My only problem with it is the fact that he dosen’t get the moral of this film, despite the fact that they literally flat out said it while Thoms and the logging locos were in the tunnel
You know what Magic Railroad feels like to me? It's the Thomas equivalent to Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), how both have had troubled productions, meddling from the higher ups, an overly convoluted story, and their poor quality have done so much damage to their respective brands that they still linger today But they both have redeeming qualities

Fun fact: Hero of the Rails isn't the first Thomas production to have character voices (Japanese dub, Magic Railroad) or lip-synching (season 12), but it is the first to have both, because season 12 wasn't released in Japan. How revolutionary.
@@_MyNameIsAJ_ Yeah, knowing that this Hybrid was considered for a few years until HiT pulled the switch to Full CGI, in order to save costs during UK Animation Tax Breaks. It’s lucky that they didn't continue that hybrid, otherwise Thomas's Japan popularity would've plumbed it.
@@bartzacky9639 Why Japanese children in particular? Or had other audiences just suffered enough from hybrid Edward's face, and so Japan was one of the lucky few spared from the trauma?
In my opinion TAB did one thing better than S1. And this one thing is Edward. We saw more of his realtionship with Thomas. The only time we saw Edward as a father figure to Thomas in S1 was one moment in "Thomas and the Trucks". But this movie we saw much more scene where Edward is a father figure to Thomas.
Honestly, I genuinely don’t understand why they couldn’t just add a berth to Tidmouth sheds for Rosie in season 17 and have Edward be the main character that Rosie interacts with and basically be a father figure for her. Edward and Rosie would have been a great duo and definitely have kept Edward relevant throughout the brenner era.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 well it should have been and they also should done with Rosie what they did with Emily in calling all engines and add a berth to Tidmouth sheds.

When I first watched Blue Mountain Mystery, I really liked the design of the Blue Mountain Quarry, as an updated version of the slate mine, it's just a shame we only saw the narrow gauge engines there when their line is so beautiful. They proved they could capture the beauty in one episode, but never revisited the rest of the line, as characters were only seen in their designated zone, Salty at the docks and so on.
Thomas’ behavior in _Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure_ while often criticized by CGI-era fans, makes sense if you recall the episode before SLOTLT, _Who’s Geoffrey?_ as Thomas has been let off the hook for too long by Sir Topham Hatt, so when he screws up big time, He gets really, really, REALLY mad, and regrets his decision of giving Thomas too much mercy.
I think the reason is because he tried to be coxing to Thomas in who’s Geoffrey but when he tried to have Thomas understand the lesson and Thomas though that he blamed Geoffrey for breaking the tea pot sir topham hatt realized he had to go shouting to get Thomas to learn
@@ryanfuller912Mate, the whole dynamite thing happened because Thomas didn't warn Ryan about the bad coal, along with the fact that Ryan was in front of Thomas when he was shunting the lit dynamite, so Sir Topham Hatt getting angry at him there was actually justified. And Thomas also wasted a lot of dynamite, which would be pretty expensive.
Just like the annual Star Wars movies, I also really miss the annual Thomas movies. The hype that we as fans would get every year for what the new movie would be like was indescribable. Man those were great times!!
@@vincentsowell2314 which is why I disagree with Misty Island Rescue being dead last. I mean, yes, there a lot of problems with it, but what it doesn’t do is throw Train Engine Realism into the trash.
Been about a year since I first saw this masterpiece of a video and I think it was the biggest contribution to me rediscovering Thomas after a decade and a half. I'm very grateful for its existence.
@@cdangelo1843 I see. And what of the considerable amount of Thomas fans that don’t consider season 1 and season 21 to be the same show? Does “Old Thomas”conjure up memories of CGI Thomas pre-BWBA, or models and props on a real physical layout? Not asking to be judgmental about your preferences for the record, just genuinely curious.
just because we tell mattel to do something no matter if we say nicely or not, doesn't mean they will. in fact, they won't. they are already devoted to all engines go. as this very dude you are watching has said before himself, "big corporations are not your friend."
My favorite Thomas movie in the entire franchise is "The Great Discovery" for a number of reasons 1. I remember seeing this in the movie theater back in 2008 and being absolutely blown away by how many model props were used. 2. The storyline is absolutely incredible!!!! 3. This movie is so unique because of the narration by Mr. Pierce Brosnan!!!!! And he did a phenomenal job!!!! Pierce was a nice change from hearing Michael Brandon all the time (No tea no shade Mike) 4. Nostalgia sweet nostalgia!!!! 5. The "Thomas, You're The Leader" song is such a bop!!!!! What a masterpiece!!! It slaps so hard and it truly confirms that Thomas is the leader of the track!!!! What an incredible outro to the HIT Entertainment era of Thomas!!!! 10 out of 10!!!!!
Both _Blue Mountain Mystery_ and _Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure_ are absolutely phenomenal. Especially compared to _Misty Island Rescue._ Hearing Tug rage about it still cracks me up to this day. The range of quality between installments is honestly hard to believe.
For the BMM movie, i heard that the crew behind it went to the Talyllyn Railway to measure the engines' lengths, widths and heights in order to get the Narrow Guage Engines correctly and realistically sized in the movie.
The only thing I liked about Misty Island Rescue was at the end, when Thomas, Edward, Gordon, James, and Sir Topham Hatt are on misty Island, Sir Topham Hatt throws his hat in the air and loses it in the mist. Thomas then points out that he lost his hat, and then, Sir Topham Hatt says this. "Don't worry. I can find another hat, but I will never find another Thomas.". That made me think back on how far Thomas came over the years and reminded me that out of all the times that the series has gone downhill, there was always one and only Thomas.
A passionate quote to be sure, but it's pretty ironic considering Thomas' real life history. All the E2s in real life were scrapped. Either he can never find another E2 like Thomas because the rest were scrapped or he can't ever find another engine with same the personality and cheekiness as Thomas. Or could be a mix of both
I love that line but in my AU I’m going to add a scene in the great discovery where the fat controller comes to great waterton and he was happy to see Thomas again he threw his hat in the air and disappeared into the town and Thomas says “sir your hat!” And the fat controller says “don’t worry I can find another hat but I’ll never find another Thomas” so yeah (also misty island rescue isn’t canon on my AU so bear that in mind”

Since Merlin was brought up, I think it would've been beneficial to point out that his character was one of the few in the CGI series to actually have his character tie back into the actual engine he was based on. Merlin, as an engine, was based on one particular engine from the "King Arthur" class of engines. During WWII, this particular engine was outfitted with 2 additional funnels. This was done with the intent of making it so that the steam that puffs out from the funnels would be more spread out, allowing the engine to be cloaked underneath a hefty layer of steam, making it harder for aerial bombers to hit the engine during supply runs. Alas, the modifications didn't work, and the engine was swiftly reverted back to it's original state. Merlin's name is in reference to the famous wizard of the same name from the King Arthur tales, in nod to the namesake of his class. Not only that, but his personality quirk of genuinely believing he can go invisible is in reference to the purpose of his additional funnels being to cloak him from above.
This made me realise that Thomas might be Shin Megami Tensei for kids considering it’s based off of real trains and SMT is based off of demon mythology Why did I say this
For Misty Island Rescue, I had just gotten this idea but here goes; What if Thomas was on Sodor the whole time? Say, in this version of the movie... rather then have it be a separate island just there for some reason and have it never be explained and break countless reasons in the book- What if Thomas instead ended up back on Sodor (or even another part of the British Isles) during a misty island. What happened was, following a severe hurricane, the ship taking Thomas to the Mainland was caught up in said storm. Swept up in the chaos, Thomas's raft is sent widely off course and ends up running aground on what we (the audience) assume is Misty Island. Thomas meets the Logging Loco's and we learn the railway was a private one, originally used for timber extraction, to help fuel the growing industry on the island when the opening of a New Railway, far closer to the towns and cities of the island, made this one mute as it had to connect through a long winding track into thick forests and valleys, which made the journey long and time consuming. Thus, the railway closed down and was left almost completely abandoned, say for the small community who relied on the railway for its lively hoods. Thus explaining why the trio of engines still work, are working, and the reason for and motivation as to why they wouldn't wanna leave there home. To them, its there everything and the only life they have ever known. The search goes on, much like what was seen in TatGD, but now the Sodor Rescue Center plays a much bigger part. Eventually the lost railway is located once more and Thomas is found. The 3 Logging loco's are offered a place on Sodor but turn it down so they can stay with their "family" on the lost railway. I tried. I really did...

@BlueCometEntertainment347 I dont. I watched other thomas movies, and there are some really good ones too. There are so.e weird moments, like when thomas rides on the narrow gage tracks, but it isn't like misty Island rescue convoluted. But if you like or dislike something I dont or do, that's ok :)
With great respect, the characters in The Adventure Begins are in perfect character in it like in Series 1, apart from Henry's worried trait so no flanderized. Thomas' cheeky side is present in it at one bit when he woke Gordon up from his nap so he does has his cheeky side in TAB.
The impatient part is also present where he pulls the truck and the coaches, even making remark of pulling train is easier than the big engine said while pulling invisible trains
Another thing is that Henry isn't in his old shape, he's still based on the Black 5 Locomotive throughout the film. But before the Flying Kipper crash, he was based on an A1 Pacific and a C1 Atlantic (He was an experimental engine in real life).
I love both Calling All Engines and Day of the Diesels. They are great and highly underrated. The Great Discovery was a great send off to the model era. I also think that Hero of the Rails is really overrated.
And the chase with Diesel I also kind of liked and the after credits. The visuals and music are also on point and at least it has no bouncing. Basically the rest is flawed though.

I watched Legend of the Lost Treasure for the first time last week. Man, it was phenomenal. I also just finished Blue Mountain Mystery today and it was also stellar.
Regarding Ryan in SLOTLT, I am personally very glad he was not portrayed as overconfident and dismissive. Given that Ryan may have been named after Ryan Hagan, one of the chief voices in the Thomas Fandom, having Ryan be an overconfident, dismissive, and unpleasant character would have felt, to me, like a slap in the face to the Thomas fans, as if they would have seemed to imply that that is how the writers viewed the Thomas fandom as a whole. It really worried me in the months leading up to the movie, and I am glad that in the end they not only changed Ryan's personality, but changed it to something workable. In regards to the idea of Ryan being a douche and making Thomas feel threatened, my take on it would be this: Instead of having Ryan be unlikeable, maybe emphasize him being a new engine, and that he is trying REALLY hard to prove himself, but because he is trying so hard, he keeps making mistakes, which causes even more delays on the Harwick Branch Line construction, which, coupled with having to relay the line to avoid the cavern, causes the project to fall extremely behind schedule, which aggravates the Fat Controller to an extreme, explaining TFC's unpleasant attitude through most of the movie. And during all this, Ryan is unknowingly snubbing Thomas, which causes Thomas to feel threatened and unimportant. This would then lead into Thomas playing the prank with the coal, which then causes the dynamite fiasco, and Thomas get in deep trouble with The Fat Controller. However, Thomas saving Ryan causes Ryan to realize he was unknowingly being a bit rude to Thomas, and this leads to the reconciliation scene at the shed in the evening. And during the scene where Thomas is chasing Sailor John, Ryan's quick thinking helps prevent a simultaneous disaster, and thus Ryan finally proves himself. And after Ryan explains everything to TFC, everything is cleared up.
It's worthy of note that Thomas and the Magic Railroad was originally planned to have a human villain of its own, named P. T. Boomer, but he was scrapped because the test audience found him too scary for kids. I think Sailor John was likely supposed to be a rework of him.
The one and only issue with The Great Discovery is Arthur telling Emily about Thomas' comeback even though she was already at Great Waterton when Thomas arrived pushing Stanley (This was fixed in the Japanese dub). Great and nostalgic movie nonetheless.
YES! My favorite video from you is BACK! I also agree that Sodor's Legand of the Lost Treasure is a shockingly great movie. Definitely my absolute favorite of the franchise.
@@vanessasandoval96 Topham was annoyed by Thomas' foolish behavior, hence why he's angry at him. Thomas wasn't intentionally trying to kill Ryan. Ryan was panicking, left quickly, and happened to be in Thomas's way, and Thomas had to think quick to get rid of the dynamite, which was ready to blow up the yard where the construction team is. Him bumping Ryan wasn't because he wants to blow him up; he was helping him go faster so he can get out of the way.
I think what killed Magic Railroad HAD to have been Britt's attraction to Shining Time Station. With it came that family subplot that no one cared about, and took up a majority of the film. The test audiences asked where was Thomas. In the Thomas movie. I feel like the more magic elements can be excused given its Thomas's only real theatrical film so they can go all out. But the Mr. C subplot really complicated what was a pretty simple-to-get story
A video I’ve wanted for the longest time, was so happy for its release in 2021, and this video certainly lived up to the hype, all placements and points brought up were justified, even if I would’ve switched some things around personally, you go in-depth into each movie and all of your segments about them could stand as their own mini-reviews, except TATMR, which we later got a full review/analysis on, definitely one of my favorite videos on your channel, along with another review of certain movies that you’ve uploaded later on…

Thomas saying, _"I'm sure sir Topham Hatt needs a really useful steamy! You'll never be that!"_ Is the same as Diesel saying, *"We diesels are taking over. We are revolutionary!"* Thomas is slowly becoming like the very diesels he hated so much. Talking down on other engines, and practically being racist.
@@charlottestreet3301In CGI the diesels seem pretty nice though? How is Paxton nasty to the steam engines? Or Salty and Mavis? Daisy is like that to everyone, she even makes fun of Diesel once and he got revenge by putting her and Harvey against each other. I did think The Great Discovery was the greatest Thomas movie ever, but after rewatching Tale of the Brave TGD gets knocked down a number in my ranking. The emotional chemistry between Thomas, Percy and James throughout the entire movie is absolutely phenomenal, the 3 major character arcs of each engine and the beautiful heartwarming ending where they all apologize. Then they puff out of the docks while Gator's ship sails away into the sunset with the beautiful music playing!!!! I mean, crackling coalbunkers!!!! What a beautiful movie!!!! Tale of the Brave is my favorite movie in the entire Thomas franchise!!!!! I still love The Great Discovery don't get me wrong, but Tale of the Brave!!! Wooooo!!!! It makes me wanna cry!!!! The ONLY thing I do not like about Tale of the Brave is the cringy ass pop song "Let's Be Brave" at the end. That's it. And that's basically a nitpick. The movie is still so emotionally beautiful!!!! So I'm not going to change my ranking!!!! (A+++)

@@RambunctiousReptilian It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie, but I don’t think Spencer was going as fast as possible, but then again, the J70’s had a top speed of 30 MPH/ 48 KPH, and L&YR 28’s had a top of about 75 MPH/ 120 KPH, so how EITHER of those two could keep up with an A4, that cruises at over 90 MPH for average service speeds is beyond me
I remember when the show changed to CGI. I wasn't watching Thomas at all at that point, but at the time I felt like a lot of the realism was lost and didn't like it. Ironically because there were humans in Magic Railroad, it made the show feel more real to me as a kid who was born a year after it released. It wasn't until around middle school that I stumbled upon the Thomas fandom online when The Adventure Begins came out that I gave CGI Thomas a chance. Up to this point, I've seen all the classic films, Adventure Begins, Lost Treasure, and Great Race. Those films made me realize I was wrong about CGI Thomas losing all its realism (to a certain extent of course but even the models could push it sometimes. I'm saying Thomas would've drowned in those mines in Great Discovery but I love the movie regardless). Seeing how mangled Thomas got in Lost Treasure at one point made my jaw drop. And seeing James crash in Adventure Begins made my jaw drop before Lost Treasure came out. Those scenes just felt so shockingly brutal to me since the train models never really got disfigured to that extent. I haven't watched those films in awhile so my memory might be failing me a bit here. Aside from that, I always wondered if any of the other films were worth a watch, and now I REALLY want to see Blue Mountain Mystery and potentially a couple other ones now that I know more about them. During my first year at college, I made my high school friend/new boyfriend at the time watch these movies out of context. The Diesel subplot in The Great Race had the biggest comedic payoff out of all the movies we watched. Seeing Diesel and the others chasing after him in the background was hilarious and the *end credits*. Oh my goodness the end credits "Over here!" *BROOUUUUUUUUGH* ... "I'm full of surprises!" We were hysterical. I cannot believe Tug undercut the creative genius and payoff of that subplot. Oh I've also seen Day of the Diesels. Seeing CGI Diesel 10 online before I watched that was surreal.
*Unpopular Opinion:* The Great Discovery is The #1 Best Thomas Movie. -Practically made great use of almost every character; Steamies, Diesels, Jack and the Pack, The Narrow Gauge Engines, and others. Everyone was invited for the Final Goodbye to the Models. Still sad about some engines who didn't appear; Donald and Douglas, Oliver, and Daisy. At least we got Diesel 10 on screen for 1 second. -A Great Contrast to the First Thomas Movie. The Magic Railroad; A rough start for a Thomas film and untrue to its canon lore, made by Britt Allcroft who gave life to Thomas. And The Great Discovery; A Great Finale that paid a heartwarming tribute to the Models we all know and love, made by Hit Entertainment, who at one point made, Thomas go downhill. Just goes to show everyone has their Ups and Downs in life. -Introduced the movie as the Model Series's last, and it went in with a BANG on the door with its Musicals and Scores (no rhyme intended), with more catchy songs barging in along the way throughout the movie. -"Thomas, You're The Leader!" is the only silly Thomas Rap Music of the franchise and an Underrated Masterpiece. Gave a sense that the show is moving up to the Modern Times, and away from the Old Era, which was made clear when it played as the secondary outro right after it's first original outro, the Engine Roll Call which also added Stanley in it, I love the amount of small little details and considerations this movie gives knowing it is the final movie of the Model Era, and delivered every tribute and respect for Thomas when they had the opportunity. -The Bridge Scene from the beginning was just... *_Perfection._* Pierce Brosnan's Great Narration, Catchy and Intimidating Music playing in the background that still sticks to me to this day, a great use of the fear of heights (one of my phobias) and also gave us awareness that the bridge was old and unused for years which only adds to the tension, the whole segment actually felt dangerous and frighteningly risky to watch where you actually get to feel how much Thomas's Life was on the line, it wasn't as chaotic as Thomas VS the pirate in Sodor's Lost Treasure, the simplicity of Thomas being an old bridge in the mountains about to fall apart is enough to make someone feel at Death's Door, one of the perfect times where Thomas served as a great point of view of the audience where they actually felt like they were Thomas in a particular scene, Impressive Crashes of the Bridges' Props, and breathtaking camera angles of the bridge falling too. I've never felt so relieved in my life where luckily, no one was hurt, not even Thomas's Drivers. -Expanded the Sodor's Map with more hidden and forgotten locations like The Great Waterton. -which also gave one of the most intense and adrenaline inducing crashes in the franchise involving a newbie character. -The Tower of Great Waterton falling to the ground was *_magnificent._* The fact they manage to recreate the same tower for the final scene is actually impressive. -One of the only few times when Thomas's cheeky behavior didn't let him get away with the repercussions/consequences of his actions, and was immediately overcome with Guilt and instantaneously Regretted it; The most effective punishment of all. -Stanley's Theme, really feels like an original Thomas Classic/Modern Theme Song and it is one of my favorites. -Stanley's Introduction was a very welcoming one, and he is exactly what I would imagine meeting someone new; Curious, Trying to adapt to everyone's lifestyle, getting to know other people, Felt like a new member of the family that one everyone pays attention to and praises, and making someone else feel unimportant and ignored. In a way, he reminds me a lot of Emily in her first introduction, only Stanley's Introduction felt more exciting because of the hype that builds up around him. Because of that, I can clearly understand Thomas's feelings, and relate to him. Yet I also admire the presence of Stanley every time he's on screen because of the fact that's he's new, and maintained that constant unique vibe of his throughout the movie which for me is what made him feel so special, considering everyone basically praises him because he gets along with all of Thomas's Friends. He really feels like a character who could still the whole show, and Thomas wasn't gonna stand idle and do nothing about it, he knew this was his show and the finale of the model series. Hey may be a plot device, but he's a plot device that actually works perfectly with the story, and I wished they used him more in the show because he genuinely feels like a real addition to the steam team, it's a shame he became rarely used and never got a lot of screen time in the CGI era. -The Plot, what else can I say, well written, fun, enjoyable, memorable, kinda dark too like that bridge scene again, and it's one of the Greats. To say that I like this movie, is an understatement. It gave every tribute for the Franchise and the Legacy of the Models before moving up the CGI era, and went all out with its use of Characters, Narration, Intense Dramatic Moments, Score/Musicals, props, and of course, the Great Look of the Models Themselves which were, in my honest opinion, at its peak. Everyone has to dress for a special finale after all. And for that, I love it. This movie gave all the respects it had for the Models Era as well as the franchise as a whole, and for that this movie deserves all the respects it gets in return. And to think this movie, The Great Discovery, is what made me Discover Thomas in the first place, how convenient. _Truly, _*_A Great Discovery._*

To be completely honest in my opinion, HoTR is the top of my list. I rewatched this movie when I had free time at the age I am today (16) and I started to see what little me saw in the movie. And also if I’m embarrassed to admit one of my childhood crushes being on this. This movie had a lot of plot, suspense and the Epic chase scene with Thomas, Hiro and Spencer, is actually pretty jarring for me. Plus the scene that probably scared me as a kid was during the chase scene Hiro starts to break down slowly, hearing his screams for help and desperation as he still keeps going and the worried looks he always gives, the Voice actor for him really did him justice and gave him a moment for us to live for. Sorry about my rant on the movie I just thought it was incredible, I’ve never seen most of the movies, since it’s been a long time since I came back to this show

Mr. Unlucky Tug, what I would love for you to do is to make a Full Movie review on Misty Island Rescue. Make a Review, talk about the maybe tiny good things about it, then talk about everything that makes it terrible, and then express ways of how to Fix the movie and make it work in the Lore. Me personally, I would actually leave the island fully abandoned, Bash, Dash, and Ferdinand were abandoned, and the workings are in ruin. The history of Misty Island goes like this: American entrepreneurs we’re looking for work, when they happened upon the small island South of Sodor, they realized the island was rich in Lumber, and the island was almost constantly covered in mist, so they decided to start the Misty Island UK/US Logging Company. They bought 3 engines to help out on the railway, two yarding engines named Bash and Dash, and a 3 Trucked Climax named Ferdinand. Plenty of other engines visited the island through an under sea tunnel built by the entrepreneur’s. Sense the tunnel roof was unstable, only lighter engines normally used the tunnel. The Logging Company also had two cranes. An American Hoist and Derrick Steam Log Loader Crane called Ol’ Wheezy, and a Swansboro Land and Lumber Railroad Steam Donkey named Hee-Haw. The Misty Island Lumber Company thrived for many years but eventually, the lumber industry began to slow down and then the entrepreneurs and their descendants had to find work on the neighboring Island of Sodor and the Mainland to find work, and the company was left abandoned, so we’re the engines and the cranes. Years go by with nothing happening. One day, Thomas and Percy go to Brendam Docks to collect timber for the new rescue station. The whole hijinks happens between Diesel and Thomas, but Diesel actually manages to deliver the logs and prove Thomas Wrong, however the next day, diesel nearly falls to his death after going down the wrong line and Thomas rescues him. Thomas gets to go with Spencer to the mainland. Mr.Unlucky Tug, you have the liberty to continue. I would have added my own characters, a Shay and Heisler.
Considering that the Isle of Sodor is supposed to exist in the real life Irish Sea, and the Irish Sea has been thoroughly mapped by now, I’m not seeing a way to make this work within canon.

Y’know, I have a theory about Henry being in his new shape in TAB and why he’s scared of everything. I think he had the Flying Kipper crash before he locked himself in the tunnel, hence explaining his cowardice and his new shape in TAB. Also, I think SLOTLT is the first time since season 5 where I felt I could call Sir Topham Hatt the Fat Controller. He feels like a force to be reckoned with, and I love it. That being said, I’d put BMM ever so slightly above SLOTLT because it feels the most like Thomas. SLOTLT is good, but there are time when I feel it goes too hard BMM just hit all the right boxes for me and didn’t feel overwhelming.
I honestly like Tale of the Brave more than Lost Treasure, because the latter has weird pacing, like the Smallies' song (which grinds the plot to a screeching halt), or Thomas not being present when Salty explains the backstory, yet acting like he knows about it later.
Also when I was little I adored Luke in Blue Mountain Mystery, witch was the first character I fell in love with outside of the main 7,Thomas,Percy,Gordon,James,Edward and Toby.(oh and Hiro!I really liked Hiro as well.)I used to watch it all time before I eventually got bored of Thomas and needed a break,as you can see in my teens surprisingly,I’m back now!
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t love him. It’s not because he’s a bad character, because he’s not, he’s amazing, it’s just that… I feel like it makes the timeline just a little bit confusing. He’s still amazing, and I do like him, I just don’t love him.
blue mountain mystery is always my fav. it came out when i was young. i always had to have it playing before i went to asleep, along with chocolate milk and mott’s fruit snacks. Having only recently returned to Thomas after having grown out of it over a decade ago and having only seen Calling All Engines and The Magic Railroad, I have some movies to find now
I know that Hero of the Rails was the 1st CGI production of Thomas (48:44) but it doesn't feel like it is. In my opinion, The Adventure Begins is the first CGI production (1:03:41) because it is so freaking nostalgic!!!! With all the stories from the first 2 Railway Series books combined into 1 big narrative and the re-creation of classic themes from the first season!!!!! Outfreakingstanding!!!!! It's the Thomas equivalent to Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), how both have had troubled productions, meddling from the higher ups, an overly convoluted story, and their poor quality have done so much damage to their respective brands that they still linger today

Fun fact: Hero of the Rails isn't the first Thomas production to have character voices (Japanese dub, Magic Railroad) or lip-synching (season 12), but it is the first to have both, because season 12 wasn't released in Japan. How revolutionary.
S12 wasn’t in released in Japan because Japanese kids would’ve been scared by the Model-CGI Hybrid.

This made me realise that Thomas might be Shin Megami Tensei for kids considering it’s based off of real trains and SMT is based off of demon mythology
Why did I say this

Tale of the brave is my absolute favourite movie in thomas and friends and i love how they kept this like story in season 17.
Eh to me, it's pretty forgettable
Yeah is also my favourite movie.
For Misty Island Rescue, I had just gotten this idea but here goes;
What if Thomas was on Sodor the whole time?
Say, in this version of the movie... rather then have it be a separate island just there for some reason and have it never be explained and break countless reasons in the book-
What if Thomas instead ended up back on Sodor (or even another part of the British Isles) during a misty island.

LOLT was a decent movie, although it could've been improved a lot.
Excellent.
One of my favourite unlucky tug videos, so glad he’s back👍
It's worthy of note that Thomas and the Magic Railroad was originally planned to have a human villain of its own, named P. T. Boomer, but he was scrapped because the test audience found him too scary for kids. I think Sailor John was likely supposed to be a rework of him.
Pause at 19:45. Look at Axel. His tender and main body are offset from each other.
Unfortunately don’t think is trash and garbage STH angry at Thomas of derailing the express and trying to kill Ryan with dynamite

I like to think that magic railroad was canon but it was such a drug trip that everyone on Sodor and earth agreed to never mention it ever again.
I love how in Hero of the Rails, the end chase kind of just skates by the fact that Thomas, a shortened, modified E2 class, outran a god damn _A4 Pacific_
Forget that, what about Toby, who was keeping up with said A4 Pacific?
@@RambunctiousReptilian It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie, but I don’t think Spencer was going as fast as possible, but then again, the J70’s had a top speed of 30 MPH/ 48 KPH, and L&YR 28’s had a top of about 75 MPH/ 120 KPH, so how EITHER of those two could keep up with an A4, that cruises at over 90 MPH for average service speeds is beyond me
I've rewatched this 70 times just so I can hear Tug refer to Misty Island Rescue as "a steaming pile of garbage"
One of his most iconic videos!
Always found it interesting that the worst two are and the best one are Sharon Miller Era.
37:51. If you watch the scene where Thomas is in the Steamworks, you can hear Diesel in the background saying: "GET ME OUT OF HEEEEEREEE!!!!"
Tug: Thomas feels like Thomas in The Great Discovery
Also Tug: Lost Treasure is the only movie on this entire list that gets Thomas correct
@@dylanlyles9453I think he meant that Sodor's Legend of The Lost Treasure was the only CGI movie to get Thomas correct!
@@vincentsowell2314 You know what? You're right! To quote George Lucas; "It's like poetry, sort of. They rhyme."
Oh my goodness the end credits
"Over here!" *BROOUUUUUUUUGH*
...
"I'm full of surprises!"
We were hysterical. I cannot believe Tug undercut the creative genius and payoff of that subplot.
Oh I've also seen Day of the Diesels. Seeing CGI Diesel 10 online before I watched that was surreal.
It was funny how he went at this 1:01:53
*Unpopular Opinion:* The Great Discovery is The #1 Best Thomas Movie.

The most angriest Sir Topham/The Fat Controller has gotten was where he yells at Diesel 10 at the Steamworks after causing confusion and delay

You know, I rewatched all of the Thomas movies last year and I think I may actually hate Day of the Diesels MORE than Misty Island Rescue
Misty Island Rescue is definitely the worst Thomas movie but I find it fascinating because of how much it gets wrong and it’s a movie I just love to hate. Meanwhile Day of the Diesels is an absolute snorefest which I can’t even meme on that much (although I stand by the fact that the ending song for Day of the Diesels is an unironic banger)
Tugs loosing it at every corner of Misty Island is genuinely insane
Sorry about my rant on the movie I just thought it was incredible, I’ve never seen most of the movies, since it’s been a long time since I came back to this show
Who was your childhood crush in the movie
Well it was 2 in particular since I was a kid, Id rather not say, I’ll let you guess
@@NovaKiana18 Emily and Rosie
Nope, again I was a kid, so it was Thomas and Hiro, somehow
Omg, I thought I was the only one scared of it as a kid 😂😂
29:38: I think I may have seen, like, one or two wikis mentioning that the makers actually did try to find an live-actor to play The Fat Controller, but they couldn't find one the right size, so, he was made into a wooden figure again.
Legit just playing your videos on repeat now and binging them all again
Kinda funny that i was making a Skarloey model while watching you talking about him. Such a chill video, i didnt even spill the glue over! ( mostly) awesome job!
Great re-upload!
1:01:53 His reaction to the stupid Let’s Be Brave Song always cracked me up!
I also hate that song😡
The history of Misty Island goes like this:
American entrepreneurs we’re looking for work, when they happened upon the small island South of Sodor, they realized the island was rich in Lumber, and the island was almost constantly covered in mist, so they decided to start the Misty Island UK/US Logging Company.

I just rewatched Blue Mountain Mystery today! This is one of my favourite videos of yours.
My best Nitrogen Movies are Hiro rails and blue mountain mysteries
Love this video so much, talking about the movies is so much fun and it was so satisfying seeing you touch on all of them. Love this video then and love it now. Definitely had to rewatch this
Y’know, I have a theory about Henry being in his new shape in TAB and why he’s scared of everything.
You know, that does make some sense in regards to his character. Maybe the rain represents the snow which triggered his PTSD.
29:50 in the movie, the brother of the conductor says something about the other humans shrinking when they go though the railway portal thingy
I loved this video! I’m happy to see that it’s back on RUclips :)
JBS was supposed to be the last CGI thing in the series, it was supposed to end when this released
Chronology of Thomas and Friends from beginning to true happy ending. Will be a little good thing
2:58 It’s also crazy how they unload the wood at the docks when the location that they’re building at is RIGHT NEXT TO THE WATER💀😭
One of my favourite videos of yours :D I’ve never stopped rewatching it since it first came out and I agree on most of your opinions 👍🏻
great discovery will still forever be my favorite movie, it holds so much within my heart and i miss those days, so i rewatch it
I honestly like Tale of the Brave more than Lost Treasure, because the latter has weird pacing, like the Smallies' song (which grinds the plot to a screeching halt), or Thomas not being present when Salty explains the backstory, yet acting like he knows about it later.
I am convinced they only forced Thomas do work because Thomas didn't want their help at first
Hot take: I feel like Steven is a character that could fit in the railway series so freaking well
Also when I was little I adored Luke in Blue Mountain Mystery, witch was the first character I fell in love with outside of the main 7,Thomas,Percy,Gordon,James,Edward and Toby.(oh and Hiro!I really liked Hiro as well.)I used to watch it all time before I eventually got bored of Thomas and needed a break,as you can see in my teens surprisingly,I’m back now!
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t love him. It’s not because he’s a bad character, because he’s not, he’s amazing, it’s just that… I feel like it makes the timeline just a little bit confusing. He’s still amazing, and I do like him, I just don’t love him.
I remember watching this like a thousand times before the original was deleted
blue mountain mystery is always my fav. it came out when i was young. i always had to have it playing before i went to asleep, along with chocolate milk and mott’s fruit snacks. My mom always talks to me about how she’d worry about her long work hours, and not having a father figure around. BMM shaped me who i am today, without having a male parental figure to do that. i love your ranking of it tug!
Actually I just realised this, ace's number is 43, the same as the strip the king weathers from cars and Hiro' s is 51 which is doc's from cars
That is a funny coincidence.
You do know those numbers were on real NASCAR drivers cars right? 43 for Richard petty. I don’t remember who had the 51 but they were important in Nascars history.
I'm 100% agree with you about Sir Topham very harsh on Thomas in Lost Treasure because I also face it so many times especially this later years which the study gets harder and my parents are more exhort with me
And I don’t get why some Thomas fans hated it because it is just a MISUNDERSTANDING!!
Blue Mountain Mystery is easily the best thing to come from the Nitrogen era.
I love how that movie has absolutely no rhyming exist at all like Misty Island Rescue and the other season of this era
Agreed.
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301 "But Luke didn’t come out, and he didn't say goodbye. Luke was scared, and Thomas knew why."

Great video as always! And I also wholeheartedly agree with you on retconning all previously established lore in a tv show just to make some new thing. That’s why I absolutely hate the SpongeBob spin-offs that are being produced these days because it disregarding all prior continuity just to make something that would make Stephen Hillenburg spin in his grave.
I officially mark it tied at the #1 spot alongside Tale of the Brave and The Great Discovery!!!!! 10 out of freaking 10!!!!
