This is one of the very first games I ever played. We couldn't afford games back when I was young so we'd often rent them from a store and I rented this one a few times in hopes that the existing safe file allowed to me to see more of the game, but this was never the case as the game was always stuck on the first chapter. I used to think this game to be about Cupid because you got a bow and have to collect hearts as a currency, but I never realized it's actually part of the Kid Icarus franchise and Ike wasn't properly introduced to me until Super Smash Bros Brawl which I think many can relate to. Nostalgia aside, playing through this game was a little confusing at first but once I understood the concept it became fairly enjoyable. Each stage has a variety of doors leading to a shop, a spring, a treasure room, or other things. Entering a door gives you points but you can also kill enemies for points. You're required to reach a certain amount of points to get arrow or health upgrades so it's important to kill all enemies along your way. I maxed my health a little sooner than I thought so don't stress the difficulty of it. In this video I basically visit all doorways for each stage even though most of them are useless. I skipped a few in the final stage as they became abundant. The first boss is perhaps the hardest part of the game and definitely the reason why I was never able to make it past the first chapter. The other bosses become a lot easier but I think it's mainly due to having much stronger arrows. If you neglect arrow upgrades you're gonna be in for more challenging fights. I thought the game was pretty enjoyable, but there's a huge nostalgia factor for me so I'm definitely being biased here. I even recognized all of the audio after two decades. Oh and this game was played using the Super Game Boy enhancement which is why it's in color. Not every GB game has this, but we enable it where possible.
the forgotten sequel to kid icarus. sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who remembers this game. maybe now that you did a video on it more people will see it
Weirdly I actually have a lot more time with this one than I do with the original. Never beat either, but I played this one a lot when I first got a GBA emulator as a kid
got this game way back in the day, still have my original cart of it... many road trips playing this one, was able to beat it but the way it did it was with a glitch that isnt widely known and to this day i really dont know how i make it happen but i use to be able to do it consistently, by somehow getting the barrel to overflow and give you infinte waters of life... how it happens im still unsure but back on the old gray brick i could do it all the time
Apparently, this game was removed from canon since the game Kid Icarus: Uprising makes no mention to it and the only games referenced is the NES Kid Icarus.

@@longplayarchiveunfortunately I never beat it. I couldn't even get past the first level
Well I didn’t and never will.
Cool seeing this in color

The game where Pit died because the idiot decides to fly to the sun and burn his wings. I also find it creepy how the sun smiles when Pit dies.
"Who's this Icarus character the game is named after? Can I meet him?"
"Um, actually no. But let's not worry about that-"
I love this one

That's because this game was initially never released in Japan.
Love the first stage music.

A game boy game in color??
Ah yeah, it's the Super Game Boy enhancement.
@@longplayarchive thanks for clearing that up cuz I thought it was a Gameboy color game when the cover showed just regular Gameboy.
