  • A walk in Saint Tropez during the off season is a different vibe. The days are calm and relaxed. I think visiting during the off season is a perfect time to visit , you have the streets to yourself and you can still enjoy lunch or a coffee on a terrace. I hope you enjoy seeing this side of the French Riviera.

What a beautiful town. Back in the 80's when i would hear about The French Riviera, i had no clue how calm and beautiful it was. Thank you for sharing this video. Love the charm and relaxation vibe i got from the town.

Yes, I loved that I was able to capture a different side of Saint Tropez. In my mind I just think of yachts and party life but there’s so much more to it.

I can only imagine how quiet and authentic Saint Tropez must have been before the hype and all the ugly buildings were built... I recently watched the movie "Et Dieu créa la femme" and it shows the Saint Tropez of the late sixties. With the beautiful original fishermen's homes etc. You actually seem to have shot quite a few places that are in the movie as well! Thanks for this lovely video Sam! I want to go there now :)

Sam, thank you so much for this peak at quiet winter Saint Tropez. I have visited once, with my son, and it quickly became one of my favorite places. Our first evening there, I ate one of the best and most memorable meals of my life right on the sand a few feet from the sea, which was swimming pool calm. I can't wait to go back to Saint-Trope, Antibes, Nice, and Monaco! Aix too, which I found to be just stunning, though I love the water.

There is something so healing about being by the sea! Your time in Saint Tropez sounds magical! Would love for you to share the name of the restaurant if you remember ☺️

@@SamFournier I just looked it up -- it was La Bouillabaisse Plage. It was a wonderful meal, I had the tuna steak, but I frankly think it was more the circumstances that made it so magical. My son and I had biked down from Paris, on our way through to Italy, and he had had a bad wipeout on some loose gravel about thirty hours prior to that meal. For a few hours, we were wondering whether that would be the end of our journey. But we managed to bandage him up and he toughed it out through the pain and stiffness, and so the very next day we were having a fabulous meal on the beach in Saint-Tropez! They even had a fireworks show up the coast! He ate that meal with his forearm and elbow covered in bandages. He's an exotic car fanatic and we spent three days in Saint-Tropez just car spotting and taking photos, so he just loved it. Learned a very deep lesson: If you really have to fight for something, it makes it a hundred times more meaningful and wonderful. And the sea -- it's deep in our DNA as humans to seek out coastlines, I think. I love your channel, Sam. I watch your videos whenever I need to readjust my attitude and remember what's important in life...

I have yet to visit St. Tropez, so this was a lovely view into what it's like there. It's so true that France is seasonal, especially here in the Alps! A change I have to adjust to, coming from California where everything is always open, haha. Summer time gets busy again here in the Alps and it's beautiful.

Are you in general afraid to drive or in France? I visited the Côte d’Azur last year and had a rental car. I had to get through crazy Nice traffic and very quickly my daughter (20) said: mom just drive as crazy and rude as they do. I did and felt much more in tune with the traffic around me. The parking garages were a nightmare so I just got used to taking 30 turns before inching my way out of a spot 😅 it was great that we could just go anywhere and take the rural roads. If I were there I would take you on a ride!

Very nice. I like a bit of bustle. But, it’s definitely, nice to miss full tourist seasons. Living there, it’s a great opportunity to explore without tourists, I’m sure. That’s how I felt, living in San Francisco.

@@SamFournierMy sister has a huge fear too. She was in a car accident so that's why she has fear. She went to counseling for a while and that helped. She now has her license and will drive on back roads only when necessary. She says driving isn't as bad because she's in control of vehicle. Hopefully over time, it will get better for you too.
