Unfortunately, I had already "grown out of _Thomas"_ by the time this era started. But after watching a good chunk of the episodes after discovering this channel, I can safely say that this was definitely the Renaissance of _Thomas and Friends._ it got the closest to feeling like the Early Model Era, just in a different medium.
In my case, I actually stopped watching Thomas for like 2 years since I felt burned out from the Miller Era (especially Season 15), but episodes like Henry's Hero definitely roped me right back in.

I love the Brenner Era, I love The Unlucky Tug and I love this video, the Brenner Era is flawed but deserves much love and I’m glad someone gave it some.
I stopped watching during the transition to CGI (with Misty Island being the last Thomas Product I ever watched before I grew out of it). Tug has reignited my love for the show and I really can’t wait to watch these Brenner seasons.
A lot of people say Daisy was great in this era but I also think Edward was great in tis era. He was a great father figure to Thomas and Phiilip and I love his realtionship with Gordon and James. He was always in his character and 0 bad episodes.
Imo I actually really like CGI Daisy, Edward, Duck, Mavis, Salty, Cranky, BillBen, Toad and Duncan. James and Gordon were extremely exaggerated besides examples like S21 Gordon or S20 James, thomas emily and percy were inconsistent, Oliver and most narrow gauge were after thoughts, and dear God henry and toby wtf went wrong
Ah, the Brenner Era. The arguably better seasons of Thomas. Despite it not having the same feel as the classic era of Thomas, it managed to steal some of that magic and throw it back into the slowly dying show.
Right only 500 views this sucks we need to watch these more. At least a thousand! Come on guys we need to revive this beautiful channel. Watch every video!
I really do miss this era of Thomas & Friends. I remember watching a clip of Wayward Winston on RUclips back in 2013, and it caught my interest more than the REALLY bad Miller episodes. I digged a little further and found the full episode as well as some more episodes. Whenever I look back on them, I feel nostalgia. The first five to seven seasons will always be my favorite era of the show, but this era is a close second. Not every episode from Seasons 17-21 is perfect, but I can say it is something I can rewatch and find a lot of enjoyment, which is a lot more what I have to say about it than the Miller Era. I do feel a little sad whenever I remember what came after Season 21, but Seasons 17-21 will forever be a special era to me.
Lets not forget that scruff and charlie got to appear one last time in the great race, during the "will you wont you take me to the railway show" musical number

I absolutely love the Brenner era. Improved so much on Thomas after seasons 8-16. Shame Mattel had other plans, but I'll never forget Brenner for how awesome it was. Initially, I wanted to call season 21 my favourite season, because I enjoyed 2017, but I'll go with season 20 now. It's absolutely awesome, so was season 21. My ranking for the Brenner era is actually the same as yours. 🙂
After All Engines Go Mattel should really be acquired along with the media franchises by NBCUniversal with Hit Entertainment's successor being Universal Television as soon as possible.

Yeah, I remember this. The one thing that irked, irritated and frustrated me to no end was - you guessed it - how the very WORST of James was brought out so much that I began to hate this character with a burning passion and still most likely do.
But do you what I think is the worst part of this era? It's the fact that it was losing popularity thanks to Paw Patrol (or in my eyes Piss Portrayed) if this new show hadn't existed, do you think children would've continued watching Thomas, and the Brenner era would continue for generations?
I like these types of characters (James, Rainbow Dash, Kai, etc.) but hate it when they become "the selfish one" for no reason, because that isn't good writing.
In an ideal world, Series 20 would have been the last series produced for the franchise and Journey Beyond Sodor would have had an airtight plot and been an ideal conclusion for the show.

Interesting how the classic series is the first 5 seasons and the Brenner Era is also 5 seasons. Obviously a coincidence but I find that very interesting indeed. If you include season 6 and 7 for okay/good seasons to watch then roughly half the seasons of Thomas and friends aren't really that great which is just sad in my opinion. It gives a bad impression on a show that was once great and loved by all not just kids.
Thomas Series 21 might be your last series or dvd to watch but season 24 has another better ending for the royal engine it has many callbacks to Thomas’s past from magic railroad your hated movie, gallant old, lady hats birthday and more even its not your favorite season you should give it a chance and go over it in the retrospective of the seasons❤😊
The only downer things about this era are: Percy and Toby and Henry being chickens, I find Emily annoying (and her whistle), James being cockier and Gordon being grumpier than ever, Thomas in between cheeky and sensible, Sir being a clumsy buffoon, too much humor comedy, and the narrator having less lines.

Rocky Rescue should’ve been an Edward episode, not a Thomas episode. I’m genuinely annoyed and frustrated that Rocky Rescue wasn’t an Edward starring episode where Edward teaches the Sodor search and rescue team how to work together to re rail Rocky.
I actually agree with you, and it’s not because I grew up watching the UK dub. A lot of the US voices for the characters just sound too goofy and too American for Thomas in my opinion.

As someone who holds the model era sacrosanct to the cgi era; these seasons made me actually like the cgi era more than I’d ever done before.

I think the flanderisation was more the demand of the higher ups at Mattel.
