@@sheakirkness4735I’m mad about it each time theyres a reboot everyone goes crazy like it’s the end of the world like these are made for kids you ain’t the target audience
Don't worry James, I enjoy watching your Reboot rants. Your videos are very smart, honest, and intelligent. It was your rant on the CGI Fireman Sam video that got me addicted to your channel!! Keep up the Reboot rants James. it often brightens up my day Whenever you upload a video where you review a horrible sequel/reboot. PS: I am one of the many few people who like Make Way for Noddy as I grew up with it with the VHS tapes my Grandparents owned. And if you do review your old VHS tapes like Gondarth, then your channel will only get even better than it is!! As a nostalgiaholic born in 2004 yet mostly watched shows from the 80s and 90s..I endorse your channel as one of my favourites
Sadly, I never grew up with Toyland Adventures when I was young. It was a missed opportunity for me along with Series 5 of Fireman Sam and Series 8-11 of Thomas. I only vaguely remembered seeing a promo for it at the time. But it just occured to me as a dream. I then became more aware of the show when I was 6.
That comparison between "toddler shows" and "family shows" was just the argument I needed if I want to create something like those classic shows. Thank you so much!
The reason Season 4 of Noddy's Toyland Adventures' animation being different from the previous 3 season was due to a year gap (Season 1- 3 1992-4 , Season 4 2000) and after that the animation team moved on to Oakie Doke (1995) it could of been possible that Season 4 could been done to fill in the episodes for The Noddy Shop (started in 1998) as that series has the average 60+ episode slot and some of the animators might of moved on at that point. and another interesting fact Paul K. Joyce wrote additional music for Season 4 that sounds slightly identical to the music he did in Bob The Builder as he was writing music for the series at the time.
You make really, really good points. Kids may be easy to entertain, as Caddy said, but they still deserve shows with quality and effort put into, as well as charm that adults can enjoy along with them too. And Big Ears slapping Noddy across the face both ruined my childhood and made me chuckle for some reason. And I remember hating Noddy in Toyland compared to Make Way, which I grew up with.
30:14 one thing I didn't like with Noddy Toyland Detective is that they decided to make Big Ears a toy brownie since in previous shows he wasn't actually a toy he was a real brownie and also I found out that in the US dub of the show they changed Big Ears name to Mr Squeaks for some reason
We need people like you talking about toddler shows just as we need people talking about media intended for other audiences. When you do this we learn what works and what doesn’t! I hope to have kids one day and I plan to make sure they don’t watch badly made, possibly mind-corrupting shows. They want to watch Peppa Pig? They might as well want to watch the Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon! I will make sure their exposure to Bob The Builder & Fireman Sam is restricted to the BBC seasons, and their exposure to Postman Pat is restricted to the pre-2000s seasons. I will also show them many hidden gems in animation, I wish to ensure their minds develop properly. I’ve always wanted my own kids, I just want to make sure I get the job of being a father done right.
Make Way For Noddy is for me another cartoon from my kindergaten days. This series was 23 days old when I was born. I grew up with it, never knowing until a few years ago how old Noddy actually is. 25:59 Whaat? ...I immediately recognised the voice to be Keith Wickham 28:16 Hold the fuck up, this is Wacky Races?! Oh and just why is the steering wheel of Noddy's car on the other side now?

You know what, I think Jay Exci made a rather legitimate argument for why the statement of why liking something from a format or genre, that was mostly targeted at a younger audience, is "childish" is just deeply flawed; Abandoning something you liked since you were a child, from simply out of fear of coming off as immature or childish to everyone else isn't a sign of growing up. It's more often than not a sign of insecurity of one's self or simply a sign of pressure coming from people being conditioned in society to believe that it's the "sensible" thing to do.
I removed the 2 other comments I made in favor of a better one: I totally agree that Pingu is a family show. I say it because some of the show has some rather mature themes compared to other kids shows, and plus, a good chunk of episodes, most notably Season 1 episodes, were pulled from TV for scary or violent content, or potty humor in Pingu's Lavatory Story's case. The most notable banned Pingu episode IMO is Pingu's Dream, aka the one with the Walrus that managed to become a mini meme. How that episode still aired in the US is completely beyond me! I assume it aired in the US without getting banned because American television networks (Cartoon Network and PBS Kids Sprout in Pingu's case) didn't mind it as bad, despite still getting scares out of children, and besides, when Courage the Cowardly Dog, a very well known scary kids show, premiered, Pingu was still relatively new to American television, as until Cartoon Network debuted it's anthology show Small World, which featured Pingu as well, Pingu was shown at the Paley Center for Media, I guess it aired on TV in the US because Trickfilmstudio and BBC wanted to get the show sold to other countries, especially since Pingu already proved rather popular in America and still is fairly well known here, it never reached it's success in the UK and Japan.
I liked seeing your thoughts on this classic series. Here's what I remember about each series you mentioned: I recall watching The Noddy Shop (which Toyland Adventures was a part of) it when I was younger. I rediscovered it last year after seeing a balloon with Noddy on it at a card store which sold balloons from the 90's. I remember the theme song, the episode where they sing about cleaning, some episode where the penguins played their instruments to start a song, an episode where they went to the North Pole, an episode where the kids play a fishing game and one about a race. And I now think Johnny Crawfish is my favorite character... About Make Way For Noddy, I haven't seen anything but the intro. NJN did air it when I was in elementary school, but I changed the channel to either Rugrats or Cyberchase (I can't remember) because they advertised the show as The Noddy Shop (using an up next promo for that show) and I was bummed that it wasn't what the promo said it was, and I once saw a bit of the intro when it was on NBC Kids a few years later (it came on after a show my dad was watching, and he had a tendency to change the channel whenever the Saturday morning blocks began). We didn't get the 2009 series here for whatever reason, but I've seen Toyland Detective on the guide on Sprout and recommended in every single possible category on Netflix, but never watched it.
Please don't get discouraged. Keep doing what you do and thank you for considering the people who aren't from the U.K. with your reviews. I hate it when people can't comprehend that kids shows shouldn't get a free pass on quality because of who they aim towards. Yes some kids may not be as intelligent as others or need repetition to get the lessons but not EVERY show has to be that way. Looney Tunes were aimed at adults but nowadays people forget that. Why else would Bugs Bunny accidentally reveal he used to be in porn (he called it a stag film) in one episode. Anyway Noddy is a series I sort of remember, right there with Lamb Chop's play-along on PBS. I can understand modernizing that since like you said sadly most kids don't play with physical toys as much. RIP Toys R US. I see way too many parents just give kids their phones instead. I think Noddy would have to be a period piece or set in the 19th or 20th century to keep the style or at least most of the characters. A Christmas Carol still works and only a few works have tried to modernize it (I can only think of Scrooged with Bill Murray right now for some reason). Noddy hasn't been heavily ruined like the other works in my opinion. At least the updates try to keep most things intact. Thank you for your review and your hard work. Have a good day, sir from a girl in Texas.
Well I usually don't reveal my gender unless I trust who I'm subscribed to or the content creator asks for the argument or opinion from someone who is a specific gender for discussion. Philip DeFranco does that a lot because he wants to get all viewpoints. Oh and one last thing for the video. If there's one thing that got ruined it was the goblins. They looked like Keebler elves in Noddy in Toyland.
You know, if the recent show was to do some call-backs to the older series, they could always do like say like a town filled of antique toys (with probably a name referring to that) and probably have it be like in a more far and secluded place in Toyland. Heck, if it was possible, due to Big Ears' supposed age, could always have him basically go on a bit of a trip down memory lane. Though, I don't really know enough about the show to see how much of that could be implemented, but it could always be interesting, like say, for a series special or something.
Plus, let's be honest, here. It'd probably lead to a few clashes of eras type stuff to work off of, especially if say... They decided to make the goblins like the town's most wanted criminals and they supposedly decided to go after Noddy, thinking that he might have something more interesting for them to steal or due to the fact that he's the newcomer, it'd be easy for them to mess with him, compared to the locals.
@@JamesAWilliams Make way felt like a Continuation to Toyland Adventures 1. The characters exactly the same 2. The settings were the Sams 3. The Rumor was the Sam
Since I was born in 1998 and from the US, I originally thought Make Way for Noddy was the original and didn't know there were previous Noddy shows until I looked up the series on the internet. But the Toyland Detective series is just terrifying in my views.
I think you have some valid points. I mean, I absolutely love these shows that I loved when I was younger, especially the Animals Of Farthing Wood. I agree with you, Reboots need to be judged. I wouldn't say all are horrible(I am desperately waiting for a Farthing Wood Reboot to happen). But certain ones, like Fireman Sam and Bob The Builder just suck, they changed some of the shows I liked. Teletubbies Reboot IMO, slightly creepy with the Tiddlytubbies but a good cast such as Jim Broadbent and David Walliams. Still, like I said, you have an absolutely valid point.
You know something James, that prologue you just gave out was actually reasonable and very good. EmpLemon should take the hint that no matter what, he can't rant on people taking something seriously about something that people (especially you) have been watching since it first started, when he is doing the exact same thing by becoming a Behind the Meme wannabe.
I watch a lot of Emplemon and you can't call people a manchild when your icon is a robot chicken joke and you make 30 minute videos about memes. maximum is 20 minutes.
Has anyone not mentioned that Noddy's Car's steering wheel and driver's seat in Noddy Toyland Detective has switched from the right side to the left side?
You make a good point about kids not playing with the kinds of toys you see in Noddy, but tbh, no one ever gave a shit they weren’t exactly modern toys in each Noddy series before Toyland Detective, but when modernising Noddy, they didn’t need to get rid of all the remaining original characters such as Tessie Bear, Mr Plod, Sly and Gobbo. When modernising Noddy they didn’t need to completely change the designs to something that doesn’t resemble the original designs much, they could’ve also brought back older characters that had been removed in Make Way For Noddy and Noddy in Toyland, such as The Tubby Bears and Mr Sparks
To be honest I find Big World Big Adventure decent but that my opinion. Also I don't remember watching much of Noddy as kid but i must have watch some episodes before. P.S. before the actually video begin, you made good points and i guess you have grown as a person. Good for you mate, good for you. Edit:Oh also forgot, MOAB is now known as Thespio.
@@joshbrony2204 Go be honest, whilst I didn't really like certain aspects of the movie, seasons 22 and onward were OK to me. Kind of more on par with season 7, the black sheep of classic Thomas. Especially because, for all the faults those seasons have, nothing has been more painful to sit through than seasons 13-16, to be perfectly honest. Also, I guess on a side note that's more relevant to this video, but who here kind of almost wants to see Jimmy Hibbert get involved in the series, either as a writer or appearing as a character (even if it's a one-off appearance in a special) in the series?
26:29 yeah I never understood the reason why they decided to switch their names around in Noddy in Toyland because it's very confusing for various people who watched the previous Noddy shows since you know Gobbo is meant to be the smart one and Sly is the dumb one not the other way around
My theory is that after having simplified their respective appearances, they forgot who was who and said: "Eeny, meeny, miney, moe..." and this was the result 🙄🤦♀️
This is definitely so true. All these reboots of kid's shows you're ranting on, I used to watch them and I was little, and I must say I watched all the originals and they were good back in the day. I find it so sad to see that all these well known kid's shows have been turned from good 2D animation into trashy CGI animation. I will admit that CGI animation only goes well for certain shows, but for shows like Noddy, Fireman Sam and Bob the Builder, it completely ruins it. I feel sorry for kids of today, as they won't be able to experience what good animation and storylines are. Overall, I really enjoy your rants. they're hilarious. it was thanks to one of my friend's neighbours that i came across your channel. Keep up the good work
People may know already but there’s also a 60s one which I recently found out about! Called: “The further Adventures of Noddy” and only one episode is found
Here's probably why they got rid of Mr. and Mrs. Tubby Bear: Master Tubby Bear was more well-behaved in MWFN. He was more mischievous in that series, while NTA...he was kinda of a little prick. Also, the pacing in MWFN (well for me anyways) works better when you put the speed at 1.25x (I even like the music better at that tempo). Plus, to me, I like how MWFN doesn't have Noddy's name in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. Like, "Noddy this" or "Noddy that." Another thing that I like about MWFN is that it gave more attention to the secondary characters, something I feel NTA was kinda lacking. We got to see more sides of characters like Master Tubby, Martha Monkey, Miss Pink Cat, Mr. Plod, Mr. Wobbly Man, hell even Sly and Gobbo. Yeah, the animation looks very PC-Game-ish, but at least they kept the original looks of the characters, barring Mr. Sparks, Miss Pink Cat, Dinah Doll, though they don't bother me personally.
Yeah, that's why I don't anything Noddy related post-Make Way. Why they decided to get rid of three of the most entertaining characters in the whole series I'll never know.
Some of those complaints you said could also apply to CGI Fireman Sam. I feel like the reason they got rid of Bella was because they were introducing the whole fish cafe and 2 cafes would of been too much. The reason why I think the location was changed to the sea was because they wanted to make more stories that involved other places like the sea. I feel like Dilys’ design was changed to make her look younger. Even though Series 5 of Fireman Sam is the best, I didn’t really like Dilys in Series 5. A lot of people complain about the changes in the CGI series but they don’t realize that Series 5 also has lots of changes too. The vehicle designs were changed in Series 5 but no one cared. But everyone cares about all that they changed in the CGI Series. Another thing that they did in CGI was add more characters. The main cast of the show was so small in Series 1-5 and I’m kind glad they introduced more characters in the CGI series. But still have to admit the CGI series does has its flaws. The animation isn’t the best and I hate how they made a Elvis a complete idiot.

9:37 took me 3 seconds until I got that clever adult joke!! Finally,an adult joke that isn’t a blatant sex joke and one that actually requires you to think. Well done
Good review, I’ve honestly only seen MWFN (Which I used to like, but looking at the Video Brinquedo-esque animation and slow pacing, I see why it hasn’t aged well at all) and NITL (Which was decent and better than MWFN due to it’s well done, colourful looking animation and faster pacing, even though I hate the redesigns for Sly and Gobbo and Mr. Plod now being dumbed down to laughing nearly all the time isn’t any better, along with removing some characters from the original), but I’ll get to watching NTLA and NTLD when I do. Though I’m not fond of the new designs for Noddy, Big Ears, Bumpy, Noddy’s car (Now called Revs for some reason) and Clockwork mouse, along with removing the rest of the cast, you have a point on how kids would not know what these now old are and Modernising Noddy would keep up with the times. And I’ll admit, the bit when you said you liked NTLD was quite surprising.
James A Williams, I’ll give Make Way the benefit of the doubt as it was 2002 (Even though the Jimmy Neutron show came out the same year and looked better). I guess both Make Way and Video Brinquedo do both look better than Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild or even Rapsitte Street Kids...
Well, I doubt you're gonna make friends with James A Williams, given what he makes of the special. And yeah, even I kind of have problems with it, even if I think season 22 is... OK. Probably see it as on par with the black sheep of classic Thomas, season 7, but for a few different reasons, personally.
@@retrogamelover2012 What is wrong with letting other people enjoy what they love? I know he has criticized BWBA, but that doesn't mean that he is persuading anyone to despise it the same way, at least he knows he doesn't go to the point of being an asshole at people over liking something he himself can't. Not everyone likes the same stuff. I like BWBA, but it's baffling people would be met with those that won't make friends with anyone all because of an opinion. I hate The Emoji Movie, but even I never go to the point of being an absolute twat about it. I can disagree all I like, but not to the point I act like an asshole over it.
@@BriceInkling138 I wasn't necessarily trying to cause a fuss like that. I mean, honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I was in the vocal minority of people that saw seasons 22 and onward and didn't think they were completely terrible. I mean, personally, nothing has been more painful of an era to sit through, than series 13-16 of the series. I mean, if the recent episodes were to have that same old, overly repetitive, patronizing and just straight-up pandering levels of rhyming and aliterations that seasons 13-16 had, that probably would've been the kicker for me.
@@retrogamelover2012 I see your point and I believe you. If Season 22-23 and 24-now did bring all these back in almost every single episode, I would have stopped watching before I would have seen what I am missing. But it wasn't the case because despite having good episodes from S13-16 (plus S12 since it counts as the Miller era) like "Happy Birthday, Sir" as an example, these five seasons were already cluttered with some of the worst episodes such as "Henry's Magic Box", "Percy's New Friends", "Saved You!", all five of the S12 Skarloey Railway episodes (including "Push Me, Pull You"), "Wonky Whistle", "Race to the Rescue", "Henry Gets it Wrong", "Pingy Pongy Pick Up", "Happy Hiro", "Percy the Snowman", "Bust My Buffers!" (because it's the TTTE equivalent of a Squidward Torture episode, except worse than any of the BAD Squidward torture scenario episodes), and "Sodor Surprise Day" as examples. I ask you, do we want episodes with this bad writing to happen to the series and characters ever again? And would writing like this make the Andrew Brenner era become a real laughing stock to most people? No.
Honestly I have to agree with the claims you made.I grew up with one of the Noddy Shows(the really bad one with crappy cgi) and looking back at it and other versions with a certain claim in mind,yeah..about the new Reboot-it..yeah its actually pretty good.I actually saw it once and I actually kinda liked it..it did catch my attention even though im not the age that its mainly for.
I actually have a few ideas for my own Noddy reboot. One of them is making Clockwork Mouse more of a mad scientist. Also, I plan to have Big Ears lock his greater magic powers behind is true name for safety reasons.
I don't understand why people hate Make Way for Noddy. It's a good and accurate reboot! Almost everything is the same as in Toyland Adventures. The characters' personalities (with the exceptions of Sly and Gobbo) are the same as in Toyland Adventures. The characters' designs (with the exceptions of Diana Doll and Mr. Sparks) are the same as in Toyland Adventures. And the animation is much better than the animation in CGI Fireman Sam. So yeah, Make Way for Noddy doesn't deserve any hate! Besides, we all know what came after Make Way for Noddy: Noddy Toyland Detective and Noddy in Toyland.
OMG I grew up on The Noddy Shop TV series! Watched it all the time on PBS. Only just recently seen Noddy Toyland Adventures, when searching for 'The Noddy Shop' episodes. BTW I'm American. :)
Me too! But despite remembering a lot of it, I didn't love it as much as I did Dragon Tales as a kid. Now looking back, it really was something special!
15:10 Forgive me for interrupting your review, but some of the Cosgrove Hall shows you've shown here actually predate 'Noddy in Toyland', such as 'The Wind in the Willows', 'Dangermouse', 'Count Duckula', 'Cockleshell Bay' and of course, 'The BFG'.
Great review James A Williams I totally agree with you about how you would review a remake/reboot and everything you said from 0:00 - 13:05 and I would admit I've mostly seen Noddy's Toyland Adventures when I was a little kid not just Thomas The Tank Engine on my VHS set back when I was little and I still watch it but not as often as mostly: Thomas The Tank Engine, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls As we speak. I sometimes also watch Postman Pat (Series 1 to Series 2) and Fireman Sam (Series 1 to Series 4) because I used to watch those shows when I was younger. And I even watched Make Way For Noddy and Noddy in Toyland but I didn't seem to enjoy them at all because I prefer Noddy's Toyland Adventures because it gives me memories when I used to watch it on my VHS set besides my old Thomas the tank engine and Friends tapes. I think I should re watch Noddy's Toyland Adventures again someday. And also ignore the haters because they don't have a life and have no childhood within them but us fans of our favourite tv shows or movies that are part of our interest for life care about what it was like back in it's glory days don't you agree? You are the best reviewer I've seen on RUclips besides other reviewers like: Dalek44 and Nostalgic Critic. ;) Keep up the great work.
3:03 Most of this is well thought out I will admit. Though that's a little slight error, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is more of a retelling more faithful to the book it's based on. Mostly because author Roald Dahl hated the original and his widow asked Warner Brothers to do another one. Remake would be more like King Kong (1976 or 2005) where there is no pre-existing source material like a book or play. Sure some of them are based on books, but they mostly go with remaking the more popular depiction instead of doing something different or looking at the source material. Though it's not necessarily wrong, but you shouldn't do it shot-for-shot like Pyscho or else what's the point? And they do change some things or re-in vision a scene as how the director sees it, while still making homages to the previous work.8:03 I wouldn't say all the people didn't put in effort, some did. Though it's a bit funny since you actually like the revival series, in your Bob the Builder video.Side Notes: I wonder if those Teddy bear characters inspired by the famous bears from a certain fairy tale.19:06-20:26 Though the jack-in-the-box scaring the police officer did made me laugh, but the pacing I will agree is way to slow and the CGI a bit too stiff.25:57-26:51 I will say those goblins in the 3rd incarnation look more like elves.
Let those haters say what they want to say, they have forgotten the days when child shows were written by people who know how a show is supposed to be. They have forgotten that kid shows are for kids when that nonsense was made by adults. If you enjoy making these videos and if your fans enjoy your videos than that is all that matters.
I have to agree with every little thing that is said here. I do a series of rants in character with a character I created who is a supernatural version of a comedian who passed away in 1982 and this character rants about things like terrible fanfiction, remakes, bad sequels, video games, internet trolls, issues of society and the like. One rant I did as the character was about television shows specifically modern sitcoms and yet this one stupid person who thought that said character was real and that I was that character said that I shouldn't be waiting on shows that aren't for my demographic...and apparently that includes Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows. Uhhhh....just because those shows are for kids doesn't mean a thing to me, anyone can talk about those crappy DComs or Nickelodeon shows (just look at PieGuyRulz, he reviews Spongebob and Quintonreviews very much did an entire series of video analyzing Icarly and Sam and Cat and Victorius). I said that I found the use of fake laughter or 'laugh tracks' that were obviously recorded to be annoying. Yeeeeeeah, i'm sorry but it's not humorous at all, and if it was real comedy and NOT poorly written attempts at it...then maybe just maybe the canned laughter wouldn't be so much of a problem. Also...yeah, Disney Channel makes money off shows like Hannah Montana and those awful Jonas Brothers shows because we're AWARE they are greedy assholes and also because they have the habit of trying to make a music star out of their teen bop stars and yeah, we are AWARE that High School Musical is nothing but a cash cow. In addition to this, HSM practically IS a Grease knock-off so my way of describing the first movie as a blatant copy of the movie musical wasn't too far off, heck in interviews they even did say it was going to be 'Grease 3' and referred to it as such. And yeah, I am AWARE that there was a crap-ton of merchandise for the movie as a whole including the soundtracks for all three movies. My question is though...seriously, what kid actually enjoys that movie? And the same goes for Descendants too. And regarding how I explain that classic sitcoms have a live audience as opposed to recorded laugh tracks, it's true. And that's the difference between a show like Blackadder or Fawlty Towers and a show like Jonas, A Pair Of Kings, Suite Life On Deck and other shows of that name. And also about According To Jim...yeah, I am aware that the show got cancelled, but over here where i'm from (New Zealand) there are such a thing as re-runs (actually re-runs are common in all countries) and for the longest time According To Jim aired on TV 3. I'm sorry but...was THAT show ever popular? I consider Jim Belushi to be the lesser version of his late brother anyway, he's only truly good at anything when he's voice acting. I don't recall According To Jim having the same level of fandom and appreciation as any other sitcom, because it's a terrible series overall. And yet this person was stupid enough to call me out on this when all this time he was arguing with a character and not the actual me, yeah i'm aware most kids these days watch their tv shows online and play games...what? Does he think that I live in the early 80's or 90's or something? Well there was this other user who thought the computer I used was a Windows 95, so it's possible that both this guy and this other user are probably still stuck in the past mindset wise. Besides...I don't think you can even get a Windows 95 computer in this day and age. Also....for the record, the argument isn't even a valid one because said person not only was trolling (rather stupidly) but also that he was arguing with a character of mine that doesn't even exist. 'Yeah, spoiler alert...the character you have been arguing with isn't real and you are a delusional nutcase'. I support you and your videos, a lot and I hope you keep up the good work.
So the Noddy reboot only had Noddy, Big Ears, that dog and his car while everything else are just modern toys from the 2010's because so it's like young kids these days never saw Noddy before. I watched a bit of Noddy when I was younger, and to be honest, I don't mind the changes over the years. Well I don't really care about it as much as Thomas.
I don't know about you, but it takes me about three fucking years to watch a reboot so bad that it had nothing but shitty episodes, shitty characters, shitty jokes, shitty humour, shitty personalities, and shitty material that betrays and ignores its-own-self. Toyland Detective is just an idea shoved out of nowhere, and really, it's like they same way how HiT ruined Bob the Builder in 2015. Thomas is still alright since it's not SJW-ized and we all understand why Henry and Edward returned to their old homes, so Noddy just got buttfucked and really, the new characters all appear out of nowhere without an introductory episode whatsoever, and I'm glad that reboot was cancelled after two damn seasons in 2017, because Dreamworks knew it was a horrible idea anyway. So therefore, the Noddy franchise just fucking died.
*reads video title* Oh good I love these types of videos from James *looks at the top of the screen at **1:25* Oh my god my I'm mentioned in the video!
I've been watching episodes of Noddy's toyland adventures, and I noticed something about Mr jumbo. In the third episode of season 4 "Noddy and the treasure map", Mr jumbo says: "a lot of toys think I should live in a ditch. I don't know why. I do my best, I'm never rude." And in the same episode he doubts his own idea. Then, in episode 8 of the same season "Noddy and the bouncing ball", when Mr jumbo gets hit by bumpy dog's ball, he instantly assumes that someone threw it at him out of spite. I know I might be talking out my backside, but it does sound like Mr jumbo (in toyland adventures, anyway) is secretly depresso espresso
I have seen noddy toyland detective on abc kids and I was pretty okay with the changes. I mean they give revs a mouth which was different from the orginal series. but it's still okay.
12:53 😂 "Instead of make THESE THINGS." That really got me laughing, but that's very true. These reboots can not replace the original work. I mean I'm used to the CGI Thomas and Bob the Builder, but I will always love the model era of both show.
Make way feels like a sequel to Toylans Adventures Reason 1: The Characters were the same Reason 2: the setting was the same Reason 3: the humor was the same
A few weeks ago my little sister was watching teen titans go and I decided to show her an episode of the original teen titans and now she loves the old series more (my point kids aren’t dumb and now good quality)
From my own theories I believe that lots of children were terrified of Sly and Gobbos original appearances, which makes me to believe that would be the reason why the 2009 reboot redesigned them. HOWEVER it’s one thing to redesign a character to appeal to the modern demographic. It’s ANOTHER to completely change their appearances and switch their names around (Which makes no sense my god.). Like my god one can make the goblins less scary while keeping original liberties of them. You know, the GOBLIN PART?! Because that’s what made them iconic to begin with. I just don’t understand why they did this…
I think when we said to review Thomas & Friends, we meant the series as a whole, like how you did with Fireman Sam, Bob the Builder, and Postman Pat. Not just BWBA.
Season 22 of Thomas and Friends has already released all of it's episodes on youtube, plus the movie if you're lucky. I've also heard from one reviewer/ranter that the episode 'Counting on Nia' where Nia had difficulty recognising the number symbols had made some parents cry because it reminded them of the hardships of getting to know everything in the western world. Understandable and unique, though why Thomas of all places, plus doesn't Nia's valve dials have numbers too?
Plus, there was that episode where James pretty much was waiting for repairs and basically started to get what almost seemed like a hint of PTSD (can't really blame him for that, given his high-speed crash into the sheds), which I'll admit, even if it was probably more implicit if anything, is actually kind of an interesting thing to bring up in a Thomas episode. Especially when trauma is kind of a universal thing, after all, which kind of seems like something that could lead to some interesting material to work with, if executed well in a family show.
I remember watching Noddy, but mostly the intro and I remember parts of only couple episodes and those twin villain-guys. (Mid 2000s one only - Make Way for Noddy) I don't know why I found him cute for some reason back then. For the Thomas thing, what the heck happened anyway? I'm not really a TV person anymore, so...
I didn't watch the 80's series. Though I did grow up with the one in the early 2000's. I like both series but the 80's one has more of a charm like other Claymation shows from the time.
I remember a Toyland Detective episode where those small pirate dolls wanted to find some treasure in some sort of palace garden (why a palace?) but needed Noddy to help them *stop giving up* Why?!
Noddy og charachters in 10 words or less Noddy-Taxi! Big Ears-I'm getting Santa Claus vibes. Officer Plod-JASSSTTEEEECE Clockwork Mouse-As Himself Tessie-Kawaii. Mr Wobbly Man-I feel dizzy Trixi--Oop sorry I mean Martha monkey Tubby bear-Og Norman Mrs and mr tubby bear-Fodder. The goblins-We are so evil in the most obvious way. That's all I remember anyway.
Can you talk about the pingu or tugs series? Also, I think the first part of the video should have been a video all on its own. And I vividly remember make way for noddy on PBS here in America.
Always liked Noddy growing up. I remember being creeped out by Sly's 'Bicycle Bell' spell to repair Big-Ear's Bicycle. I also quite like the animated style of Toyland Detective as it kinda has that 'Nintendo Wii U game' look to it. I do recall a Noddy animation on a 'Children's TV favourites' VHS called 'Noddy & the Race' that looked like it was from a Noddy animated series but I found nothing about it so I dont know if it was a pilot episode or it was made exclusive for that video.
It’s not a reboot, but maybe you could talk about one of my favorite cartoons growing up, Little Bear. It’s a Canadian show created by the late Maurice Sendak (the author of Where the Wild Things Are), but it does actually feel like one of the British shows you mentioned with it’s laid-back tone, calming atmosphere, and charming characters. And Little Bear just makes you feel really warm inside. 😊
It’s definitely worth the watch; my mom and I still watch old episodes from time to time. The only other fact people seem to know about the show is that one of the head writers was Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games trilogy.
@@JamesAWilliams The 2017 versions of the Wacky Racers are so...ANNOYING !!!!!!! And I thought "Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get A Clue", "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo" "Yabba-Dabba Dinosaurs", "Scooby-Doo ( 2002 )" "The Flintstones ( 1994 )", "Yogi Bear ( 2010 )", "Top Cat: The Movie", "Scoob !", "Velma ( 2023 ), "The Banana Splits Movie", "Jellystone", "Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins", "Top Cat Begins", "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law", "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" and the DC Comics/H-B thing "Hanna-Barbera Beyond" were terribly awful attempts at rebooting Hanna-Barbera cartoons...Sheesh.
I think a problem with Noddy's CGI series has to do with the stories themselves. If Noddy, the book collection, became the huge success we all know, that's due to Enid Blyton, the writer, and her talent for creating a whole new world of captivating characters and adventures like nothing else before. Several of Noddy's Toyland Adventures episodes followed the stories from the books, while others remained faithful to the original idea if anything. The CGI show from the 90s had a completely different style of story telling, and felt like they were working on the animation while quickly coming up with new stories for Noddy at the same time.
Hold on what were your thoughts on Noddy’s voice in Make way? In my opinion, Edward Chun does a really enjoyable voice for Noddy, it makes Noddy sound so adorable
Oh my God it looks like not only the changes but the other thing which it would be the mouth looks similar to the mouth from the car from team Umizoomi remember

Tbh, a lot of the reason why RUclipsrs talk about kids shows is due to nostalgia. :)
Yeah. Nostalgia is what I look forward in past shows in life. That is why I rewatch them. No one should be mad about it!
Absolutely agreed. In 2020 I came back to T&F, then Looney Tunes the following year. This year... 1980s Fireman Sam.
Not always. The example of Caddicarus reviewing Peppa Pig ain't because of the nostlagia, that show premiered when he was around 10 years old.

Same! I grew up with Make Way for Noddy as well, and watched the 90s series on VHS tapes I owned.
Wilder Wonka I actually, *somehow* grew up with Make Way and Toyland Adventures.
I also grew up with Make Way for Noddy, and I really enjoyed my DVD 'Catch a Falling Star' years ago.
For me it was the Bob The Builder reboot video
What the heck, did Big Ears really slap Noddy!? Which episode, which series?
13:20 lol never mind 😂
30:14 one thing I didn't like with Noddy Toyland Detective is that they decided to make Big Ears a toy brownie since in previous shows he wasn't actually a toy he was a real brownie and also I found out that in the US dub of the show they changed Big Ears name to Mr Squeaks for some reason
I know why (if you want me to tell you, i will on another commentary

Well, maybe show them season 5 of Fireman Sam as well. That one wasn't that bad, all things considered.

You know what, I think Jay Exci made a rather legitimate argument for why the statement of why liking something from a format or genre, that was mostly targeted at a younger audience, is "childish" is just deeply flawed;
Abandoning something you liked since you were a child, from simply out of fear of coming off as immature or childish to everyone else isn't a sign of growing up. It's more often than not a sign of insecurity of one's self or simply a sign of pressure coming from people being conditioned in society to believe that it's the "sensible" thing to do.
I removed the 2 other comments I made in favor of a better one:
I totally agree that Pingu is a family show.
Here's what I remember about each series you mentioned:
I recall watching The Noddy Shop (which Toyland Adventures was a part of) it when I was younger.
Wait, you’re female? I never knew that.

But certain ones, like Fireman Sam and Bob The Builder just suck, they changed some of the shows I liked. Teletubbies Reboot IMO, slightly creepy with the Tiddlytubbies but a good cast such as Jim Broadbent and David Walliams.

Called: “The further Adventures of Noddy” and only one episode is found
I feel you, James. I don't like it when people treat me badly either. But I don't let it get me down for my whole life
Here's probably why they got rid of Mr.
Like, "Noddy this" or "Noddy that."
Another thing that I like about MWFN is that it gave more attention to the secondary characters, something I feel NTA was kinda lacking.

But it wasn't the case because despite having good episodes from S13-16 (plus S12 since it counts as the Miller era) like "Happy Birthday, Sir" as an example, these five seasons were already cluttered with some of the worst episodes such as "Henry's Magic Box", "Percy's New Friends", "Saved You!", all five of the S12 Skarloey Railway episodes (including "Push Me, Pull You"), "Wonky Whistle", "Race to the Rescue", "Henry Gets it Wrong", "Pingy Pongy Pick Up", "Happy Hiro", "Percy the Snowman", "Bust My Buffers!" I used to watch the animated noddy every morning before going to primary school. I quite enjoyed it although I watched the original 90s one too
I don't understand why people hate Make Way for Noddy.
PLEASE rip Rupert Bear: Follow The Magic a new one
In my opinion, Rupert Bear : Follow the Magic is one of my Favourite Shows of all time.
Make Way for Noddy looks a bit like the Playhouse Disney show, Handy Manny (specifically Season 1 and the 2004 Pilot)
I guess I'm not the only one who enjoys Noddy: Toyland Detective.
Me too
3:03 Most of this is well thought out I will admit.
Why did he drive on the right in the 2016 reboot?
Why is Dinah Doll voiced by an ADULT in the UK dub of "Make Way for Noddy"? It's like what they did with Scamp in the Lady and the Tramp sequel...
Nice to see someone other than steve reviews talking about british kids shows
So the Noddy reboot only had Noddy, Big Ears, that dog and his car while everything else are just modern toys from the 2010's because so it's like young kids these days never saw Noddy before. I watched a bit of Noddy when I was younger, and to be honest, I don't mind the changes over the years. Well I don't really care about it as much as Thomas.
MrDankEngine 1999 EDCP so what does that make Noddy then if he is still an old toy. A Christmas toy??????
Also Big Ears is called Mr. Squeaks in the American dub of Noddy Toyland Detective for some reason
BriceGum [rockman138] and I wonder what are you opinions on CGI Fireman Sam?
Thanks for the shoutout James!
I like Noddy
The Magic School Bus Rides again is not a Reboot it's a continuation.
Are talking to me? If so, why isn't your reply in my reply section?
13:05 The topic begins.
Charlie and the chocolate factory wasn’t a remake, it was another adaptation of the same source material.
*reads video title* Oh good I love these types of videos from James
*looks at the top of the screen at **1:25* Oh my god my I'm mentioned in the video!
Please can do thoughts on the Pingu seasons?

@@TheDeonProductionsChannel That's technically not a reboot request.
I hate the fact in Make way for Noddy that Big Ears has a Different Beard.

A few weeks ago my little sister was watching teen titans go and I decided to show her an episode of the original teen titans and now she loves the old series more (my point kids aren’t dumb and now good quality)
Noddy was an Uber before he was cool
Noddy characters : Main : Noddy , bumpy dog , big ears , car .
side : Plod , pink cat ETC .
Villain : Sly and Gobbo , Martha monkey , blue bounce ball , master tubby bear , Unicorns ( reboot ) .
Hey, you forgot about my crush!
I just don’t understand why they did this…
13:04 to skip to the actual review.
I think when we said to review Thomas & Friends, we meant the series as a whole, like how you did with Fireman Sam, Bob the Builder, and Postman Pat. Not just BWBA.
Noddy has anime eyes in Noddy Toyland Detective!
And other characters too!
Was it NickOnPlanetRipple’s overview of that episode?
@@joachsworld6364 Yep.
I remember watching this show as a kid
Series 1 to 3 of Noddy from 1992 to 1994 are by far the best.
In other news I heard that both Fireman Sam and Postman Pat were finally canceled which is a well needed sigh of relief.
Not in Sam's case
I remember a Toyland Detective episode where those small pirate dolls wanted to find some treasure in some sort of palace garden (why a palace?) but needed Noddy to help them *stop giving up*

Oh yeah. I can remember watching only one episode of Little Bear on a BBC Toybox VHS.
It’s definitely worth the watch; my mom and I still watch old episodes from time to time. The only other fact people seem to know about the show is that one of the head writers was Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games trilogy.
I watched Little Bear as a kid. The only episode I remember is the Winter Solstice one, which I watched over and over.

@@EschuchenosOficial and I know ur crush!
The elephant sounds like Henry
Is it just me or does noddy in toyland look like postman pat the movie on a lower budget
I like the concept of Noddy being a detective. Sort of makes it stand out from the others.
I think the next Noddy series will come out in 2024 or 2026.
I hope that it’s a spin-off
Hold on what were your thoughts on Noddy’s voice in Make way?
In my opinion, Edward Chun does a really enjoyable voice for Noddy, it makes Noddy sound so adorable
