of removal that just destroys your opponents creatures. In short, AF does NOT replace Doran. It's just an alternative. I have been designing a treefolk tribal deck as well, and when AF came out, I was initially annoyed and pissed. But during a shower one day I thought about all of this. I had designed my treefolk deck to include 2 Dorans. Now, when it comes out, I'm going to add 2 AF's. Why? Choices. Because I may only want to boost my creatures using their defence and not my opponents'.

    • @DiscoStriker
      @DiscoStriker 9 лет назад +2

      JakesFavorites I'm not replacing Doran. Just adding two AFs. I guess that wasn't the best explanation. Also PucaTrade is AMAZING for finding niche cards. I've gotten 2 Dauntless Dourobarks already. I bought 3 Timber Protectors a while back, but didn't have the fourth. I got the final for the playset on Puca. I haven't seen anyone get a Doran on there recently, so there's a chace that he's not on there (which is unfortunate because I need just one more).
      But as far as the Assault Formations go, the FLAVOR is all wrong. I don't care at all about Khans. I need them trees.

    • @DiscoStriker
      @DiscoStriker 9 лет назад +1

      JakesFavorites I want to perfect my treefolk deck so that I can later trade/buy into the most rare and beautiful card I can, such as the full art foil promo Dorans. I'm playing against every modern deck I can, which has thus far led me to discover it's poor against mono red or mono white aggro and mill. Besides that, it mostly wins. But I can't figure out any cards to prevent losses against that. Help, professor?

    • @DiscoStriker
      @DiscoStriker 9 лет назад

      JakesFavorites Thanks man. I'll see if I can get my hands on some of those. And congrats on that Doran!

    I actually planned the deck before learning about Treefolk, so this helped a ton xD cause Treefolk work with my playstyle very well

    This is a great video. Not just because this sounds like an outrageously amazing deck, but the research put into it and education of the Treefolk and its story tied in with the cards (Which makes Magic that much cooler). That introduction was very excellent. These video are top notch, and I honestly consider you The Professor of Magic: The Gathering.
    btw, where do you find the background info on types of cards like Treefolk to where you can make great introductions like the one you did. And of course be able to build a good deck around it.

    Hey, Thank you for that deck tech, I have been waiting for that one for years, but any way, I have some FAQ questions for you
    1) Do you read all of your comments if possible?
    2) Do you use the app Decked?
    3) Will you make a video on how to make a sturdy mana base?
    4) How do I know if I'm getting the singles I buy at the best price possible?
    5) Will you ever veer out from Magic:The Gathering and do pokemon, or Yu-Gi-Oh?

    • @TolarianCommunityCollege
      @TolarianCommunityCollege  9 лет назад

      Gianni Guiliana 1)I try.
      2) I do not, no.
      3) I have a few ideas, but keep in mind that a mana base depends on the deck, format, curve, etc. So there's no one universal answer.
      4) Check to see what prices should be on Magiccards.info and tcgplayer.com
      5) Yes, I want to talk sometimes about non-MTG things, but I don't play Yu-gi-Oh so likely not that.

    • @gianniguiliana155
      @gianniguiliana155 9 лет назад

      Tolarian Community College
      1) Are you going to make an FAQ video?
      2) Are you going to include a chart on all of the types of lands (pain, shock fetch, etc.) in your videos?
      3) How do you make all of your deck techs?

    As someone who plays in a competitive commander league I have to say quite a few of these suggested cards dont do enough to really be considered. Very few cards are worth including if there inclusion starts with, "Well IF we fight a deck with heavy 'blank' strategy." its probably not good. You need all your cards to carry there weight to keep you from bricking. Unless your local meta is heavy on a strategy that the card handles, your group allows sideboadring OR you often face the same player a lot and need a leg up.
    Also when suggesting tutors always suggest vampiric tutor as well! Cast it at the end of an opponent's turn in order to draw the exact soltuion to what they just spent the last turn or maybe even turns setting up! And with her ability plausably gaining you life the 2 life cost on vampiric tutor is a non-issue. Esspecially in commander.
    You also didnt suggest Phyrexian Arena, Decree of Pain or Damnation. All of which are 100% musts in a deck with black in my opinion. I have never cast one of these spells and regretted it. Well, except for when they get countered. :P
    Other than that great video. Might give her a try myself! I didnt realize how many cool treefolk cards there were.

    Hi Professor.
    You mention that the deck is a middle-of-the-road build (meaning that, given unlimited funds, you'd be able to build a stronger version). Have you got a list for that better version? This deck looks like a lot of fun and I'd like to give Commander a go.

      Adrian Camilleri , there are a lot of upgrades I would do to this deck that cost significantly more than the budget one listed. Abrupt Decay is a must, as well as Hero's Downfall. Garruk, Caller of Beasts will help keep your hand full. Sensei Divining top will allow you to control the top of your deck increasing you triggers when your commander attacks. Damnation is a good board whipe, especially if all your guys have indistructible. There are options, jut limited by the willingness to spend money.

      The Professor calls it "Larry Niven's Disk" because Larry Niven, a science fiction writer, is the inspiration for the naming of the cards as "Nevinyrral" is "Larry Niven" backwards. The actual card is pronounced "Ne-vin-ur-al" by the way.

    This is a suggestion, I think it would be nice if you could record any of the prereleases you attend. Even explain your deck that you used.

    Tolarian Community College Professor would you be willing to attempt a varolz, the scar-striped edh build?
    Also i think I'll attempt my hand at this build i have a few ideas to go in a little different direction, but you've given me a lot of ideas i hadn't considered and as always i appreciate your POV & approach to all things magic!

    instead for ramp package, use exploration, azusa, oracle of muldaya, boundless realms, mana vault, sol ring, crucible of worlds with fetch lands and a primeval bounty to even it out oh and nothing better than hitting 9 or 10 mana floating on a lotus cobra after using boundless realms.
