Received letter recently from gas supplier, gas price increasing by £267.95 for next 12 months. Instead of paying £443 going to pay £711 a year. Didn't receive any letters about pay rise from my employer. I don't care what numbers are according to this or that information source. We all going to suffer Russians and Americans.

@McNizzle Rock: Only time can tell whether Singh is a smart man or simply narcissist. For that matter, Singh is dumb and arrogant man. This massive sanction on Russia basically put racism on full display in the world stage. Watch the shift in world finance. America basically looted $trillions from Russia and the world can see that. Now, the world does not trust the West anymore. Remember, more than half of world's populations do not agree with the sanctions. Watch how the world is dumping USD. Watch how the world is NOT using USD. The day USD lost its status as world reserve currency, America will collapse because its irresponsible spending. Watch the inflation. @@Chris-qh5tz Conservative propaganda? Look around you... you don't need to "villify" him, or even listen to right wing conservatives. Biden does it to himself. He's done NOTHING since taking office to help Americans. Only made things worse for us... Not one challenge presented to him has been overcome successfully.... Not, one... He called Trump a dictator for the amount off EO's he wrote, but goes and writes twice the amount in the same amount of time while he's in office... reversing polices that were HELPING this country prosper...without any logical reason...
I voted for the guy because I believed LEFT wing propaganda and FULLY regret it now. What a SHAM.. just like Russiagate... For 4 years we were made to believe Trump had ties to Russia just to find out that it was all a lie started by HRC's campaign. It was such a waste of resources and not ONE shred of evidence... Now, a few days ago NY Times confirms Hunter Biden's Laptop which proved he and almost certainly Biden, had ties to Russia,(among other foreign powers which are enemies to the USA) and received over 1.4billion from them for favors. Yet over a year ago when it was found: CNN/MSNBC among other democratic sources are POSITIVE that it's Russian/right wing propaganda....Just like Trump's ties to Russia... and everything else they have been dead WRONG about the past 6-8 years... It feels like it's just all lies from the media and democrats now a'days. CNN/MSNBC makes FOX news look honest. Couldn't say that 10 years ago...

@John You're an idiot. No one is exchanging 350 rubles for a dollar when you can go into any capital market and exchange at 100 to the dollar. As for the deal with Qatar that will replace less than 10% of what Russia supplies. And then there is the small issue of delivery. Delivery will need to be by tanker and Germany doesn't have the terminals constructed to receive gas via tanker. They will take about a year to build one facility. They will need 10 if they are going to replace all the Russian gas so they will be set in a decade. And we haven't even discussed the increased transportation costs to Germany or the higher price to buy Qatar's gas. Meanwhile their industries grind to a halt because they no longer have access to enough gas to keep operating. You are naive and stupid as you don't understand how international markets work and it is the US dollar that will slip into obscurity now that it is no longer the world's reserve currency. Or hadn't you heard? Because the brilliant Mr Singh stole $300 billion of Russian reserves the Saudi's are going to break the 50 year agreement to sell their oil only for US dollars. You see when you steal other people's money even your long term friends stop trusting you.
Meanwhile Russia backed its currency with its 2300 tonnes of gold and will continue to back its currency with more and more resources. Remember your hubris when you can't buy fuel and when you can get it you pay over $20 a gallon and when you are paying $10 for a loaf of bread. I give you to the end of the year.

While the sanctions against Russia have not directly targeted their energy sector, the sanctions may still harm it. The oil industry relies on other industries that are directly targeted by the sanctions. Many of the most profitable oil fields are thousands of miles from major cities. They rely on the domestic air industry which operates a fleet of aircraft purchased from western countries. Those companies are unable to do business with Russia to provide replacement parts and service for those aircraft.

Now that every aircraft manufacturer in the west has stopped providing parts, service, and support, Russia will ahem to start cannibalizing their Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer planes to provide parts for the ones they want to keep flying. Here is the rub: when this is over, none of those planes will be allowed back in the EU or anywhere else since they cannot posses an airworthiness certificate. hose planes that Russia were leasing are now considered to be trashed. As Europeans, those who were concerned could not have imagined that this tragedy would occur. And yet, as we learn, the writing on the wall has been clear enough for decades. In the meantime, we are doing our best to provide Ukrainian with a safe haven, and any useful and wel-thought out info has its values. So thanks again. Keep up the good job. Putin spent over a decade trying to resolve their national security issue and Donbass issue diplomatically. Of course, US and NATO ignore all that because US wanted the conflict to happen. Yes, America instigated this conflict and pushed Russia to the edge. Has it occurred to America that Putin has a contingency? Are you people watching what is going on in the world finance? Are you people seeing the inflation in the US? That means, USD is losing it value. Are you seeing countries are dumping USD? Saudi Arabia and UAE refused to pick up Biden's call. OPEC + 1 refused to increase oil production. Saudi is selling oil to China using Yuan, NOT USD. India bought oil from Russia using Rupees, NOT USD. China will be buying gas from Russia using Yuan, NOT USD or Euro. Russia demands unfriendly countries to use Rubbles for oil. Are you people seeing the beginning of the end of America hegemon which is a good thing? America is NOT too smart after all. Sanctioning Russian Airlines was a mistake. Stop providing parts and services are basically holding an airline hostage. Russia saw this problem 2 decades ago, and due to their proactive vision, today they have introduced the commercial aircraft MC-21+ PD-14 jet engine. It is almost 100% made in Russia. It is a more modern and economical design and can compete with the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Under normal conditions, the new MC-21 still needs to earn its reputation in the domestic market before gaining any significant market share internationally. Today, this sanction basically opens the door for the MC-21. China and India are growing markets and need more aircraft in their fleets. Under the self-imposed and sanctioned world, the future-proof MC-21 is an easy pick. Airliners don't want to inherit the same treatment that Russia got from the US or Europe. Without conquering a new market (the Middle East and Africa seem to align with Russia), Boeing and Airbus will have a hard time balancing their book.

I salute the president and other nations that assisted in this. Now, we must remember that things like oil prices and inflation preceded these sanctions, so the proper sanctions should not improperly be used as a cover story for inflation, too.

Impact of sanctions on the Russian economy:
    1. Economic growth for the first quarter of this year amounted to 3.7%. At the same time, if we take industry separately, it grew by 5.9% over the quarter, and in March, compared to February, the growth in industry amounted to 9.9%.
    2. Unemployment remains at a historically low level and is not going to rise - 4.1%
    3. Suddenly, budget revenues increased by a third (30.4%), which caused a budget surplus of 2,417 billion rubles, which is 3.6 times more than last year's surplus. And that's for the quarter.
    4. Inflation has been declining for several weeks in a row. Gasoline prices began to decline in March and continued into April. Inflation is declining because Russia has stopped its imports, today prices are slowly untied from world prices.
The impact of sanctions on the economy of Germany and the EU:
    1. The volume of imports from Russia to Germany, expressed in financial terms, rose to historical records. And we are not talking about energy supplies, but about other types of goods. This is written by the German edition of Die Welt. The Federal Statistical Office of Germany reports that the turnover with the Russian Federation in March alone amounted to more than 3.6 billion euros (in 2014 it was 3.5 billion), which is 44% more than last year.
    2. Europeans began to suffer from the closure of the Russian skies in response to the closure of the European skies for Russian companies. Because of this, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently had to fly to Japan via the North Pole, with refueling in Alaska. The total lengthening of the flight in one direction was an hour and a half. But this is for the chancellor, and for ordinary people, the delay compared to the normal route through Russia and China can be much longer. In addition, flying over the pole is more dangerous than flying over populated areas. There is nowhere to make an emergency landing and refuel, so the preparation of cars and pilots requires increased attention.
    3. European Union airlines have been hit hard by sanctions against Russia. This is stated in the draft resolution of the European Parliament (EP). As noted in the draft, the aviation sector is faced with rising costs, rerouting and flight cancellations. The document states that the increase in the route for flying around the airspace of the Russian Federation and Belarus takes up to four hours one way, which leads to problems with refueling and an increase in the working day of the crew. The EP also drew attention to possible interruptions in the supply of titanium used in the construction of aircraft in the near future, the main producers of which are Russia and Ukraine.
    4. Germany is experiencing an inflationary shock in the food retail sector. This is stated in an article in the German newspaper Handelsblatt. The publication recalled that food prices rose by more than 6 percent in March. At the same time, the cost of fresh vegetables increased by more than 14 percent, and vegetable oil - by 17 percent. The consumer climate in Germany is deteriorating. According to the GfK forecast, the consumer climate index will decrease by 26.5 points. This is the lowest value for all time of measurements. Company expert Robert Kechkes explained that consumer budgets have shrunk due to overall rising costs. The reason for this was the strong uncertainty of the Germans, he added. Earlier, the country's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported that annual inflation in April 2022 in Germany will accelerate to 7.4 percent, which is a record for many years.
    5. Consumer prices in the euro area in April rose by 7.5 percent in annual terms, according to preliminary data from the Statistical Office of the European Union. This is an absolute record in the history of calculations. Inflation has accelerated, in March it was 7.4 percent. Inflation exceeds the target of the European Central Bank (set at two percent) by more than three times. This trend is associated primarily with the rise in energy prices, despite the fact that the growth rate slowed down to 38 percent (compared to 44.4 percent in March). The lowest inflation rates over the past 12 months were recorded in Malta (4.5 percent), France (5.1 percent) and Portugal (5.5 percent), the highest in Lithuania (15.6 percent), Estonia (14 .8 percent) and the Czech Republic (11.9 percent).
    6. After the imposition of sanctions against the subsidiary of the Russian holding Novatek, Novatek Green Energy in Poland, the supply of blue fuel to dozens of municipalities was stopped. In Bulgaria, the cost of gas due to the cessation of supplies from the Russian Federation increased by 50%.
    7. The euro crashed to the lows of early 2020, before the lockdown.
Impact of sanctions on the US economy:
    1. The US economy contracted in the first quarter of 2022 by 1.4 percent year on year.
    2. The US trade deficit in March amounted to $109.8 billion against 89.8 billion a month ago. The pace of deficit expansion is unprecedented.
The West poured all military surpluses onto Ukraine, and also took on the maintenance of the Ukrainian economy in the amount of 5-7 billion dollars a month.
Inside the countries that support anti-Russian measures, political problems are intensifying due to rising world prices.

Russian government simply banned dollar trade to its population, so Russian government is simply painting Rouble currensy like it wants, but population can't get this dollars, and no one in the World would believe in this currensy price. This is like the old Soviet times. Soviet government was also painting Rouble price like it wanted. But this price wasn't established by the market and people. And no one in the World believed in Soviet fairy tales about the price of Rouble. So, Soviet Union was bying imports by prices, much higher than Global average. While Soviet exports were very cheap, much cheaper, than Global average prices.
Russian economy is dependent on imports. Also, Russian economy have huge governmental participation, and Putin announced, that companies-importers would have access to currensy trade by this price, that was painted by Russian government. Also, Putin need to hold Rouble currensy, because Russia announced about gas trade for Roubles, so Russia would sell gas, and this Roubles would be converted into dollars by that price of dollar, which Russian government would paint. But only small amount of companies had agreed to the Russian proposal of trading the gas for Roubles.
The Rouble price is complete fake, but this affects statistics, and if we would look to the staticstics, we would see, that Russian economy "is growing". But this is lie, because in reality prices in Russia are growing, I live in Moscow. 2 months ago prices were ~30% lower.
Europe will abandon Russian gas, oil and coal over the next few years, despite the fact that gas and oil account for 20% of the economy and 40% of the state budget of Russia. Up to this point, competition with Russian manufacturers did not allow Americans to occupy the entire European market. Liquefied gas is more expensive than a pipeline, so Russia just won fair competition. Now, when Russia has started the war, Europe will plan to abandon Russian gas, and the Americans, Arabs or any other producers in the world will plan to increase production. Other oil and gas producers will occupy the tasty European market not as a result of fair competition, but simply according to the plan of the states, despite the fact that it is less profitable to buy from America. And Russia doesn't really have any buyers of oil and gas, except Europe. It is unclear how the Resource Federation will live in 5 years.
Russian oil production depends on American drilling technologies, Russia has been facing the question for several years that oil deposits that can be developed are running out. Americans have already left the Russian drilling technology market. So besides the fact that Russia will not have buyers, Russia will not have the technology to drill wells.
In general, Russia was cut off most of its reserves, which were previously considered inexhaustible, Russia lost $ 300 billion out of 600, which is equal to the state budget for the year. These reserves have been created for years, and now they are frozen.
Russia will lose the import of spare parts and technologies on which the Russian atmobile and aircraft industries depend - production in Samara has already stopped. Russian motorcycle production has moved to Kazakhstan.
Various international companies are leaving the Russian market. In particular, monopolists in the field of microchips and logistics, container construction have already left Russia, despite the fact that logistics in Russia was already difficult, and Russian microchips are 20 years behind.
Yes, there will be a rise in gas prices in Europe and a recession in the economy. However, Russia will receive a much more terrible blow, and Europe, unlike Russia, has shown economic growth in recent years, when Russia has been stagnating since 2013 and is not able to grow. In other words, the European economy will recover over time, recover from the blow.
Well, this is not even talking about the disappearance of many goods and companies.

Sanctions undermine the US dollar as the global reserve currency that is why the BRICS alliance was established and reinforced after the market crash of 2008. Sanctions does not affect high profile tycoons/businessmen and politicians, it only affects average people. This poor and shallow response has accelerated countries dislodging their bond (dollar) holdings and can trigger the death of the dollar. Mr. Sing is juvenile and arrogant.
